  1. I agree, it looks more awkward than Sol's arms being beefy, by which all means they were when he was a sprite - it just didn't look as puffy due to the graphical style of sprite vs. model. The edit makes Sol's legs look silly (silly thin), and they went overboard on reducing the size of his arms. It's amusing how people STILL assume the developers didn't try out a variety of designs prior for settling for the current one. I mean come on. The shoulder curve is the main thing that gives it that strange puffy look, but the problem is if you reduce it Sol's arms are too beefy relative to the shoulder and he looks anatomically incorrect. And if you make his entire arm skinnier then he just looks like he failed the bodybuilding that his waist to upper body proportions clearly imply he does. The problem IMO clearly lies in the style shift from sprites to models, and this was the best balance they were able to settle for. It's easier to make steroid abuse look less grotesque in sprite form. That's probably also why they armored up Potemkin. Frame DATA being different will straight-up desynch the PS3 to PS4 online play. Question is though whether frame DROPS can also do that. If the frame rate being more unstable in the PS3 version also causes desynchs, obviously we have nothing to worry about. If it doesn't though, then potentially (though obviously everybody hopes not and it seems unlikely) the PS3 version may run at a slightly less stable frame rate. I mentioned before that I doubt loading times being different will cause any sort of desynch (otherwise installing data for better loading on disc games that have online would ruin the online, and it doesn't), so it is plausible it will take some extra seconds for the match to load on the PS3 relative to the PS4.
  2. Oh I wasn't calling you lame or anything, nor am I saying that "lameness" is neccesarily a bad thing. We just recently had a thread here I think about somebody being new to GG and wondering what characters work for "lame" play. Seeing more of Sin in action just made me feel like he might be the top choice for somebody who likes to go with that sort of playstyle. I didn't quite realize just how far his reach is until now, and was also amazed he can poke through gunflame at 3/4 screen. Still, I'm sure he could work as a rushdown for a chunk of time, as his bar does seem to take like what, 5 - 6 specials to fully deplete when you're at half hunger meter? Does Sin have any moves that would work really well oki though? I can't quite tell myself.
  3. Random noob-level question. Are charge characters way more prone to negative penalties because they have to often hold back to use charge moves?
  4. Sorry, that's right. The link is stringing two gattles together. Ah, on block it makes more sense that it would be possible. Unfortunately I know zero about what is safe to backdash out of in any version of GG... If the cS was instant blocked though I would imagine you could backdash the fS just from my mental image of it, not sure with a regular block.
  5. Seems like if you want to play "lame" (somebody started a thread about that on this board if I remember right) Sin makes a pretty solid choice, no? I'm sure it's partially match-up dependent but it seems like he can use his insane range to keep poking his opponent from a safe distance. And wanting to eat would keep you from rushing in after the opponent after combos, thus accentuating the "lameness".
  6. If that is his question, I think cS fS is a link (though a pretty easy one) and you can do it twice even with it being a true combo.
  7. I'm rather ignorant on the subject but if the PS3 has frame drops while the PS4 does not, would that make for online compatibility to be a nightmarish desynching mess - or nothing of the sort?
  8. Amazon is supposed to have an option for release-date shipment, so you get the game on release date as far as I know.
  9. If companies can't goddamn use GGPO no way in hell will they use stick drivers.
  10. So you can combo into IKs outside of hellfire, you just need to take the risk of activating IK state and scoring the hit confirm on your opponent afterward? Because in Xrd there wasn't a way to combo into IK. This seems like it makes it fairly easy to troll players much worse than you, haha.
  11. Do you need match point to IK combo? I was under the assumption you don't since the other conditions are super restrictive and it seems like most of the time you could do any other BnB and end the round with it. What's the deal again with activating IK state outside of hellfire? Is the IK animation different for the connecting move or is it just a lot slower?
  12. I'm still wondering how many people new to GG who don't follow any of the pre-release stuff end up thinking Bedman is female for a while.
  13. Yes, but I've never seen Sin or Bedman talked about in direct reference to BB yet (or what sort of husbandos/paramours/etc they are - though yes the vocal oglers are predominantly male). And reading YT comments on any topic will almost assuredly make me sad of course. Just so happens that I ended up reading some from GG videos and got rather bummed. And hey, I played Skullgirls for a while because I liked the mechanics a lot at the time (can't play it anymore though). I understand playing the game for the gameplay's sake. The feeling of bummness still exists here and there though. (And sure as fuck provided more cognitive dissonance than I could ever want with Skullgirls.) (But I actually really really like GG's visuals and style on top of the gameplay though to begin with.)
  14. When the game is out? By the way, how is it going with the feeling of superiority to GameFAQs you have there while deriding them? wink wink nudge nudge (Also last I saw of GameFAQs they were having a circlejerk over how I-no's butt isn't big enough.)
  15. So I recently ended up browsing through some youtube comments (always a bad idea) and now I'm the one feeling super butthurt, because there are tons of BB fans who are talking about El and Ram in terms of waifus (non-ironically) and all that cringe-inducing crap, and it just makes me feel more that El and Ram were designed for the primary reason of drawing some of the BB fans to buy GG. Because if not, damn are they well recieved by that demographic and that's pretty much all they talk about in reference to BB (there was some stuff about Noel and jD upskirts that I did not care to understand).
  16. El's design aside (as many people get butthurt over that topic), to somebody who isn't familiar with GG and is thinking of buying an animu fighter at random or just happens to be browsing the games at the store, the censored version is less embarrassing and less Japan-stereotype inducing. Whether it was done just for that or whether there's actual guidelines as to what can be on the cover I have no idea. And holy crap they are reaaaally shoving the BlazBlue down those Ram posters. If I could pick one I'd go for the Sin/Ky one, composition by itself I find by far the best on that one.
  17. How strict is it compared to his +R FRCs?
  18. So I realized I never actually asked this: how is the execution barrier for YRCs? Is it super duper easy? Is it dependent on the move you're doing? Are there some things where YRCing is comparable to FRCing in terms of timing difficulty? Or just other general thoughts on it now that a lot of you have the demo?
  19. Here? One troll who is continuously re-banned does not "so much crying" make. If elsewhere, you might want to give context.
  20. I'm confused... because I think you're confused? The combo didn't have an RC. And IKs don't use tension. Activation of IK mode just drains meter, and then drain your life if you have none. You just need 100% tension because IK activation will only cause time freeze if you have 50% tension when activating in hellfire mode.
  21. Why exactly? And no, a couple of frames is very demanding for anyone who can't put 10 hours a week toward video games. Demanding things existing in many fighting games doesn't suddenly make them not demanding, it just makes it common trait of fighting games to be demanding. Why do you think FGs have such bad rep to beginners who shy away from them due to the entry barrier? Then add on the fact that there's a substantial amount of people who mainly play others through online, and even if +R had amazing online FRCs are still strict enough where a minuscule amount of lag would screw up a lot of people. (And wasting hours in training mode to try and get an FRC point down to high efficiency is about the most boring training mode thing I've ever tried to do.)
  22. OP states "Undertow - can be charged, unblockable, still has armor".
  23. Honestly, most of the combos I've seen so far across all the characters (cumulatively, one by one I can agree I-no's combo string may be easier to execute) look very comparable to +R in terms of tech skill necessary to perform. And then apparently somebody is saying even FAB is complaining about dem loops. When people say I-no is easier to play are they talking about the entire experience? Heavily factoring in the neutral game? Or are they talking about how hard it is to do an optimal combo? Because on my personal pie graph, I allocate a fairly small slice of a game's complexity to the difficulty of executing optimal combos (at least for games like GG, in Marvel it's like 50%).
  24. I disagree. You do not judge how simple a game is by how easy it is to pick up and play. You judge how simple a game is by its complexity and depth at the higher levels of play. SSB Melee is extremely easy to pick up and play for pretty much anyone who has ever played a video game. The competitive high-level play of Melee is about as far from simple as you could ever get. What you are talking about is called accessibility. Simplicity and accessibility are not the same. Accessibility is pretty much always good. There should never be a reason to purposefully turn down making something more accessible, all other things being equal of course (that part is crucially important, as a lot of times there's no way for all things to be equal while going for more accessibility - hence why FRCs had to be scrapped entirely and replaced with a new cancelling system, which had the intention of retaining similar levels of complexity and depth but being easier to manage for those without the fingers of god).
