  1. The problem with the whole oki thing is that the guys I play know that I get scared of DPs, which is definitely something that plagues me. I used to take advantage of 6B oki, but the fact that my opponents would literally always wake up DP conditioned me to take a step back on knockdown. So now I wind up respecting my opponent too much and instead opt for one shot mixups rather than staying up in that ass until they die. I've been working hard on my DP baits, but it still feels like the biggest hole in my gameplay. If I didn't give a shit about DPs, I would indeed do as you suggested. I just have a ton of trouble learning, as every time I ask "Hey, I play Valk and I'm free to DPs, 4D isn't working out for me. What other options do I have?" The only response I get is "Just bait it lol." which isn't exactly ideal :/ I was also totally aware of the non optimal combos. Like I mentioned, I was on a huge monster of a pad that made the trickier and more damaging combos quite difficult to land, so I played it safe and went with what I knew I could pull off. Thanks for input again man, good to see that I've visibly gotten better. It's nice hearing it from someone else rather that assuring myself all the time XD
  2. There is a big tourney this weekend and a BBCP team set was recorded on twitch. My matches are at 6:55 (Hakumen), 33:06 (Hazama), and 38:07 (Jin). Note that I was playing on a pad that I wasn't used to as my regular one isn't tourney legal, so I sometimes ended up wolf dashing in the wrong direction or dropping combos and making an ass of myself. I do feel like I've improved from my last video. Also, forgive the incessant yelling, those are the MVC3 guys... PS: I know I am free to Jin's mixup. I hate that character with a burning passion. http://www.twitch.tv/schneiderx204/b/494288122
  3. I hated Extend Ragna as much as the next guy, but Koko seems way beyond him in terms of douchebaggery. Of course, I play Valkenhayn so I'm not allowed to complain.
  4. So I'm thinking of learning Junpei when I import P4U2, but I have one question. What does it take for this guy to do big damage? I have yet to see Junpei break the 3.5K mark. Is he just still in early stages of discovery, or his he just one of those characters that has good damage conversion rather than big numbers?
  5. As someone who regularly plays a Kokonoe player, I can attest that she is not ban worthy. She IS however really, really, really freaking good. She is one of those characters that you need to study the matchup for or you'll get blown up so hard. I find that it's actually not so terrible because you can just touch her and mix her up until she's dead, and she has almost no answer to it. Just learn her strings and block like you've never blocked before. Black hole setups on the other hand are kind of BS, fortunately I play a character who has ways around it, but the fact that it works 100% of the time on certain characters is absurd. So yeah. Make that confirm count.
  6. That's good to hear. I'm also aware that she isn't unplayable levels of bad, but the problem is virtually everyone in my scene uses top tiers besides one Kanji and one Akihiko, so every time I play it devolves into me getting destroyed XD Thanks for the little bit of info though, I'll be sure to check back in after she develops a bit more!
  7. Hey, I have played Labby pretty much since the release of P4A, but I never took it all that seriously because she simply got stomped by just about any member of the cast. I just want to know if she has gotten better in P4U2. I've been looking at her changes and they all seem really nice, but I haven't seen an actual verdict on whether or not she has moved up from "worst character in the game" status. Any info would be awesome!!
  8. Might jump on soon if I don't feel like losing myself in Ni No Kuni for the rest of the night. Come on guys, I haven't played for a week, it's free wins for you!
  9. What kind of character is Bedman exactly? I really dig his design and wouldn't mind checking him out once the game is available.
  10. This is incredibly effective dude! Thank you so much! This will help me tremendously since I'm so free to DPs XD
  11. I had this problem initially as well, Dreize. But I found a way that works for me. It may sound a bit awkward, but do it while resting your entire thumb slightly sideways on A, C, and D. Once the time for braking comes around, roll your thumb from D to C to A in a triangle motion. D should be just around the underside of where your thumb joint is, and C/A should be on the pad of your thumb. If you find bing B and C to a shoulder buttons, go ahead. But I've found braking to be a cakewalk so far using my method, though I suppose it varies from person to person.
  12. Hehe, truth be told I only started writing them because no one else would. It's the reason I made a DL account. Everywhere else I asked, I would just get people saying "lol Valk has no bad matchups!" So I took it upon myself to whether the storm and do it myself. Thanks for the guide by the way, the CP matchup feels VERY similar to the Extend matchup, so your guide should help a bunch!
  13. You are aware that Hakumen is a thing in this game, right? His damage is great, but nowhere near Haku or Koko. Also, blocking his mixup is fairly simple once you know his options. And like I stated in the guide, rapid cancel shenanigans are very effective with him, but this just a basic guide for Terumi on a fundamental level, and a basic Terumi player on a fundamental level is not likely to be doing RC IAD cross up overheads and shit a la Jin.
  14. It was mostly a joke, Magaki. My grasp on humor is so pathetic that I stooped to using a Ragna 5B joke, because those totally haven't been around since CT :P But to stay on topic, Ranga can IB 5B so much of your pressure its ridiculous. Same goes for ID, but I'm just totally free to DPs.
  15. So I got some matches in with the local Ragna tonight. Will update to a legit match guide at some point. Until then, I leave you all with this: - 5B > your mixup
  16. Going to another FGC gathering tonight. I'll come back with enough info for a new matchup guide. It will be for either Hakumen, Kokonoe, or Ragna. I'm gunning for Koko since she is a hot topic right now. Now for something actually on topic. I'm having trouble baiting DPs and whatnot. Maybe I'm not using proper movement, but the only real bait that seems to work for me is 7D/4D > 4C > 4D > punish. What are some good movement options that you dudes use to bait shit?
  17. So I messed around with Kagura some more and I'm loving him (getting 4K off of any confirm is nice). But what I would like to know is what are his optimal blockstrings, given that Kagura is almost Noel-like in his drive mechanics, what strings work best during block pressure?
  18. Valentine represent! *fistbump*
  19. Ggs to P4uplayer. Nu makes me feel bad about life. A solemn reminder that I am totally free to zoning.
  20. That's actually a super good combo! I must have skimmed over it in the combo list. Thanks, Dreize! I just figured mine would be an easier confirm for those not used to Valk's corner carry combos yet, that's all.
  21. Came up with a great midscreen to corner combo. CH w.5C > 236A > 4D > 5D > h.( 2C > 6B > 2C > j.B > 214B > 9D ) j.B > j.A > 5D > h.( 5B > 236A > 5B > 2C > j.B > j.B > j.C ) 3504 Damage, 25 Heat gain.
  22. I started taking Blazblue seriously late into Extends life cycle. I dabbled with just about every character except one. Valkenhayn. I never wanted to play as some wrinkly old man! This ignorance continued until I tried his challenge mode and learned his super basic 5K corner combos. More and more, I practiced with the old fart. I just felt like I was in control every time I used him. Fast forward almost a year and a half, and I'm a full fledged Valk main. He is really hard to use, yet rewarding. On top of that, he is seldom used so people get excited to watch me play, and just about all his combos are super swag
  23. Hey charge people, I've decided to start messing around with Kagura as my sub. I have some basic combos down, but my big question is how does Kagura play neutral? I understand throwing sonic booms works well enough, but what would you say are his ideal pokes and gameplan in neutral? Help a wolfman out.
  24. Ggs dude. That matchup makes me want to tear my hair out. Equally embarrassing is the fact that I won precisely zero games. I do feel better about Nu now though, definitely a tricky neutral game, it feels like it revolves around whoever gets mauled first at the match start. Once again, ggs. Hope to play you again! Also: What is a wolf to do against well endowed Chinese ladies. Litchi is just absurd
  25. You and I should get some games in. I really need some Nu experience after BloodWolf mopped the floor with me. That, and Valkenhayn players are apparently some kind of valuable commodity. Ya know ya wanna play :P
