Uncivilized Elk replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/18/discussing-guilty-gear-xrd-signs-tech-daisuke-ishiwatari/ God I hope that crossover never happens. Team Red is the good team. I don't want it contaminated with Team Blue. -

I'm one of those people who wants danger time gone. Just seems... too gimmicky. -

That's pretty much the only one so far I was actually able to tolerate. Though everything up to the ending still felt like utter tedium, at least Slayer wasn't as cringe-inducing as most of the other characters. Probably because he was one of the few characters written to feel like he had an IQ above that of a 7 year old. And for context, I've never played a fighting game where I liked the story. I'm also harsh on story quality though, and I'm not going to settle with medicority just because of a medium or relative "goodness". I thought P4A story was also utter tripe (but then again I never much enjoyed the stories of P3 or P4 either, and that includes the inter-character interactions since the stories themselves are so basic they may as well be non-existent). GG was just unfortunately one of those cases where playing the story mode created dislike for characters where there was no dislike before. "Plot" aside, it's the personalities and interactions that just made me cringe. I absolutely adore the actual gameplay and I think the character designs are probably amongst my favorite in fighting games. Everything constructed about those characters beyond those two factors I'd just rather ignore though, and this also creates some background-level disdain for the choices in Xrd to include characters based of how they fit into the story. -

So people talking about characters and their quirks, here comes my ultra negative comment. I'm gonna go ahead and say that apart from the design, I loathe pretty much everything about all the GG characters. I wish I never played their story modes. I played some and wondered "they can't all be this atrocious can they?" They were; they were all atrocious. Playing some of the story modes actually made me like most of the characters LESS, and I hope to one day forget my unfortunate experiences entirely. And this isn't about the characters being funny or quirky or whatnot, I usually prefer that. It's just that the characters and the writing around them was so immensely godawful. GG is entirely visual to me. Screw what the characters actually are beyond their looks and playstyles. I'm still on the ropes on whether I'm going to force myself through the story modes in Xrd. -

Fuck that pink shit. Color swapping to green would be OK though. -

If they are going with the philosophy that they want to emphasize on having characters that make it be as diverse as possible... Fuck, I have no idea which of the original characters would make the cut next. But screw that, let us just complain about our favorite characters! I want A.B.A. in goddammit! -

I'm another person who hasn't touched EX characters. I picked up A.B.A. in +R recently and now I'm super bummed she won't be in Xrd. -

Lol... helped. You mean they got all the material already created, decided to scrap it all, and remade the entire game in 6 months by themselves XD. Sorry, that's off-topic, but yeah. If you do have independent studios, especially ones that keep themselves from going broke by the skin of their teeth, they will collaborate on anything as long as they get paid. I honestly don't know how many studios of that sort exist though, and Platinum Games is surely the only one I keep track of because they are pretty damn amazing. -

Not too fond of the shoulders, but the picture on the right makes Sol look so damn boring. Definitely prefer what they actually went with. -
Whos taking time off when XRD finally releases for console?

I'm in Hawaii. If anyone is going to be complaining about lag it's me. If this thing can run online better than P4A (which is just barely good enough for BnBs to be possible for me), I'll be happy. If it's identical to P4A online I'll be neutral. I hope I can be happy... -

I'm new to GG but, god, I hope GG never gets a ground teching system implemented. Screw that. Screw that hard. Being new to the game I find the lack of ground teching actually very fun and refreshing. And I can't believe that many people (speaking about in general all over the internet) equate easiness and simplicity. A game can have easy executions and still be ridiculously deep and complex! Sometimes for specific mechanics high execution barriers may be necessary because simple ones will alter gameplay in a negative way, but if those mechanics can be replaced by more interesting/varied easy ones it doesn't make game any less deep. Hopefully YRC and PRC can match the depth of FRCs. Whether they do or not has nothing to do with how the game was made simpler in terms of execution though. I admit I don't know enough about dubs to say how well a dub will affect game sales. My gut instinct screams no dub so they can put that money elsewhere in development. However if dubbing is a gamble that is actually more likely to profit from game sales, well then obviously it's the best choice. Also, speaking of Mike Z, Mike Z hates a lot of things. He hates P4A. But his preference for style of fighting game isn't exactly equivalent to how good it is. Some people don't like the style of MvC2 and Skullgirls. Doesn't mean they are default bad fighting games now. SSBBrawl is a bad fighting game - not because of the style (as Melee is great) - but because of the putrid mechanics, depth, and flow of the game. -
How do you tell if you did it right and got the invincibility?

So... do the character voices not sound like garbled audio recorded on a potato anymore? That's my biggest question when it comes to sound. -
So Slayer can give his specials some invincibility by tiger knee-ing them from his dash, right? Can anybody give me a good way and tips to practice that? (Also is it still in Xrd?)

OK, well that knowledge alone helps a lot. I'm new to GG and did not realize there were invincibility frames on that level of significance for throws. Thanks. -

I can't do grabs in this game for shit. And I don't mean literally, I mean in a match against a human. For whatever reason I can never get a grab to work mid-blockstring, I can never get a grab to work out of the blue, on the opponent's wake-up I get grabbed by them when I'm trying to grab them instead! Can anybody explain anything and everything that could make me better understand grabs in this game? -
So I'm pretty much a newb, at FGs in general but especially in regards to Guilty Gear. I need some help with a combo I've seen but can't pull off, or I guess I need somebody to tell me whether it isn't a true combo after all. 2D 236S 236K 5P So they bounce from the 236K, but the CPU in training ALWAYS techs before my 5P connects. Anybody got any tips on timing this or is this not a true combo? Also, can anybody tell me what's the best thing to do from 41236K? I realize it's not a great move but I'd still like to know what's a decent follow-up.
