https://www.start.gg/tournament/all-in-together-2026-combo-breaker-community-tournaments/details Chaos Code is gonna be at combo breaker once again. Pre-reg if you haven't yet!
-
https://twitter.com/A_crimefighter/status/889792622839070721 I came up with a new post-throw tech meaty setup, this delays the bite a good deal to catch anyone regardless of when they tech the throw.

https://twitter.com/A_crimefighter/status/888596890622799872 Setup for azhi to meaty an opponent after they tech a throw. Confirms for a combo if they don't tech. If they delay their tech it'll whiff so it's not super great, but it's a nice little bonus to have.

https://twitter.com/A_crimefighter/status/888129344236695553 New midscreen safejump using 236[/B] works off an A starter. It's maybe a bit easier if you whiff cancel into 5A/2A after the 623B but you don't need to. Notation if you can't read the inputs: 2A>2B>2C>236A>236[/B]>623A>623B>2C>jump cancel towards>j.6D>j.B You can substitute j.B for j.2C or any other air normal if you want. You also need to delay the j.6D a bit, I don't have any tips for that tho

On may 7th we're doing a larger tournament at Evanston games (formally known as Elysium) all the info for it is here https://smash.gg/tournament/the-marquee-matchup and you can even pre-reg. Also every sunday is still weekly casuals at Evanston games
-
Since the last post we've switched days at Elysium to Sunday (doors open at 11AM, tournaments start at 4 (first GG, then BB afterwards), the shop closes at 11PM). Also ShinSin and I have started a chicago AFGC twitter you can follow to stay posted on events and results from locals https://twitter.com/ChicagoAFGC

Turnout at Elysium has picked up, so now it's going to be a weekly meetup. Next one will be on the 12th. If you bring a setup (monitor+console) that we end up using for tournament venue is waved, otherwise $5. Tournaments are $5 entry. Also we've been running BB tournaments at ignite and the plan is to keep doing that.
-
We haven't been getting very good turnout at Elysium, so if the next meetup doesn't get very good turnout we probably wont have any more. It wont be until January because of the holiday season. If anyone has opinions on weather we should do it on the 5th or hold off till the 12th lmk, the date still isn't set in stone
-
Starting on the first of december Elysium games in evanston is going to be hosting anime stuff every other thursday. Venue is $5 but it's waved if you bring a full setup (including monitor), stuff officially starts at 7, tournaments would likely start ~8. From the looks of who's said they're gonna come we'll probably do a blazbue tournament and if people come for xrd or any other game I'm happy to run stuff for those games too. Tournament will be singles $5 entry casual play is, of course, fine. Next monday I'll be running another BB bracket at ignite, most likely a free 2v2, but if turnout is smaller we'll do a 1v1. I want to start the bracket a little earlier (~8) so that there's time to run something else (I was thinking a chaos code bracket)

There's a place in Evanston (Elysium games, 1610 Maple Ave.) that is down to host casuals (would be on thursdays), but they don't have monitors (they have 2 HD TVs that we could use, but nothing else). They said they'll wave venue fee for anyone who brings a full setup though. If turnout's good they'll look into investing into some monitors, it's just that as of right now they're mainly a tabletop/card game venue (although they also hold melee tournaments). So if you could bring a monitor there post here so we'll know if we have enough set-ups to be able to get something going
-
There's no plans for anime stuff as far as I know, but I'm not involved with ignite, so if they have anything planed I wouldn't know
-
Yeah, there's usually a couple of bb setups at ignite Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

GGA is having some construction done (Eddie's post about it http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sou01l) so after this week weeklies and monthlies will be on a hiatus. Tomorrow is still on, but after that keep your ear to the ground. For a reminder on the other stuff in chicago: Ignite hosts weeklies every monday that are mainly SF5, but all games are welcome. Also they have a monthly coming up for SF5 and Xrd (unsure if non-SF/xrd casuals are allowed at the monthly) this saturday (details for the monthly here:https://smash.gg/tournament/mix-up-monthly-2-1/details). For Xrd a lot of the chicago players regularly set-up lobbies and/or host casuals at their place, It's not exactly super orginized and you'll need to contact various folks directly, but if you follow shinsin on twitter (https://twitter.com/cj_shinsin) he'll probably tweet out/RT that stuff. There is also a chicago anime discord server where you're likely to hear about players organizing a trip to R1 or anything like that. If you want an invite PM/DM me on some website somewhere. Also since we've lost the weekly uni physical venue I might try and organize/stream weekly uni netplay lobbies or something, I'll probably post about that on twitter if it develops
-
Yeah more or less, when there's xrd tournaments there's less time/set-ups for uni, but there's always uni players around. BBCPE is usually played too. We were off today cause of evo but next week is still on.
-
There's a parking lot at GGA, it's pretty small but if it fills up there's also street parking behind the building (it's a residential street, but as long as you don't block someone's driveway you're fine)

Results from Ghostnitial D: 1st FlameIce 2nd Frankentank 3rd Zerashi (There's no jack-o face apparently, but he was using jack-o) Next tournament is set for 8/12, then 9/9 ((Edit: uhhh, never mind, GGA monthlies and weeklies are on hiatus while they handle some construction/arcade/production stuff)) Also there's been talk on the chicago anime discord about isuka 2v2s, and I'm down for that if there are players. ((woops turns out I wrote this post and then forgot to hit reply))

Results from June GGA tournaments Since the under night and blazblue tournaments have basically been getting the same turnout those games normally have at casual nights, we're gonna switch back to the old format of having tournaments for those games every week. Xrd monthlies will still happen as normal. The next one is on July 8th.

So when you tech in exe:late (probably still in ST) there's a couple of frames where you're forced into a standing hurtbox. What this means is you effectively get the gord/wald instant overhead mix-up on everyone but only on their wake-up. You can get a set-up that lets you hit overhead with Azhi biting at just the right timing to confirm pretty easily by doing anything>214c>66c>immediate 22b>immediate rising assault j.a if they wake-up standing you can of course low them, and once you get them watching for assault start-up you can go for a grab right before the bite hits. Here's a video showing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvCxaWL859Y&feature=youtu.be

Results from the may GGA tournaments Don't forget to come on 6/10 for Ghostcross 7 which will feature guilty gear and melty blood. As well as 6/24 for The Galaxy is Ghosting Me which will feature Blazblue and Under night. For guilty gear we'll be running on PS4, for melty we'll be running it on laptops. Undernight and blazblue will both be PS3. $5 venue fee and $5 tournament entry. Venue fee is waved if you bring a console and game for tournament. The July tournaments will be on 7/8 for guilty gear and 7/29 for BB/uni.

Results from the April GGA tournaments The May tournaments have a name, 5/13 will be Super Ghost Chan and will feature Revelator as well as melty blood (Melty blood probably wont get streamed) and 5/20 will be Super Ghost Chan exe:late featuring blazblue and under night. Revelator will obviously be on PS4, melty will be running on laptops, and both blazblue and under night will be running on PS3. As normal it's a $5 venue fee and $5 tournament entry, if you bring a console that can run one of the tournament games venue fee is a waved. Tournaments should start ~9 but make sure to show up earlier to sign up. And of course there'll be time for casuals both before and after tournament. Dates for june should be 6/10 for xrd and 6/24 for uni/bb. They're subject to change but if they do I'll edit this post and probably say something on twitter. Also, unrelated to tournaments, there's now a chicago anime discord server, if you want an invite hit me up on twitter.

GGA is going to be short staffed on friday this week, so no casuals, the uni/bb monthly is still on for the 29th though
-
Results from Bubbleghost crisis & chicago 2040: The dates for April will be 4/15 for xrd and nitro+ and 4/29 for under night and blazblue. Both xrd and nitro+ will be run on PS4 as we'll be running the revelator demo rather than sign, so be prepared to play on PS4, and if you can bring a revelator set-up please do. Uni and BB will both be on PS3 as always. Off weeks are still casuals for all anime, and we'll still be streaming more random stuff like round robins. The dates for may will be 5/13 for xrd/nitro+, and 5/20 for uni/bb edit: Forgot the names for the April tournaments, they will be Ghostective Conan on the 15th and Phantom Ghost Kid on the 29th
