thanks for everyone who showed up yesterday, it was a blast! first of all, someone left their cellphone at my place! Please let me know ASAP because I'm going back to japan Sunday morning. I'll leave it with someone when I leave. It's a sony ericson with a haruhi strap and a redjuice vocaloid keychain. I won't be able to host anymore events till the next time I'm in the states, and I don't know when that is. Maybe golden week. Until then, I'll probably start organizing some official 8p shufle / freeteam rooms on a scheduled basis for fun, since japan to westcoast seems to be universally yellowbar, which is pretty damn playable. here are the results from yesterday: 1. Undefeated Of The Moon (Master Gundam, Gunner Zaku) (Tenkai/Nathan) 2. efz is a good game (Crossbone X1, Sinanju/Unicorn) (Lark/Roy) 3. iduncare (Tallgeese III, Heavyarms/Strike) (qwerty/laughing_raven) 4. idunno (Wing-Zero, RX-78) (Ginseng/YAT) 7. Operation Meteor (Tallgeese III, Heavyarms) (magz/dakanya) 7. story of fruit tea (Blue Frame, Cherudim) (tsubasa/Tari) 7. UBW (Strike Freedom, Random) (Brett/CPU)

I forgot, the ranbat 1st will get a gundam deathscythe endless waltz model kit! team has to knife fight to see who gets to keep it! get hype lol!

this is an IRL only event. we're using online lobbies since there is no LAN, but we want to keep the shuffle room closed, with either 4p or 8p depending on how many setups we actually get. including online randoms will lead to room player imbalance. also, this event is primarily a big learning session. we're going to be streaming these matches, commentating, reviewing replays, and trying to help point out areas to improve in, so having online participants would be a bit weird. anyone else who is interested, again just send me a PM. we ran some 4p gundam on stream today, and it went really well. zero problems for like 8 hours straight of casuals, and only 2-3 random temp d/c's for a few hours after that.

is mentioning haunts interest in streaming it supposed to mean something or is it just an afterthought? I'm unsure of how to interpret this. I'm not dying to stream or anything, i'm just offering to _if people want me to_ since i'm streaming like nonstop once i get stateside anyways, and have all my equipment, and am going to show up. yes? no?
-
so is no one streaming this event? I'm lugging all my stream equipment from japan and streaming like half the days im in america, so if people want me to stream it on the 28th, I'd be down.

Hey guys: Two awesome things in the spirit of Christmas: First of all, I'm currently in the middle of translating the japanese exvs wiki's Beginner's Guide, and I've finished enough that I can post it publicly, so check it out: https://sites.google.com/site/unlimitedbrettworks it hasn't been proofread and some sections are constantly getting added, so have patience. if you're anywhere between a beginner or intermediate, you should definitely check it out and internalize all the information there (there's a lot). Remember, I just translated, i take no credit for actual content. Secondly, I'm visiting america for Christmas week! I'm going to be hosting a norcal gathering for Gundam Extreme VS at my place on December 29th. It'll be an all day event dedicated to gundam casuals! We'll probably run a small ranbat just for the lulz (random team or giant like 8v8) so yeah. new players totally welcome too, so if you're interested in learning and want to actually have humans to play with as part of the introductory process, fucking come! It's going to be at my place in Burlingame. PM me for the address if you want to come!
-
how....out of the blue... I guess i can attend the 28th one when i visit the states lol.

hosting an overseas beginners room (tho jp area players are welcome too!) later today ~5pm PST. stop by my stream if you an invite! (twitch.tv/thebrett)

@xlolx side melee, boost dash, bd melee, rainbowstep bazooka does pretty good damage. and u were saying bd melee had good cut resistance, so maybe that will help. (6bb>> bd8bb > bz = 230 dmg)
-
@xlolxlolx: extreme super does 306 if you were curious. The majority of jp players consider him high A tier atm. Either Top of A tier or right under Turn-X, which is actually very close to Master (bottom S, occasionally Top A). his side melee is actually quite good. its quite an improvement from normal nu. it's has really fast startup and handles pretty well even against other 3ks. the only real complaint you can have about it is damage, but who uses side melee for damage lol. if anything, complain about destiny/strikefree/fullcloth :p. though master can be pretty damn annoying in lag.

zero.

just too much of a habit to break lmao.

im kind of sad because i don't think that is the ranked match patch lol. its silly that they're giving us a few new suits before they enable ranked matching >_>. well maybe it will include the patch... here's to hoping.

I thought I'd mention this now because I realized very few people realize this: It's common courtesy to press the Communication button (通信・指令) to give the yorosiku message to your partner. Particularly in shuffle play. It's pretty much the equivalent of typing glhf or something. Its just generally good mannered and the main way of being able to tell if I'm partnered with a total scrub even before the game begins is if he knows how to greet me. The arcade scene is pretty much built upon shuffle mode play, aka often playing with strangers, so there is actually a pretty elaborate culture around partner communication (it IS a 2v2 game afterall). enough so that i subconciously do it even when i dont even have a human partner lol.

sounds good. check my stream schedule at twitch.tv/thebrett. I'm on pretty often (PSN=jpFuzuri). Either PM me or highlight me on IRC, or stop by the stream chat and we can do some tests. I tested a bit with AcidAce and it was surprisingly decent for jp <-> wc (around delay 4 maybe?).
-
the general consensus is not to use shield if you can help it. its not a very good defensive option since it consumes boost, has startup, is basically minus on melee block, and baitable. it's only really useful when buying time for your ally to cut. there's some input buffering on it during landing recovery so if you're worried your boostdash or sidestep wont come out against an incoming projectile, maybe use shield. but yeah if you're still learning (by definition everyone in this thread), dont use shield. @AcidAce: I posted my psn right after furix did.... its jpFuzuri. I live in japan so time zones are different but i'll be streaming in a few hours from now, for a good 14 hours probably. I might not be streaming exvs but if you hop on stream chat i can switch games.

:/ been streaming this for like the last 12 hours...seriously no one wants to test the lag vs jp? I'm kind of disappointed.
-
just so you guys know, ranked wont be implemented till the end of this month I think. i'll be online super late tonight / tomorrow if anyone wants to test vs japan etc
-
you know i've been playing nonstop for the last 2 days pretty much. just send me a message or invite
-
if any importers get the game, i wouldn't mind helping test japan to america connection etc. i'm pretty curious too. Also Raphael is fucking godlike holy shit.
-
@acidace YO IM HERE IN A ROOM, WHERE U AT?
-
streaming now! twitch.tv/thebrett
-
rx888 is also streaming: http://ja.justin.tv/rx_888 I agree with furix about posting PSNs, etc so I can voicechat with some english speakers heh. someone make a new thread and have it crosslinked here or something. unless mizuumi wants to make a nice wiki for it or something. inb4 i am mod of dead game again orz. my psn will most likely be jpFuzuri

someone seems to be streaming a day and a half early: http://www.twitch.tv/myui1080
