I'm going to weigh in on this a bit despite the fact that this thread is two years old. I've been playing with the FC4 for almost a year now, and it's an extremely comfortable pad that I enjoy a lot, but I have some grievances with it. I own two, and the first one had its d-pad completely loosened after only a month or so of use. I'm hearing other people complain about the lack of durability on the FC4 as well so I know it's not an isolated incident. This is particularly a problem for games like the ones DL covers for obvious reasons. DS4 is an option since it works on PS3/PS4 AND PC just like the FC4, and it's actually seeing a sizable amount of use competitively. However I have heard horror stories of sync problems and especially problems with the share button on PS4. I've never actually used one so I don't know how good it is or if it has the same god awful triggers and cheap build that the DS3 had. PS4 hasn't been treating stick players much better because there's a minimal amount of things they can use, but Madcatz have at least thrown them a bone, which is more than they do for us, that SFV fightpad looks like a god damn abomination lol.

[CF] Nine the Phantom General Discussion Thread
Poultrygeist replied to Monarch's topic in Nine the Phantom
Like mother like daughter am I right. Yeah but that's still pretty fast start up for a meterless tracking overhead projectile. I'm not saying I see it as a problem but considering what they did to black hole I can see it getting the boot. -
Well in SFV's case it seems to be quality over quantity, because every SF game launches with a very small amount of characters. 16 is a reasonable number given how unique and well-designed they all are, and the fact that we've had opportunities to play the game for ourselves and give feedback to Capcom has also been a tremendous help. For someone like me who disliked XIII's nerfing of midrange normals to encourage rushdown gameplay, I'm at least happy that XIV has undone that. That doesn't mean it's instantly 10/10 hype but it does show me that they seem to be interested in making things make more sense. I do agree that a 50 character roster seems like too much because I"m again a quality over quantity person.

Central Fiction Arcade Plot Discussion (spoilers)
Poultrygeist replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
"Ghost Trinity" possessing Jin's body so they can have a new character while re using assets, you get Jin's sprites but with Aoi Yuki voice. Have fun. -
This is probably what I'll do. If I enter a tournament it still gets support but I don't have to subject myself to it for long. Although at the same time I do feel like I'm just doing a disservice to the other players by giving them a potential opponent who doesn't want to be there, but they can't really complain because I'm throwing away my own money for their sake lol.

When I was trying to discover who I wanted to play in GG, Greatfernman suggested that Zato was the closest GG has to Relius, so I think you might like him more. As for a comprehensive overview of him, I'd suggest skimming his wiki page but if you have specific questions come visit us in the Relius subforum, we're not as active or populated as other character subforums so we'd be happy to answer anything specific (or more specifically, DP and Myoro would because they know the character more than I do) but as for some of the most important things IMO. Relius's strength is of course his very scary pressure and his ability to not only punish mistakes, but force them to be made. If you're creative and good at learning your opponent's patterns then you can give people a really hard time with him. His weakness is that his defense is pretty horrible due to having no reliable reversal, and having his backdash subsequently nerfed across versions. When you can safely get Ignis out, do so. You can do this off things like making your opponent block a 5B or 2B or off a knockdown like 3C. Many Relius players choose to summon her with 5D/2D rather than follow ups to Id Lauger (236C) because it doesn't drain the meter. Once she's out you can do all manner of nasty things. One of the most common and basic things is the 5B->6D loop, which is exactly what it sounds like. It's a real combo but also a blockstring and you can even delay or stagger the timing to throw them off, as well as throw in 3C or 6A and then make them safe with another 6D. You have three follow ups with Id Lauger, but midscreen two of them are particularly important. The A followup sends the opponent further away from Relius and the B one drops them closer to him so you can continue pressure. After the B one, you can adapt to their option in some ways, for instance if they try to jump out you can hit 4D and Ignis will tag them out the air, or if they try to backdash you can potentially chase with 6D. If you get a knockdown in the corner or very close to it, you can do an unblockable safejump by cancelling the knockdown (usually 3C) into 236D and then executing a well timed j.5C. If you do it right, they will be unable to block as the 236D hits low and the j.5C is an overhead. If they opt to delay tech or roll, you can trade the j.5C for a 3C which gets you a combo. Sadly this setup is going to be gone as of CF due to him getting a new 236D, but fortunately that new 236D is a command grab. Since you're a Zato player, I'm sure you'd be thrilled to have a bootleg Damned Fang, although it's not quite the same thing because in this case it's the puppet doing the grab. This is of course not everything, just a few intermediate things that I thought might help you out a bit. Lich (one of the more successful NA Relius players) wrote up a nice guide but it's based on vanilla CP, so there is some obsolete information in there. I hope you decide to go with Relius because I'm biased and he's my favorite character.

They say the game is 70% finished so I think it's been in development for a while. If that roster leak turns out to be true I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the characters are all finished or close to finished, but that's definitely not the same thing as the game being done.

am I the only one prefering sign visuals over revelator?
Poultrygeist replied to DaiDensetsu's topic in Guilty Gear General
That's not preferring Sign over Revelator, that's preferring the visuals of Sign over the visuals of Revelator. There's nothing wrong with that, no, but the way you worded it is a bit inaccurate. -
Depends on how long it's been in development. If it's been going on for a while then who knows how many are actually finished right now.

Close slash. Slash universally has two different forms, one when you're close and one when you're not, which essentially makes them completely different normals. For example Bedman's c.S is a vertical hitting buzzsaw slam thing, while his f.S is the buzzsaws being stabbed outwards at the opponent. As this is only true for stand slash attacks, you won't see this with the crouch or air versions.

Fang is the best, haters pls go. Not every character is going to be some generic big boob waifu or joke character.

Yeah man I know they're not gonna stop being my friends over it, I just like spending time with them so I don't know where I should go with this. I've been actually trying to usher in people to play BB and have already gotten like 3 people into the game, we're making good progress in growing the scene but I just don't want the GG guys to feel bad that I don't support their game anymore, since Arcsys games need all the help they can get even in Texas where GG is popular.

[CF] Relius changes, loketest news, other stuff
Poultrygeist replied to Poultrygeist's topic in Relius Clover
Please do make the index, I would find that to be a very good resource. -
I'm pretty much in the latter, it's not even that I like the game but would rather play BB, every single moment that I'm playing GG makes me wish I was doing almost literally anything else. I'm actually scared to tell my friends because I worry that I'll just disappoint them and let them down, even though we play non GG fighters a lot mostly VSav and Melty with the occasional SF, but GG is what we bonded over so it's a bit of a sore situation to me. This is where the problem lies. This post really made me think and it helps a lot, thank you very much. 1.I extremely strongly disagree with focusing on netplay because even without the lag it's an inferior experience due to the community aspect being drastically reduced by playing over an internet connection instead of in person and real time. I'm also worried about a horrible connection because BB's netcode is not perfect (when will companies that aren't Capcom learn to accept rollback?) and due to bad weather we've been having I'm worried about my connection being poor on top of that. That said I'm not opposed to netplay or actively dislike it, and I do try to play as often as I can. 2.I like this idea but...the game is literally so tedious to me that I almost can't do this. Unless the people I'm playing with are really cool and we're just fucking around then I can't get any enjoyment out of it. It feels like I'm settling for a product I like significantly less rather than just playing a different game than my favorite. I don't know, I'll find a solution to this, these posts do help so I really appreciate you taking the time to give me advice.

That makes no sense at all. Neutral and execution are two completely different skillsets. It also doesn't disprove my point because your execution is literally meaningless if your neutral is so bad you can't even get momentum started.

What are the most annoying playstyles?
Poultrygeist replied to ViolaSorel's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
I love the air, especially when people sit in it all day and get 2C counterhit into a beefy combo : ) -
So it's generally assumed that if you want results in anything, especially in fighters, you should be persistent enough to stick it out and overcome your weaknesses. Usually it's a bad idea to just give up when a specific character or matchup is causing you problems. This thread isn't for any of that, I'm not here because I'm mad at not being able to win. I have a different problem entirely. I'm not going to make any friends by saying this, but I think it's necessary if I'm going to get anywhere with this thread. I don't enjoy Guilty Gear at all. I haven't enjoyed it since I played it for the first time back in like 2006, and I'm not really enjoying it now all these years later, and I'm not accomplishing anything by continuing to pretend I do, which is a facade I've put up even through my posts on here. None of these characters really appeal to me, the system to me is tedious and boring, and all I can think about when I play it is how much I wish I was playing BB instead. When I win, I don't feel accomplished or fulfilled, but perhaps more distressing is that when I lose, I don't feel the motivational salt necessary to improve myself. My reactions to the outcome of the match are the same as to the match itself, complete apathy. But none of that matters because this is not a "GG sux, BB rulz" bash thread, I'm trying to get help if I can. So why do I play it? I have a very simple answer for that question. I play it because Texas does not care about BB at all and because it's it's as close as I'm going to get. However, through GG I have made some great friends and met some really cool people from the community. This leads me to my dilemna. Should I continue pretending that I don't despise GG for their sake, or do I drop the pretense entirely and lose out on the closest thing I have to playing what I do want to play? I also feel obligated to continue supporting GG because again it's as close as I'm going to get, and also because I want to continue being friendly with our GG scene (Texas is a bit of a GG hotstpot) and minimalize tensions. If you want an example of how I feel, think of how many VF players forced themselves to play DOA5 because it was close as they were going to get to playing VF6, or perhaps more accurately...how some GG players forced themselves to play BBCT when it came out because GG was AWOL at the time. Please help, I'll take any advice I can. Should I continue trying to stomach a game I dislike because I feel pressured to do so for a variety of reasons, or should I just let go despite the risks involved? And please don't turn this into any more of a BB vs GG thread than it absolutely has to be, this is not the time nor place for shit flinging since that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Well I mean the range isn't even that much worse than the average DA is. In fact by DA standards I think it's pretty solid all thinks considered. As for it being easy to bait, that's why you should never be predictable with your options. If Ky is doing faceroll flowchart pressure on you then that's when you should DA (or at the very least FD him away). Don't just fall into the habit of DAing every time you get tired of blocking.
-
If you have the meter why not go for it? As long as you aren't getting baited it's certainly better than sitting there blocking until you have to deal with a j.5K/emptyjump 2K mixup.

[CF] Relius changes, loketest news, other stuff
Poultrygeist replied to Poultrygeist's topic in Relius Clover
Two questions. 1.I haven't seen much of RYO playing lately, should we be keeping tabs on Maabukapu for time being? In fact Relius as a whole seems to be a bit more of a unicorn than usual at this time in CF's existence. 2.Should we make a new thread now that the game is actually out? This one is mostly pre-release/early news, do you guys think it's run its course or should we keep it? -
And I still don't get Nightmare Fiction for Terumi vs Ragna? Yeah well fuck you too Mori lol
