  1. Don't let Sev's salty sparkles deceive you~ The MB community is pretty lively in Japan, the only reason it's niche over here in the states is due to never being officially released over here, so you had to go out of your way to find it, not to mention most releases were for PC which bring their own set of problems, the minute MB hit arcades is when it really started to boom. And most doujin games (especially fighters) are forgotten because they're made more for fun rather than practicality. This game will do fine in Japan and will probably co-exist with, if not completely overtake, Melty Blood, Japan plays everything. As for it's life outside of that region, that depends on how they plan to release this to consumers.
  2. Event? The only thing planned that I'm aware of is on launch day, do you have any details on said event? Also it's worth noting that Examu doesn't port their own games (ever) so the terrible port of 2 was due to Eccole's (IIRC) choices, the port of 3 was handled by Arc System Works and had the benefit of a more powerful system(s). Aquaplus (the ones who own the franchises) is handling the port of this game, they (well their subsidiary---Leaf) have only released one game in the fighting genre before this but they have handled PS3 ports for several of their titles. Not to mention the game has been delayed twice (once to fix a network error) so I'm confident they'll do a good job.
  3. If the range was limited to a select few I'd be more concerned, but seeing how everyone has the range I'm interested in seeing how this develops, the poking and spacing game will probably more vital, especially with the ability to move around before a round starts. There will probably be an extra layer of mind games added to neutral because you'll be in a constant state of danger.
  4. J-Son no, don't say that D: And hey, she's literally on fire when she fights ; -;
  5. 10 meter really is nothing, you seem to get more than enough meter throughout the course of fights (IIRC I saw Linne do her Infinite Worth twice in a round) so it should be fine, you probably make that back from landing a Normal. And I'm sure the Melty community will welcome the game (one way or another); at worst it'll be like BB, at best SF3. And if it were given the chance for domestic release I'm sure it would have a nice cult following (which if it gets a console/PC port I expect from importers anyways)
  6. Don't get cheeky with me mister~ = 3= Thinking on it, I'm actually interested in what a Crush Trigger does to an airborne opponent... I'm pretty sure it's safe to say you can Barrier either way since it's meant to be a general guard break (and the only way to do so) though overhead > guard crush sounds like a nice gimmick regardless if they block the overhead or not you'll break their guard if they don't barrier :o
  7. Arawn is a great character because he does good damage, has a nice DP, command grab, and dozens of attacks that affect the opponent's meter, oh and add on top his special ability enhances the power of his Partner. Mizuki or Ulthury are great choices because they make his DP much safer, Camyu is a nice choice too for extended combos, Satsuki is great for lock down and allowing Arawn to advance safely, and of course Ma-Ryan goes with everyone~
  8. It shouldn't, it's safe to assume they can hit everyone regardless if they're crouching or standing (otherwise what's the point?) and yeah they can be Barriered, but the fact of the matter is you are going to be touched, the only thing that's of great importance is comboability (of which we are seeing a few) and recovery/disadvantage.
  9. Well I'm saying it doesn't matter if they're "overheads" as they're supposed to cause guard break, so the hit level is irrelevant.
  10. Crush Triggers aren't overheads (it would defeat their purpose if they were lol) and they can be barrier blocked (wonder if they force a set depletion of Barrier...)
  11. Be careful what you wish for, a character like Karula doesn't care too much for the sky and has a ground dodge with a follow up that can be comboed, not to mention she has long range. Sasara is in a similar boat but she has rush move with guard points. And nah if you want to control a match the go-to Partner is Ma-Ryan, lol, fireworks! FIREWORKS EVERYWHERE!!! Also Yu is another dangerous Partner, she's a walking DP, and her other move is great for lockdown and causes amnesia on the opponent! Yuki is okish because she allows you to do otherwise impossible combos and does fill the screen with slow falling projectiles, but the downside is massive cooldown sequence :<
  12. The "gun chick" is Satsuki, and there's a reason I placed her high up on my list, as I mentioned earlier projectiles are universally high and BOTH of Satsuki's attacks are projectiles, the single shot is just good for poking but the 3x burst is good for locking down/hit confirming/spacing, overall Satsuki works well for any character (she's just not as godly as Ma-Ryan, lol). The other girl you are referring to is Mizuki, drop kick actually isn't all that great, you'll be using her upper alot more but you have to be careful with your timing, especially since she launchers higher on counter hit (IIRC) but you'll probably use it as a combo start more times than an extender (since it's a safer way in than you yourself poking and it can be great as a Passive Assist Call --where you spend meter to call your Partner during your block stun)
  13. All the Partners are good for something, and it's probably good to have a small pool to help with weaknesses in matchups, but the Assist tier IMO is: S: Ma-Ryan A: Yu, Satsuki B: Mizuki, Octavia, Camyu, Ulthury C: Rathy, Yuma, Yuki, Rina Of course that's for general purpose and depending on the character that could shift drastically, and can't list Llyr and Serika yet due to them being newer and I haven't seen much footage on them, but they have their own interesting tools. Ma-Ryan works with everyone (and I mean EVERYONE), can't give any suggestions to Oboro cause again too new, but Tamaki does super well with Ulthury because her lightning attack locks down opponent, you pretty much are given 2 options - guard or get grabbed. Camyu is also nice for her due to the fireball attacks being great for combo extension and the dark orb pretty much preventing people from jumping (not to mention you can throw them into it, lol). Konomi can benefit from Satsuki because she forces situations on opponents as well (projectiles are universally High in this game, so they can be ducked, but unless you have a slide you are now stuck in place, so this works well for Konomi as now you have to guess her mixup). Serika might be good because she has the bind assist, but again haven't seen her too much but she's definitely one of the Partners I wanted to try first because I love that and her mirror move assist.
  14. You learn alot more from losing than you do winning, go play casual matches, do stuff you know might not be the smartest thing, keep an eye on what people are punishing from you, use all this to make a smarter gameplan and rise to triumph!
  15. This game...lol
  16. Nothing wrong with universal overheads
  17. The range game will be interesting, but everyone seems competent at all ranges even if they lack the long normals (like Linne and Seth) cause they make up for it with great spacing tools, so it shouldn't be too bad. It will just be interesting overall to fight. Also yeah Linne's projectiles aren't NEARLY as godly as Seth's but they have very similar gameplans and it just seems like Seth is more technical while Linne is more beginner friendly, Linne projectile seems to be good for lockdown and can probably be used as a decent meaty on it's own.
  18. Texas over here, and I want to be the American AP God~ (just kidding, but I do like everyone so I'll actually attempt to be decent with everyone, my primary main will probably either Touka or Sasara) Also even if there is DLC for this game, you don't have to use your JPN account to play, since anything purchased on a PS3 can be charged among the accounts on the same system \o/
  19. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm sure they'll keep the option to change Astral music, everyone one wins! NEXT!
  20. Eh wasn't feeling her, she looked really boring for me, but I'm not into pure zoners, and it was sad seeing her just effectively lock out Orie.
  21. I think all of the OP songs have been great (the videos are a different subject...) but for me... Kotoko (CT) > Feylan > Kotoko (CS) > Imai
  22. What's there to theorize? This is all competent play, so things are being shown off right rather than be glimpsed at, it would be much sweeter if we could actually play it and test out other things, and honestly I'm STILL confused about how Yuzu works exactly. Also I've been commenting on things about (the ones I found interesting) characters as I completed their vids; - Gordeau does INSANE damage for little effort (his "Grim Reaper" attack where he spins the scythe also seems to be relatively safe D:) - Seth's projectile and teleports are going to make for some interesting mixup/oki games ("DO I FRIGHTEN YOU!?") - Linne is a poor man's Seth in nearly every way - Yuzu has some awesome combos but still not 100% sure how her charged ABC system works, but it looks sweet (even her aerial attacks look good :D) - Markava looks absolutely vicious and is the most mobile character (having a back run and great aerial mobility with his "flight", also his hitbox doesn't look nearly as big as it appears, also he seems to be able to block relatively easy, not sure if he has to legit cancel flight to do it or not, also wonder what his maximum flight time and height is, height doesn't look "too" great as he doesn't really leave the screen and it keeps good track of both characters) - Carmine looks pretty cool but really risky as he literally bleeds to attack his opponent, not all of the moves take life but without a way to recover he's gonna be a high risk/reward character - Hyde actually looks like alot of fun for being the "main character", like his DP follow ups and his projectile is really nice! - Orie is alot more boring than I thought she'd be...maybe Mitsu spoiled fencing for me lol (also she does REALLY bad against real zoners it looks like, she nearly got double perfected against Varista) - I notice that there is "base" damage an then a GRD bonus, does this really alter depending on the GRD lvl? - speaking of how do you take over/regain GRD? - Veil Off bonuses?
  23. They can't charge you before shipping~ If it ever looks grim just cancel :o Hopefully you can get your hands on it, I need more people to play~
  24. Loli are just as bad too, what's wrong with wanting a perfectly average woman :<
  25. I hate Bullet's design, but I find if you laugh about it, it makes the pain lessen (:<) Good thing her gameplay looks great, my BB syndrome might finally be quelled.
