I don't think you should react so much as you should just learn the character timing. I think everyone is pretty universal except for Sol, Faust, and Millia. Delay the 66 or the full sequence a bit on those characters.

Probably not. It was #R style in +R. That said I believe the frame data and invincibility is worse. Venom 6P in #R was really good actually. And even if Venom had AC 6P in +R, reverting a lot of things to #R style would have made it that version anyway (see Ky 6HS for instance). As far as a lobby goes, I'd be down as long as time permits me. I'd alert Blacksnake of it too, lives in Chicago not too bad a connection.

Still has his usual strengths, and they're worth a good deal more I think in a game not as crazy as AC+R. Has higher average damage in a few situation than most of his incarnations. j.D is really good, both as an attack and hitting balls. YRC is very good to him. And as you said, despite the skepticism, you can't deny there's at least 3 very high level Venom players capable of winning tournaments with the best players in the world.

Sol is N-O's first character in GG actually, and then he switched to Venom. He was just messing around. Venom's rankings over the series: Apparently A tier in XX (underdeveloped game, no clue how it would go), B in #R, C in Slash, B-B+ in AC, D in +R, and B-A tier in Xrd (depends who you ask). Never been directly at the top, and unless he gets some truly OP stuff, probably never will be top 5, but you never know!

Waseda style 2v2, correct?

N-O supposedly resolved that he didn't want to play bad or middling characters anymore, and is probably enjoying BB more. It's funny, Fino actually got bored with Venom for a while and played Zato for a while, but has gotten back to Venom "until he bores him again" he told me lol.

No, it reduces blockstun. I asked Ruu (The Bridget God from Japan) since he dabbled in some Xrd Venom about his thoughts on executing: (yes, he speaks some English) "Though I have no special input method, suffice it to say… I input 866 after close S 3rd hit's hit stop" "Some players I heard try super jump 66, is that true?" "Yeah, super jump is one of good way to input, that depends on the person"

Ok just want to say that this line is bullshit "Venom has been Ky's worst matchup in every version of GG since XX" come on... I can't comment too much on the Xrd matchup myself since I haven't fought anyone good with Ky consistently yet... Can Ky Greed Sever over S Stinger Aim? Never seen that happen myself. Most of them loved to Stun Dipper underneath them though. And yes, Ky's DP is not very good, however, you should play around in the beginning, as well as learning how to safe jump it for oki, and punish attempts. It can still punish over aggressiveness/sloppy play. That said, we have matchup threads for this discussion, moving.

For reference, character wakeup times are listed here: http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=System_Data_(GGXRD) Most moves knockdown face up, but sweeps knockdown face down. Venom is actually unique - the first hit of his 2D knocks down face down, but the second hit face up.

I agree with Titty. Adjustments need to be made. That said. if you still love Venom, train up, practice, and do what you gotta do to stay in it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAyoCcr2ISw FT10 between Ertai (Venom) and Koichi (Elphelt) He has an interesting style to say the least...

Given how slow and generally reactable Venom's dust is (especially with the new red flash), I find it the opposite - if I use it less, people will be less inclined to see it coming and get hit by it. If people expect dust more, they'll be reacting to it, not anticipating it.

If you're feeling negative after HS Carcass, you're doing it too close to them. It's one of your main anti-jump tools First of course, you have to know what's a tight string (as well as close to it) and what isn't. Wiki information on levels in blockstun and the frame data can help there. Other than that, anti-jump tools of Venom in general include: HS Carcass - Just to reiterate. Adjust your spacing when using. c.S/Throw Option select - People jumping out of tick throws and frame traps can get tagged by this. Also ideal if your opponent is in aerial blockstun and reachable. HS Double Head Morbid - Throw onto your strings when you have 50 meter where people are jumping out. 4 hits, all air unblockable. RC to make it safe and restart pressure, or on hit, can RC for a combo. YRC - S Stinger/Either Carcass Raid will put out space for you to control and YRC that to cover other space with Venom himself. IAD normals - If their jumps are predictable, jump cancelling one of Venom's normals (5P/5K/c.S) and IADing in with an air chain will tend to keep them in place. Air Throw - Further call out of predictable jumps. Like your ground throw, you can option select it with other air normals.

Yeah, corner dust I feel is more worth it. Giving up Venom's positioning and advantage on hit or block if you're not going to kill is not an option that's worth it at all for me if I can help it.
-
Dust is only worth it midscreen if you have a ball out, see what I posted there. Like you said, no positional advantage from a vertical dust, so it's not used.
-
Of the stuff not mentioned, I like YRC ground ball sets too. A ball out significantly increases Venom's options as we all know, and getting that much more time see what an opponent is doing or getting and/or getting an extra ball can be all the difference.

Yeah teleport has recovery but it has less overall frames than +R and the invincibility comes into play faster!

I-No is one of my more heavily played matches, I'm 99% sure the STBT is not real against K Ball oki. 6P beats horizontal Chemical Love. I also don't recommend multi ball sets that go in a straight line - chemical love will destroy all projectiles it comes in contact with. Reversal super is throwable. Reversal 6P on your part may be a thing if she's going too high on her oki. I don't mind throwing out 6P's in midrange neutral, but if they like to STBT a lot, that loses viability. Be very wary of how you air tech, I-No players love to catch your techs with air throws (on top of her new command grab, she gets even more reward for doing it successfully). Sometimes, delaying the tech if you're becoming too predictable is the right answer.

imo, much better this vid Teef! I'll add it to the first post (which I need to update) when you transcribe it a bit since it covers lots of different formations. Add this to the vid description btw from your post to help those that found it via other means: "the video Starts with 1 ball Oki formations >> multiple and sequential oki formations Mid Screen >> 2 balls oki formation mid screens >> Corner oki formation >> Ball Formations in general >> Miscs."

Also just to be aware, safe jumps aren't necessarily as effective in this game once your opponent sees them - they can be blitz shielded. HOWEVER, because of the nature of Venom's j.S safejump (the j.S is whiffing and the ball hits), he will be safe (I'm pretty sure) but you may have to give up your turn...

Characters in GG have different defense, not health....

ahhhh you saw all my drops x_x. I took it easy on some of the K Ball oki because he likes to flash kick a lot in casuals, but I only saw it once there *sigh* Anyway, you guys covered QV Absorb stuff pretty well there. I think it's most useful in I-No, Bedman, and mirror match. Maybe Leo too on occasion. Should test Zato drill I suppose, but that's unlikely to come up as much against strong Zato's who will put drills on or right behind you.

The fuzzy guard, could you do a RC to pickup instead of Red Hail?

I'll be looking to get a more accurate number from some of my friends later (remind me) but the gap I think is 1 Frame with best Reload, and that's level 1 Shotgun. Frame data section lists level 1 as +1, can cancel into reload at Frame 14-25. 28 frame recovery, 3 startup and 1 active makes 32 frames total. Reload is 17 frames. So basically, it becomes 31 frames total with fastest possible reload, making it +2. I don't think any good Elphelt will be reloading late enough to make it significantly minus. EDIT: Apparently I hear the frame data is wrong? Need to look into it. Level 2 Shotgun...forget about a gap lol.

Do we really have to call Carcass Raid, "cock slider"? But yes, 66(3) is commonly used to help with charge. 2K, c.S(1), S Carcass would be preferred over 2S because the one hit of c.S is level 5, making your Carcass a true blockstring (shit the stick from 3->5->8). In addition, you need it to help the damage of most of Venom's throw bnbs, with 66(3) 2HS > S Carcass.
