  1. Sekkajin (5C mash) registers at the fourth 5C press. People mash to guarantee input, but if you mash past three, you will get Sekkajin. Just mash three times in 1/4 second periods when doing 5C after 6C dash cancel i.e. spread your 5C presses throughout the dash cancel. When doing 5C 6C on crouched or countered opponents, just press 6C once during 5C frames.
  2. Scratch that. I must've been thinking about Tager and Hakumen when I posted that. Every time I imagine a situation in which someone is defending 3/4 of the match, I think of Tager right away. My mistake... I went to training mode to test how well it works on all characters. Tager's is obviously the easiest to do (IAD jD at point blank works), next is Hakumen (1/4 5C distance), and surprisingly Carl (must be the top hat). Carl's is a bit finicky, but doable at mid-5C range. The rest you have to be at 5C maximum distance and delay your jD just a wee bit to get in range of their crouching hitbox. So, regading the original question, I suppose you can jump cancel 5C into IAD jD crossup, or if your opponent starts to see through it, EX ice swords right before or above them and continue pressure on block. Rachel, on the other hand, is nigh impossible to do IAD jD crossup on, even with delay. Her crouching hitbox is extremely short it seems.
  3. I just mash dash after after a slight pause (.5s~) from j.D. Always comes out at the same time I'd need it to air dash.
  4. Watch tourny vids. Go to training mode and practice your bnbs to 99.99% success rate. Go play pvp and emulate playstyle you liked from tourny vids. Then it's all self-improvisation from there. Jin specific tips: Know your jump cancellable moves Know the uses and limits of jB Know your DPs Know EX corner combos Create frame traps in your block strings Know how to look for punishable moves and hit confirm them into combos Know resets
  5. Depends on which move. If it's one of her non-D moves, I try to freeze via 5D or 2D. If near corner and can reach, EX DP. Guaranteed burst here. If post-burst, guaranteed game.
  6. It's the most common, well known bnb and hard to fuck it up, even in lag. So they do it because they feel safe doing it. At least, that's also my reason for doing it 3/5 of the time. It depends on the range I've frozen them and their character. On Tagers, I always 5C jB jC combo them, because doing that on Tager is butt easy even on online lag and doing 6C -> air combo on Tager leaves you on the other side--and most of the time after a 6C -> air combo, you've pushed your opponent more than halfway across the screen and you obviously wouldn't want to end on the other side.
  7. Whatever you decide to do, always watch what your Jin opponent will try i.e. he might reset, go for purple grab, or go into a full combo. You should always try to break out. If you can't do it fast enough, practice some more. Also, know the moment you'll break out and practice knowing how to input moves right afterwards. To me, I just wiggle as fast as I can, and the moment that other Jin is about to hit me, I input, regardless of whether I think I made it in time or not. Either way, I'll end up countering him, blocking and possibly punishing that failed 6C (assuming he's not the kind to cancel blocked 6C into Fubuki) or I'll just default to the scenario in which I didn't break out. Got nothing to lose, so you might as well practice wiggling out and countering. Jin's freeze is kinda double edged, in which if the Jin fucks up on confirming after freeze, he's gonna eat a counter hit combo. Or if you're Hakumen, Yukikaze. Got this pulled on me. Kudos to him, I was impressed, even though I lost a ton of my health
  8. IAD jD cross up, grab (for the love of me, i forgot but i think u can grab crouched opponents? ), or bait out stuff using your second jump, etc. I think j.C can hit crouched opponents, but you gotta delay it. It's very blockable, but at least pushes you forward in your block string.
  9. And a whiffed j.B on a crouching opponent is baaaaaad. At least, in my experience.
  10. Hmm, I think I remember playing a drive happy Tao that I kept countering with j.A. Is j.A that meaty? How long is it active? Every hit deliciously confirms into a complete combo, complete with knockdown + oki opportunity or resets.
  11. Does Jin's j.C hit behind him at all? It hits a bit on front, top, and bottom, but how about behind? There are some situations in which I jump across an enemy and backdash back into him, but since I'm still facing away, j.B don't work, and I'm usually too low to use j.D safely.
  12. Is snow flower storm sekkajin? Sounds like it. If so, that's already a known one, with a grab tagged on front.
  13. lol, I just noticed I put "Tetsu v Jin" on my first sentence up there. Ren is just THE Jin.
  14. Tournament video of Tetsu v Jin held at GC on 8/12/09. Sorry if it's been seen already but just saw it uploaded on this guy's account (and he updates asap) and just watched it. Plus this thread needs some new vids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttDn0T3UV5A - Ren v Tetsu Other Jins from said tournament: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfDn1FlKBv8 - Tetsu v Kegani (RA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hTvBNoQV0A Tetsu v ???(BA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEq7UDDSaAU Ren v Kaqn (RA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaNJXMpIzPo Ren v Kaqn (RA) pt2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UL5wKZnZ5Q Ren v Kegani (RA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UarOtSDnCs8 Ren v ??? 15. As cliche as this sounds, your best defense is prevention :v: Just play defensively. Shoot ice swords. Hit Nirvana to death if you can. etc. etc.
  16. I've been having relative success against Taos lately because lately I've been more conservative and defensive, which is what Jin should be right? Anyway, it seems Tao's rush game makes her an easy target for freeze from 5D or EX air ice swords. The fact that 5D hits air too makes it pretty useful against rushers. Tao rapes up close so I think attacking as far as you can with relatively safe moves (5B and 5D are safe enough for me in this matchup) works good. Also, some use her ability to crawl while crouching. If you attack them, they'll usually do a crouching block. I do 5C 214B RC air dash j.B j.C 5C 6C -> combo. Costs 50 meter, but I find meter-building with Jin not too hard. Though that won't work forever, but like all of Jin's ice car games, you can instead grab/2B/etc. Anyone care to chime in? I'm not very good so input would be nice.
  17. Try doing that to the same person online for a couple times even--chances are, he'll pick up and the combo immediately becomes obsolete. It's just a gimmick. It only works for awhile. I've been wanting to try a j.236D after a teched blue grab from corner otg 2C but no one's been teching out of it, lol. I'm thinking this is a good reset/freeze opportunity since I think most people feel gutsy after teching a grab.
  18. I thought I was in youtube for a moment after reading soujiro's posts.
  19. I bet all the Jin hating scrubs are celebrating.
  20. I was playing around with it in training mode last night, I think it did 3.8k damage or so with a total of 50 hits. Wouldn't say it's worth it, since you can do 4k~ damage just by using 25 meter to start a corner combo or something. Of course, if it'll end the match by preventing your opponent from using burst, then by all means.
  21. Huh, interesting. I've been hesitant to use j.C lately cause of slow startup and getting countered. Does j.C have more range than Ragna's 6A or something? Gotta try these out. Then I can see how Jin has the advantage. I just know deep down he does, but I couldn't see it or explain it.
  22. Hmm, how does Jin nullify Ragna's 6A? I find that a pain in the ass. As you said, Ragna's 5B is godlike and it's hard to take him on the ground. Ragna's air is also not as good as Jin's. But a good Ragna will most likely stay on the ground and take advantage of his 5B, or nullify your attempts at j.B with 6A. I'm a Jin main too, and he's one of my current troublesome matchups. Though my friend, who plays better than me, also thinks this matchup is in Jin's favor, so maybe I missed something.
  23. Oh no, I meant what moves should I do on a guarding Tager that I'm putting pressure on (I thought that was a block string?). EDIT: my bad, I guess I meant mixup. j.A should beat Atomic Collider on startup right? I gotta test this out in training mode. Maybe I'm just delaying my j.A's too much.
  24. What's a good block string for Tager? Lately I've been doing 5B 5C j.A j.B j.A repeat w/ some 2A/2B here and there until he BBs to make distance or I manage to mix in a successful grab. But lately also, I've been getting Atomic Collider'd the moment I jump for the first j.A. I don't want to stay on the ground too long in case he grabs/buffers 360 or worse, 720, hence I jump for counter if he tries that.
  25. She spins a certain number of times (I think four). Go check it out in training mode. As for her aerial skirt drill thing, it's pretty slow startup (to me) so you just gotta learn to react to it. I think you can maybe sneak a 623C the moment she starts it up, though if she uses sylpheed to come down with the skirt drill, she'll recover faster.
