  1. if you show your serious face enough, people may actually be inclined to play again and teach unfortunately the effort must be mutual and you must be first to initiate and of course do your homework lol picking top tier has had mixed results ernest consistently places top 4 with his h-tohno a couple people played h-v.sion for a bit (the one you meant to mention) but had a hard time since i'm bored at school i'll list some difficulties of playing melty blood your defensive options in this game are usually ass the hitstop on moves is very short so you may need the reflexes of a cat to hitconfirm aerial footsies are a unique and foreign concept: -unlike guilty gear, you keep all your air options -there is a super double jump -there is no faultless defense @Shining Aquas: "soon to be 3" keywords: soon to be 1.07 aka princess patch is scheduled for october 1.05 is the current version with powered ciel current code came before 1.05 and after ps2 console version has not been officially announced but they are planning for a ps3 release
  2. There hasn't. Well just because there isn't a tournament for those games doesn't mean we can't play casuals for them on the side.
  3. you are about two years too late. just play guilty gear or something else imo. YAT and i consistently place 1st and 2nd and we have mostly been playing GG post-evo2k10. i am no longer interested in playing melty blood, much less trying to teach new players unless they really care to learn. especially since we are currently 2 revisions behind the current version, soon to be 3. however, there is a new crew of melty blood players trying to learn the game right now. they are scheduled for next thurs and sun (aug 11 and 14) at gamecenter and southtown, respectively. i wonder who will become training dummies for who...
  4. i would like to thank jared and myung for setting up that gg gathering the other day i hope to play gg again soon
  5. Alright I've only gotten one response on here and so far Honnou, tenkai, and Tsubasa are interested in going. I'm going to wait a little longer to see if there's anymore interest but it seems like no one else wants to come up to Southtown to play? Is it too far? Do GG players no longer exist here? Maybe this will just become a Vampire Savior and Melty Blood gathering...
  6. Crossposted from the NCI thread because they are drowning out my post over there and I've only gotten one response...
  7. Well last year we did have people travelling from out-of-state. If we are going to be concerned about space though, I don't think we should have it at Eudemonia again...
  8. Uhhh are you honestly expecting 100 people to come? At most we get 40 really. Another concern I brought up in my proposal is exposure. Although space will definitely be an issue at Southtown, the point is that it's an arcade and the potential exposure could be good for our community. This alone should be a reason to seriously consider Gamecenter. Also the parking and food situation seems pretty legit.
  9. Since Super NCI is set for Aug 27, which is kind of far away, I think it'd be cool to have a gathering or two at Southtown to sharpen up and it may also possibly generate interest and raise our #s for Super NCI. We've never been to Southtown and it's primarily a fighting game arcade so I think it could be some really good exposure for us if we headed up there. How many of you guys would be interested in that? If there's enough interest, we could run a mini NCI there. I'd like to generate more hype for GG/VSAV and they have the arcade boards for both games so let's show them some love. For the pad warriors, we could have a console setup for GG. For the BB players, they also have a BBCS2 cabinet as well. EDIT: I forgot to put this back in when I was finalizing my post but there will be Melty Blood as well if there is enough interest.
  10. best 2 out of 3 matches, double elim config your buttons anyway you want, roman cancel macros are OK iirc pad players are in the minority but really don't use someone's controller to gauge their skill level there will be players your league, we have players at almost every skill level really if there are less than 8 players you guys should round robin
  11. Since this NCI is scheduled to collide with AX, we will not be running a Melty Blood tournament and Guilty Gear will have less entrants than usual if it is going to be run at all. I must also mention that since Tsubasa is going to AX, the equipment he usually provides (which is a lot) will be unavailable. If magz also goes to AX (uncertain at this point), his equipment will also be unavailable.
  12. wat. oh. wow they released psp2:i only 5 months after psp2 edit: nvm that was US release. its really 14 months lol
  13. @SJSU? The Southtown guy approached me about having an NCI over there but I haven't had time to fully consider it yet
  14. yeah its cool im just super cranky when i get up anyways i read your introductory post on meltybread last night but it seems that you are always bumfucknowhere, cali the only competent riverside guy just moved back to the bay area :| maybe you should hit up the norcal/socal threads or come on #mbaa@mizuumi
  15. 1. not actually confirming anything 2. translation: q: will you release MBAACC for the 360/ps3? a: it's being considered 3. this tweet is 3 days old guys. sorry to be a snob but you guys are all getting your hopes up over nothing. its not like they dont want to make a port so chill.
  16. @Shining Aquas: Any F-Len footage you will see will probably be Current Code where F-Len received some significant buffs. Anyways, here is a combo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6jXuVDDSEY @Reiki: For relevant regional threads there is the NorCal thread on Dustloop (who cares if you are going to talk about Melty Blood, feel free to talk about whatever you want as long as you are NorCal, Melty Blood is relevant to NCI anyways) and I guess there is also the "NorPor" thread on MeltyBread which is basically the South Bay thread
  17. there are system changes... imo the biggest changes are that the size of the stage was significantly reduced, anti-a armor was taken out, and all ch became ch2... anti-a armor was actually really dumb for air-to-air battles and made most jump As less useful and gave it a more specific situational purposes instead the size of the screen really helped out the slower characters and some zoning characters ie f-kouma, c-akiha... many characters who were strong have been effectively nerfed ie kohaku, h-v.sion, h-tohno, c-mech, etc... in cc some of the cast became significantly stronger and/or easier to play due to changes ie f-kouma c-satsuki c-aoko h-nanaya f-hisui c-v.akiha there are even characters that became stronger than was necessary imo and that is because japan didnt play the ps2 ver ie f-ries, possibly f-ciel i think cc overall is a better version and the changes made were significant more of the cast became playable increasing the character diversity the absurdly huge screen was toned down
  18. i don't think the versions are that similar but that's another discussion
  19. i don't even think there's more than five people who can play the game at a respectable level in norcal (as respectable as it gets here anyways) many of the players from mbac have also moved on and are probably never going to come back anyways you should probably just post in the norcal threads instead
  20. yeah. we just had our monthly event 'norcal install' (see the events section) at sjsu (san jose state university)
  21. obviously he should drive out to where the parties are at then we're having a party tomorrow at sjsu
  22. i had to look up this modesto place on a map hella far
