[CS1] Jin Gameplay Discussion v2 (No bitching edition)
BANGER replied to Wolf Pup TK's topic in Archive
You mind reposting that? I don't think I remember reading it. I just do the old 2D. -
Ragna j.623C (aerial ID) isn't air unblockable though right. I think I tried doing that a long time ago. For 6B overhead, you can sneak a 3C in there into a full combo. Did it by accident once trying to DP, I'd say it works well since 3C startup is fast. Recovery sucks, but obviously you only do it when he really does 6B and you see it coming. If you block a 6B, expect a 3C > 5D next. After his 5D DC are one of those 50/50 moments. Do whatever you think is right depending on what kind of player he is. So far, I think this is a defensive matchup for Jin (seemingly like the rest). Utilize your jC's defensively/play good footsies, be on a look out for counter opportunities, and catch them off guard with 2Ds or do j.236D when they try to reset you with 6A. To me, I think Jin's worst matchups are those with fast moves (long range is a plus, i.e. Litchi) ala Tao and Tsubaki. But I'm no pro. I honestly think I'd fair better against a Ragna with my Jin than I would against a Tao or Tsubaki. Then again maybe it's because I play with a friend, who's a Ragna main, a ton.

Yeah, 2A's another one of those crazy anti airs. I've landed them some but usually on accident, lol. Confirms to 5B > 5C (I think?) air combo as well too. I just don't do it intuitively because, crouching AND attacking is the last thing you'd wanna do to an aerial opponent methinks. -
You'll hear a ton of noise. Go towards that noise, lol. It's on the left side, facing the front of the inn. Once you get in from the front, head into the left corridor. Room should be right up ahead (it's one of those multi-purpose rooms). The inn's not that big a place.

That's what I had in mind, except maybe adding a j2C after the initial jC. Would there be some proration shenanigans on this? I'm fairly consistent on doing j2Cs so far. So far for 5B AA, I do 5B (AA) > 5C > jB > j2C > JC > j2C > jD > D ice car corner > 6C > 214C. I would predict jC would work, maybe even better since it's faster and does more damage, but I'm still trying to trust jC's small vertical hit box. Also, one of the characters you should not try 5B AA'ing is Litchi. Her air splitkick (I'm guessing it's her jC?) beats 5B and leads into a CH combo... ouch. A IAD'ing Ragna is a nono too. His jC got too much range. I find 5B AA so far good for those trying to do "jumping around" mixups all over you. -

I dunno, I do standard 5B > 5C > air combo. If I hit them at a too-high level, I j.A > j.B >JC > j2C > jD > 214C. Proration sucks, but ya. 5B > 2C, I don't think there's enough time for 2C unless counter hit. Don't remember trying it though. I should try 5B air hit > 5C > 6C > combo. I wonder if that works. -

Hmm. I guess this is a defensive matchup then? How about back air dashing jC spamming? If she's nearby, spam jA. Try to fish for a CH or two, and make them afraid of drive spamming. I gotta admit too that this matchup is a PITA for Jin. Locally, I never play any Tao players, but back during CT online, there were quite few good ones. I never figured out how to beat them, then CS came around so I forgot about this matchup due to the lack of local Tao players. -

I second fireball zoning. I've been experimenting with it lately and it seems to "stagger" people's mind sets and they become extra cautious/defensive whenever they see an ice sword floating around. There are barely any Tao players at the arcade I play (the cab says she's the least played character at 5% game time iirc), but I predict fireball zoning should stifle their crazy mixup mind set. I think this is one of the reasons why some people have a hard time approaching lobelia spamming Rachels. As long as a projectile is flying around, even though her recovery from it sucks and you can tell where the projectile will go and land, people still wuss out. And when they do decide to go, they get hit by lightning. jC spam is also another way of forcing an air dash happy opponent to be cautious. Mind games, etc. EDIT: Hey Heidern, aren't you a hazama main now? -

It's because your sprite is off the screen that the timing of the dash has been difficult for me. I usually watch my sprite for timing a move after a previous one has finished. I can't really see myself when his ass is all the way up there. Another way to end it is to do ice arrow super. If you got spare 50 meter and your opponent is almost down, this is a surefire way to end the match. -
Oh hey ken, it's me, david's friend. I'll most likely be at AI this Sat. as well too. Just tagging along with some friends.

BB only needs 4 fingers in the same place. Barrier and throwing is intuitive. You'll know once you try it.

You need to learn basics like smooshman did a month ago. Watch videos. Hit training mode for hours straight until you get combos right at least 5x in a row or so, then hit vs for under-pressure practice. If you're thinking, "that's it? that's all the advice I get?": You're too new at the game for any more advice since you won't understand until you get to a certain level. So just keep watching those vids, practice your bnbs in training mode, and most importantly, keep playing against other people.

I don't quite get what you're saying. For crouching opponents in general, standard Jin protocol: 5C > 6C > etc. C ice car can hit larger crouching targets like Hakumen after 5BB > 5C > etc. but why would you do that anyway, given the above. If you insist on ending your ground combo with ice car, there is 5BB > 5C > 2C > 3C > 214B. etc > 3C > 214C also works on Rachel, Hakumen, Tager, and Tao (I think, I am probably wrong). But you can even do better with a 5BB > 5C > 3C > 2B > etc. variant.

I'm going to bring some extra speakers and other hardware next time... CS had no sound back there, and we had to mooch it off an SFIV guy who had to leave early, even. No sound at grand finals != hype.
-
Actually, it's pretty much not a useful move since there are better uses for 50 meter, and it's FC property is a gimmick. I only use it for flashiness. It's gratifying landing it.

There was already discussion about Yukikaze. Search around.

Because kaqn is too godly for rankings. Jokes aside, I sure wanna see vids of that top Jin... And those Taiwanese jins were pretty horrible.

Looking forward to next one. I think I'll actually play this time

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9597041 At 5:01, 214B CH crouching sure does a lot of hitstun. Could confirm into a crouching hit combo. Fishing for a 214B counter, a crouching one nevertheless, is pretty suicidal anyway though. But something to keep in mind... -
I'm more interested in Love Plus+. Anyway, I'm pretty much gonna echo what seems to be the majority opinion--that I think some other, "legit" game is more deserving of the slot than the bad-impression CT was. CT's already got bad rep. Putting CT back in is like having a crappy band you boo'd off stage come back and play some more. I mean, wtf mate.

Ye, jB seems to have more of a circular hitbox to me than it did a 1/4 circle back in CT. It suits the appearance of jB to boot. I've hit people above me many times with jB these days. -
Well just make sure the source images you used to compile that are in a decent resolution, otherwise prepare for some pixelation. And you probably know this but ye, make sure you print out some extra leeway around the edges and get rid of the button layers. Otherwise, you'll have to be extremely exact/down to the millimeter to make it look nice.

Other chars are calling out to you. Sooner or later, you will leave Jin like everyone else. -
If you like American style arcade buttons, Happ is for you. If you like Sanwa style but more resistant/more pressure needed, Seimitsu. Happ is hardest to press out of all three. lizardlick.com is a good site to order parts from. modchipman is another. There are tutorials all over the net on modding. Try to find an SE cheap/used; don't pay more than $60 USD for one brand new. Otherwise you'll be spending $100+ USD total after mods.
