IIRC probably stands for "if I recall correctly" ) As for "clean hit", IIRC, it is totally attack-depended. For Sol's Sidewinder, f.e., Clean Hit is scored when attacks hits lower part of opponent's body.

ElvenShadow Thinking of it now, I'm not quite sure I haven't mistaken Kuni for Koto. Both are surely solid, but I think the Baiken I saw in a-cho finals was Koto, not Kuni. You can probably check this out yourself on a-cho website, I tend to mess up even the simplest kana, as you can see. Sorry to misinform you, in case I actually did (

Double semi-finals are nothing to be ashamed of, but I'm sure with a good team you'll be able to get it to the finals and qualify, so don't give it up. Kuni is a quite strong Baiken from Kansai. Suffice to say he's been in finals of A-cho tournaments a few times, which means he's on par with players of N-otoko and RF level.

I _always_ wondered why in the hell Japanese teams change every freaking year. Now I understand this a little better thanks to your blog \\ From your posts, your 'teammates' look quite uncool (( Maybe there is some kind of Japanese forums\boards where they settle about teams? So you'll be able to talk this out BEFORE the event. Other then that, I guess you'll have to qualify with 'leftovers' team, which means lower competition in Niigata will be handy. So if qualifying is important for you, I guess 'wasting' 1 weekend (or one day?) in Niigata is fine. IMHO. Anyway, another thanks for your blogging, that is very interesting reading.
