Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN
Astaroth136 replied to Milln's topic in Locals
The south really likes SC. My first tournament was at GG, and it was supposed to just be a small gathering that ended up having 30+ people. As for our Blazblue group, I don't expect many to pick it up or stay with it. Maxi has already been confirmed iirc. Yun Seong will more than likely be in, considering they said they wanted a ton of characters in SC5. Someone needs to explain what those fist-glowing changes do. Looks fun. Vergil is just Dante, except his super isn't guns, it's swords. -

Oh, I'm prepared to make people relive the pain of their worst memories. I'm prepared to make people want to shove foreign objects into their anus from sheer rage. I'm prepared to piss off the world and suckle it's crying teets. The question is... Are you all prepared? -

While I'm glad Star is staying, I'm even more elated at ASTAROTH BEING REVEALED FOR SC5! CAN. NOT. WAIT. -

At this point, everyone is a hipster now or a pre-hipster. The word has lost all meaning and definition, and it's so overused, well... let's say I knew about hipsters before they were mainstream. -

Using top tiers makes you a hipster. "I used them before they were cool/top tier/etc." You're in the pre-hipster stage if you're using low tiers. Mid tier is where it's at. -

Hugo is one of the most fun grapplers I've ever used in a game. Even though 3S is really unbalanced, it's still a great fighter. Everyone needs to give it a try. -
I haven't posted in forever and can blame 3S:OE for that. Anyway, Hugo has a throw that instantly carries the opponent to the corner (not just the edge of the current position), which I thought was a smart move for a grappler. I guess Tager's combos that end in 2D do something similar, but it's not as effective. By the looks of it though, Tager is getting a huge overhaul in Extend. Let's hope it's all for the better.

WOOOOOO! That flyer is hot! I especially like the Tager silhouette. And the joystick 360-motion for the "G" is awesome. -

Shoutouts to Doro from yesterday's Marvel/3S tournament at GG. You were so salty afterwards. I meant to ask you, did you lose to one of those random dudes running Haggar assist? I almost lost to AsianMike and that big dude that spammed Haggar. You should've run Phoenix. Trolololol -

Naimat, you're going to have to learn to let your balls drop a little and grow up. It's okay to be salty towards a game, it's designs, it's flaws, etc., but you cross the line when you decide to be a dick to the other player. You were a complete dick to me last night, and if it weren't for people trying to study right behind me, I would've snapped. You're gonna mouth off to someone one day and get your teeth kicked in. Did you think I couldn't hear you constantly muttering to another person "Yeah, because his characters are the easiest to use," "...using the three most boring characters," etc.? Did you forget that you use Akuma, the easiest anchor to use in the game? Wesker isn't hard execution-wise either. Magneto is only hard the first few hours you practice his ROMs. In fact, Marvel is an easy game, and Ultimate is supposed to be even easier. If you want execution-based games, you need 3S or GG. And don't ever tell me to "shut the fuck up." If I told you to "shut the fuck up" every time you bitched and whined, my voice would be hoarse. -

Mmmmm, check out those Marvel vids. Good work, Chandler. The last few aren't up yet, but these are tying me over. I didn't watch many of these at the tournament because I was either playing/watching bomberman, or I was calling matches when Milln was playing. -

That's what makes it team high tier. Do Deadpool and Joe even complement each other? -

SuperMario used team low-tier. Chris Brown used Doom. Naimat used Joe and team high-tier. I use Hulk. Tad used Thor. -

SF fiends usually work and come by the arcade later, from what I've noticed. Boomcube, Chris Brown, Phil, Jacob Ford, etc. ALL come to the arcade later in the day. I think we'd get at least three or four more people on average if 3S was pushed later. -

On the subject of parries: Chandler, the game has built-in mechanics to stop "parry spam." After you input forward or down, you can parry for three frames. After those frames, there's about a 15 frame point that you CAN'T parry attempt. The devs knew parry spam could be a problem, so they designed it accordingly. On the subject of vids: Now where's Marvel? -

I got my first ragequit last night in 3S in ranked. I cornered this guy's Ken and hit him with two cr.MKs, then used Hugo's "butt move" (cr.HK) and hit him overhead for the kill. I guess getting hit with an ass... *sunglasses* makes you act like an ass. YYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! -

@ Naimat: It still just looks like three high tier anchors thrown together to me. I get your points and everything though. This was like a really crappy haiku. lol -

a) Wesker's otg shot in combos builds more meter than just doing Mag's ROM combos? That doesn't seem right, since the many H's in Mag's combos are what mainly gives huge chunks of meter. b) Good point. I actually wasn't considering the dhc glitch for some reason. c) Wesker's super isn't completely safe on block. If there's not more than a half of a screen in distance after he's finished the super, he can be punished by many characters (barring they DON'T pushblock). Up close, he gets punished hard. Also on this point, Magneto can use Magnetic Tempest to dhc safely. d) Magneto is so fast, he doesn't really need to set up unblockables. You showed this in one of our matches simply by dashing up and down before finally hitting me with a low. e) Sometimes, I think it would be better to go for a reset (mainly moments where the opponent doesn't die from the THC). Gunshot, j.H + Akuma assist is godlike, because if they broke the throw, they MUST block Akuma. Then, you get to stay on the offensive again and mix up. f) As shown above, Wesker doesn't have to use meter and is a decent battery. Viscant has proven this too. g) Has Yipes even won an MvC3 tournament on the east coast? I watched him place third Sunday in a stream, but he was using a Dante team. Chris G's Ryu team took first. Anyway, while that team does have some synergy, I don't think it has enough as people first think. -

Naimat, I meant to mention this at the tournament. I don't think your team has much synergy, even though they're all top tier. Switching Mag's and Wesker's position might help.
