Maybe we should call the cops next time he tries to sell drugs?

Extra weird thing to mention: if 22x trades (as in chaos is hit right when azhi bites) azhi finishes the bite and wont die unless chaos is still in hitstun. You can test it by makeing 22as trade in training mode. It looks really funny too.

If merkava decides to play it safe it's basically impossible to hit him, you have to catch them messing up and use that momentum to carry you. Vs eltnum you can't really approach because her neutral options are incredibly good and very safe, instead you have to try and zone her out or use azhi to whiff punish at range and confirm. If she has you in pressure just keep blocking and shielding eventually she'll have to try and throw you or get pushed out which will create an opening for you to hit her(or tech the throw). The character doesn't really have any weaknesses, there's nothing to exploit, you just have to be a lot smarter than your opponent. Vatista isn't that bad. If she's zoning you out just shield everything, it's free grd. If she concentrates you can too, Chaos builds grd about as fast (faster? I know it's written down somewhere but I don't remember where). Keep an eye out for laser and be mindful of what she's charging. Learn your 6C's range so you'll know when a fireball can be reflected to hit her and when you'll just whiff. Also, never throw out 6C in neutral unless you CS it immediately, good vats will laser on reaction every time.

It is theoretically possible to beat carmines ex grab with 66b (all ex grabs are jumpable on super flash), but the timing to do it consistantly without reacting to superflash is too hard to be viable. 5bb is the better option. Im pretty sure you can meaty 5b, then hit with 5bb (you may have to not perfectly meaty, until we get frame data on when the throw invun starts/ends I can't be sure), alternatively you can meaty with an air normal. That will beat all option except stand sheild, which you can throw/low him for trying

[UNIEL] System Mechanics (Updated: April 20th, 2015)

As chaos do 236c cancel into bc then grab in between the hits of azhi, its possible to gold grab so you need to delay a little bit. -
You're doing it right on top of them, what I'm saying is if you jump past them such that hyde and the fireball are behind the opponent it creates an all blockable situation. Even though both hyde and the fireball are on the other side. Here's a video of what I'm talking about. It's also possible to do it such that hyde lands behind the opponent, it's still blockable in all directions if you do that. If the fireball has some kind of "side of origin" it's independent of it's own sprite and of hyde's. It could be "the point from where hyde jumped" but then hyde neutral jumping, doing orbiter, and the opponent running under him should cause it to cross-up (it becomes all blockable in that situation as well). In this situation you are always able to block in the direction hyde is facing(chainshit corrects his direction, causing an actual cross-up to happen), which would make sense as the rule, but chaos's cross-ups happen despite him not turning around. So neither rule appears to be universal.

The extra cross-up protection you mention while walking backwards is tied exclusively to walking and not to stand blocking. This is totally irrelevant to all characters except merkava, vatista, and hilda since everyone else must walk backwards in order to stand block. The 3 characters I mentioned appear to have extra long get-up animations that are (seemingly) cancelable into anything except walking. I don't see it listed anywhere that being in veil off generates extra grd (seemingly from all grd gaining actions, most noticable while blocking in veil off) Also, veil off isn't exactly fully invincible, it can be grabbed by gordeau's 214b assimilation and the grab that comes at the end of his rekka. If the VO gets grabbed by gord's rekka it will be gold grabbed no matter what, I suspect the devs put in an "always gold grab" flag or something on VO. 214b doesn't gold grab, but that move seems to never gold grab. That being said no other grabs seem to catch VO. Also, I have a tick grab that is never gold and counter-grabs akatsuki close C(9F) (it also grabs gord 623b which should also be 9F), but loses to akatsuki 2b(8F) since attacks beat throws on same frame activation (as it says in the first post) that should mean the throw comes out 8 frames after blockstun has ended(Unless I'm misunderstanding the frame data, or the data is wrong) which should mean gold grab stun (or whatever it's called) lasts for 7F or less after blockstun (you say no less than 7, so I assume it's exactly 7). -
I was crouch blocking, I block it either direction. I'm pretty sure I've been crossed up by it without CS, but I'll ask my local hyde tomorrow at casuals what his set-up is and confirm. Are you talking about the system mechanics page on the wiki? Or is there a thread somewhere? I'll share what I know if you don't have it

In that hyde example the fireball's point of origin would have to be well behind hyde's sprite for that to be true, at no point during that sequence was hyde in front of the defending character. It is possible to cross-up with orbiter though, I've seen it happen, something involving rekkas>ex orbiter. I think there's something about the rekkas that gets around the detection since it seems like it's not possible to cross-up raw. Is there an interview where the devs have talked about this BTW?
-
What you said is only sometimes true. As hyde you can jump past the opponent and do ex orbiter, its blockable in both directions. Both hyde and the fireball are behind the opponent but the cross-up is prevented.
-
It does, if you watch the video hyde is blocking normally and still gets hit. Cross-up protection in this game seems to make absolutely no sense, I think some things are just hard coded to break it, but that's just my guess.
-
This one's kinda gimmicky, but it's cool in pressure you can do 22c>roll and it'll cross-up unless you're super far away. Alternatively you can do 22c>66b(or dash>any other normal, but 66b beats throw so I like it best.) to beat the opponent blocking cross-up. Alternatively alternatively you can assault and do an overhead to beat them blocking cross-up or low blocking. Most normals will bop 66b/assault but they'll whiff through roll. For stuff that'll bop both (gord 6c, a lot of longish range moves) you can block and they'll get eaten by Azhi. It's probably not worth the meter TBH, but when you need the last hit or when veil off is about to end anyway why not? Oh and wald will punish 22c with 360b so never do this vs him(other characters can maybe do other stuff)
-
Figured I'd post this here as well as in the main thread since it's hyde specific (variants probably exist for other characters) Also while I'm here notes on rolling through stuff gord: 5C- When you punish 2a>2b will whiff because God hates you. Instead do 2b>2c>stuff. It should work. 236a- The only punish you get is throw, but you are mad plus, so if you'd rather have pressure you can do that. 623a- You can get a 2a punish also, gord's hitbox is messed up and so 22a/b>5c/2c>combo is really hard in this match(still possible though) wald: Everything you roll leaves him at + frames #RIP yuzu: In order to roll a sword slash and punish you'd need to be really close. Given how fast the slashes are you'd need to roll extremely early. Not a viable strat IMO Carmine: If he does 6[c] in a blockstring and you roll it you're like +2 or 3. Also sometimes 6[c] just beats 2b IDK maybe I just have bad reactions.

Here's some mix-up stuff I thought I posted but then it turned out I didn't Basically you can meaty 2b while baiting hyde DP. Nice. ALSO you can do it as an alternative to cross-up for a left/right that's safe vs DP. Cool. ALSO you can otg with 66c instead, set azhi, roll and fake cross-up to blow up opponents who are reacting to roll(while still being safe vs DP). Neat. Other characters who you can meaty/bait: Linne: after otg 66c > 22b > max range 2c, you'll trade with her DP Akatsuki: after otg 2c > 22b > take a step back and do 2c/5c(5c is kinda finicky) this wont meaty though, so wake up 5b will beat you There's probably other ones but I'm too lazy to find them right now. Experiment! Edit: found another one vs hyde, Throw > take a step back > 2b It isn't meaty, so it trades with some fast stuff and loses to reversal 214b, but it beats dp

Keep an eye on this topic and maybe the FB group for future tournaments and maybe ranbat news. P4 is bound to have a comeback sometime before evo.
-
Sometimes. At gga we do xrd and unib consistantly, if p4 players show up we can also do p4 (theres usually casuals at least). At ignite we do 2v2s, nothing's set as of right now for 2v2 rotation, sometimes theres a casuals setup but they turn into xrd pretty quickly these days. If you show up for a monthly or something itll probably be there

Sure The reason I have ?s next to shimazakai's name is that the kanji are hard to make out in that vid, so I could be wrong. Shout outs to !lucky(IDK if he's on dustloop) for helping me decipher the kanjiEdit: more videos

Someone mentioned him earlier as motochi, its very possibe I read the name wrong since I dont actually know any japanese, I just looked up the kana. Him and papupepu/purple people/pppp are the top jp chaos players who still play I think, thoug I havent seen a vid of purps in a while. There's also aoki and someone else who's card I can't read that are in recent videos

the player name says motochika

At gga we usually have free double elim tournaments for xrd and unib, sometimes we also do tournaments for other games too, but its usually played by ear. This week specifically I was planning on doing a tetris tournament at gga along side the normal stuff.
-
I'm gonna bring yomi (david sirlin's card game) to ignite tonight. There's a lot of decks/characters so I might not have all of them. If anyone wants me to bring a specific deck let me know.
-
Noah wanted to do xrd ranbats I think. We usually do single elim 2v2s at igndte and rotate games. The rotation was bb/p4a/unib but since bb died out we've just been winging it. If theres no ranbat Id expect unib/xrd/dfc/maybe p4a with 2 2v2s a week. If you wanna pay theres always monthlies or you could throw in a pot bonus. But we've traditionaly done free tournaments for weeklies to be as inclusive as possible.
