  1. Three more days until I start destroying people in Marvel and SC5...
  2. Ridiculous damage for not blocking her low, fastest AA in the game, midscreen combos that rival Astaroth damage. What's not to like about her?
  3. Don't play it then. Or, play Pyrrha or Leixia and you'll win 80% of the time automatically.
  4. Also, to the rest of you, Alabama is hosting a tournament this upcoming Saturday. It's only a two hour drive, and they have tons of players for all games. If we miraculously decide to take a car full of us, I'll pay for the gas expense. The catch though is that the driver has to drive me home, but I can meet up at GG that morning.
  5. SRK takes 50 times longer to load and has way too many ads. This site is far better than both SRK and 8WR.
  6. If you guys would actually attend Jason's tournaments, you would have plenty of people to play in ALL of those games. I'm pretty much the only MvC3 player though, so you're better off learning SC5 and KoF.
  7. Waldstein alone makes me want to play that game.
  8. GGs. SC5 is big on defense (considering damage output is so high), so matchup experience is key.
  9. ASTAROTH BACKSTORY GOGOGO! I've always been into strategy and fighting games. My very first taste of offline competition came from a Pokemon Red/Blue tournament in Hickory Hollow Mall. A friend and I went (only being 12 or so at the time), got our Mews, and competed. There was one moment that sticks out. I had a really long, intense match with someone twice my age and size, and everyone crowded around. He had used Dig on my Jolteon, and everyone was yelling, "SWITCH OUT!" I knew it wouldn't kill him though, so he took the damage, leaving him at 2 or 3 HP. Used Thunderbolt and won the match. Fast-forward a long time from then, when I played Soul Calibur 4. I stuck with that game and took it somewhat seriously. I watched tournament vids and posted to 8WayRun religiously. One day, I somehow read about a tournament in Game Galaxy and decided to go. Got scraped 0-2, because I didn't realize it was PS3-only. About a year later, a friend drove me there again for another SC4 tournament (my first KiT). This time, I was ready. I fought Milln in one of my matches, but we didn't really talk much. I fought my way through most of the winner's bracket before losing to a good Kilik. Went all the way to grand finals, being pit against Lil Majin. Astaroth mirrors suck, so I went to my secondary Nightmare. I reset the bracket, but lost 3-1 in the new set. Got second, but it paid over $100 because the tournament was so big. I was also introduced to Blazblue at this time. Someone was using Tager on the arcade machine, and I watched in awe. My eyes got big and bubbly like you see in your every-day anime stuff, and I was drooling like Homer Simpson. Once I got home, I instantly researched the game and squeeled that it was getting a console port. This is where things get fuzzy. I can't remember if I attended my second KiT or Milln/KO's tournament in Hickory Hollow next. This might be correct, but don't hold me to it. Next, I was bored one day and literally Googled "Tennessee tournaments." An SSBM/B forum popped up first, and it detailed a tourney with Smash and Blazblue. I was in there! So, I went to Hickory Hollow for a third time and played some BB competitively, for the first time. This is when I met Tad. We had REALLY close matches in losers finals, and I barely won. Phil (whom I had also just met) was in grand finals with me, and I squeaked the wins against his Taokaka. Shortly after, another KiT rolls around. Like Billy said, I met him and his friend Raven there. We all had our foreveralone Blazblue corner for a while and had what felt like hundreds of matches. Tournament time rolls around, and Lil Majin is my second match. Again, I despise grappler mirrors, so after we went 1-1, I counterpicked with V-13. Sure, I felt bad, but I wanted fight money. I lost to a Bang player (not Naimat), and placed 4th after losing to another V-13. I could've easily beat that V-13 player if I had held atomic collider for just a split-second more. Profound sadness. I can't really remember the first time I met Star, Chandler, and Naimat. I wanna say at the 2nd Milln tournament, but my memory is bad. I know Papstr and Pickle were at the first Milln tourney I attended though.
  10. Hahaha! Best. Backstory. Ever. Actually, just the way he described it was great. "Wow, Boomcube is cool, it's two random words!" killed me.
  11. I liked that backstory too. MTN more backstories. I got to hear how Milln and KO met on the ride home last time. That was entertaining.
  12. I'll tell you all what the problem is. It's not broke students. It's not one game being better than the other game. It's simply the market becoming too overpopulated with fighting games. Think about it. SF4, MK9, BB, KoF, UMvC3, SC5, 3S:OE, Tekken, Virtua Fighter (lolwut) Skullgirls (soon), SFxT (soon), TxSF (in the future), and numerous loli fighters that I can't think of are being played worldwide. People are picking up one game after the next, without fully diving into them. On the other hand, those few who stick with particular games get bored and frustrated due to playing the same few players. Until the fg market dies down a bit and stops pushing out tons of games, you'll continue to see dense or separated scenes. I mean, look at mid TN. We have TWO scenes that have just now began to cross over (although, we have a looooong way to go).
  13. Español examen mañana, amigos. ¡Consiga emocionado!
  14. Nothing's wrong with Algol. CaC's won't be used in tournaments. Random stages (loser can choose to switch stages iirc). No Devil Jin style characters. Also, I wasn't trying to be a dick and swoop in on Milln's turf. I was just stating what I know from SC4 and today's SC5 tournament. Milln can make the rules whatever he wants.
  15. Shoutouts to Tad for showing up today at GG. Good seeing you and chatting with you, man. For those not there, I lost my very first Marvel matches, went all the way through losers brackets to GF against the dude that beat me, and then proceeded to go 6-0 against him. LOL Marvel. SC5 had a whopping 5 entrants, so we did Round Robin. I won that 3-0 across the board. Games paying for themselves? Yes plz.
  16. I need a secondary just to fight Pyrrha. This is not a joke.
  17. This. Professors are usually reasonable if you sit down and talk with them. I mean, don't go in there saying, "I've got a fighting game tournament that day." Just say your family booked a surprise vacation or something. Better yet, simply saying you'll be out of town should suffice. It might also be best to talk with her during in-office hours (instead of directly after class). They aren't packing up or in a big hurry then.
  18. A speech on smelling your own farts would be the best.
  19. Naimat and Star for S-tier now. Marvel/KoF/SC5 tournament this Saturday at GG.
  20. Heh, I wasn't trying to ignore you last night. I was in a full party/room.
  21. If a lot of you pick up SC5, I will personally give you one-on-one training at the next MTN, free of charge. The mind games in SC5 go so deep, your butt will pucker.
  22. Braindead ass-scrubbing faggot? That's combining all three. LOL @Naimat - Mitsu has always been one of the go-to characters for new people. He was rage-inducing online in 4, because it was either 1A, 2K, 3B, or grab and none of it could be blocked on reaction. I really don't care who people use as long as they play it and have fun.
  23. "Gimme dat crotch" was definitely the highlight of last night. That had me rolling.
  24. If you use Mitsu, I'll forever brand you as a brain-dead scrub. Not even joking.
