[P4A] Naoto Shirogane - Gameplay Discussion "Ace Detective"

^Yeah, "~" in a listed combo means that it's a follow-up to the previous move. (ie 236B~Ax5 would be Double Fangs into A Shotx5, 214214A~C would be Raid stance into Critical Shot, ect) -

Just a clarification and a correction that was brought to my attention: for the slashes after 5D, all you need is 5D~D and Sukona does all 3. -
^Nice, thanks.

The purple ones are all really nice. And seeing Liz-Rise makes me want to see a Naoto-Rise. :X

^Yeah, it's pretty nice. Thanks again to Kurushii for putting that video together. <3 Also, all of those have been added to the combo thread. Thanks. #occupyanime That loop has been shown before, I think it was in the previous SMP combo video too but I'm not sure. And in addition to that video (Youtube link for it here btw), Kamoihito also uploaded this one: -

Kansas City Drinking: We Have a Serious Fighting Game Problem

Hi again KC Dustloop thread. It's been a while. New Maxout tourney happening August 11th. Let's get some Persona hype going! -
Special thanks to Dan Maldonado of NDP! GROUND RULES : -NDP has been a fantastic venue, great service, great food and great atmosphere. Make sure you guys continue taking great care of them! Venue: Next Door Pizza Location: 3385 SW Fascination Drive, Lees Summit, MO 64081 Date: Saturday, August 11th Start Time: Doors will open for games at 12 PM Registration Will begin at 1 PM THIS IS TENTATIVE, COULD BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. STAY POSTED. Venue Fee: $5 Price per game: $10/$5 HYPE MATCHES! NEW THIS MONTH! Persona 4 Arena (PS3) $5 FEATURING Super Street Fighter IV AE2012 (PS3) $10 Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3) $10 King of Fighters XIII (PS3) $10 BlazBlue EXTEND (PS3) $5 SkullGirls (PS3) $5 Tekken 6 $5 TIME AND INTEREST PERMITTING, WE WILL DO A TEAMS TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Casuals and Registration start at 12 PM Tournaments begin no later than 1 PM TENTATIVE TIME SCHEDULE, COULD BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE RULES: All tournaments will be 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Matches, Double elimination unless listed otherwise. Top 3 in each tournament will switch to 2/3 rounds, 3/5 matches. If you wish to change controls, do so prior to the match during a button check. If you begin the match with the wrong controls, that is too bad. If you pause the match or attempt to restart because your controls were messed up, you forfeit your match. If you wish to use multi button binds for other games, it will have to be at the affirmation of your opponent. Default button binds are exempt from this rule Winner keeps same character, loser may select a new one All games will be played on random stage select T6 will be 3/5 rounds, 2/3 Matches. Blind character selection may be requested if a counter pick is a concern. In this case, one of the staff may be called upon to get the selection of both characters from the competitors. If you are called for a match, you will have 5 minutes (which is VERY lenient) to get to your station and play. If you fail to get to your station, you will forfeit the match. This is not true in the case of someone playing in another game if they are called to play. This is the only exemption. Making your opponents wait is rude, and it also holds up the progress of our bracket. Be courteous. If you are in a tournament that is on going, then stick around. If you need to go smoke, do it fast, and continue your conversations back in the tournament room. Regarding PS3 pads Do not turn your pad ON until you have synced it to a system using a USB cord. PLEASE turn OFF your pad following the end of your match. This has been an issue in the past, and this negligence isn't going to be tolerated. It's disruptive to the people who come to play after you. Failure to turn off your pad will result in an automatic disqualification which will count as a loss in your tournament record. A second offense will result in your forfeit from the tournament. Bring your OWN EQUIPMENT In many cases, I see people needing to wait around because either they left their stick/pad at home, or they lent it out to someone else. This is UNACCEPTABLE. If you are going to a tournament, then you should at LEAST have your own equipment. If I have to wait on someone because they lent out their equipment, I will be very unhappy. I'll bring extra pads, and an extra stick of my own for this at this tournament, but PLEASE bring your own equipment so we can keep things running smoothly. If you CAN, please bring SETUPS This is more of a request, but depending on what you bring, and what we use, you will be given a discount. - A setup (PS3 with Monitor) means you pay nothing. - No PS3 or Monitor/TV and you pay the full $5. If people can bring setups (PS3's, games, MONITORS) then PLEASE do. We were ridiculously short handed on equipment last time, and this makes it nearly impossible to run these tournaments smoothly. I'd like to be able to do a variety of games, and not have to kick people off casual stations, but in order to do this, we NEED to have as many setups as we can. I understand the inconvenience of unplugging and hauling Playstations and monitors, but it would help our tournament run more smoothly, and quickly, an allow everyone to play the games that they want to play. The venue is a bar and restaurant, so thankfully we have food and booze at our MAXOUT venue again! This place is awesome, so please buy lots of the delicious pizza and take care of your bar staff. See everybody there. http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/aug-11-2012-maxout-ae-umvc3-kofxiii-bbex-t6-skullgirls-and-featuring-lees-summit-mo.164737/ Get ready for some P4A hype!

@Krusiv: Thanks sir. @Diveman: 5DDDD has been used for oki in a few vids, but it's seems it may be tricky to set up safely due to it's start-up (seen Naotos try to set it up just to get smacked before 5DD came out). As for j.C, haven't seen any fuzzy guard setups w/ it, might be worth testing once the game is out. -

4.) SMP COMBOS 4A.) SMP 101 Watch this first! How SMP works is that when ASW programmed combo proration they made only the first 10 different moves (not hits) in a combo count for same move proration. Essentially, the combo theory behind making a SMP loop is to have a combo use at least 10 different moves before using 236B~DxN so 236B's untechable time remains regardless of how many uses it gets. The use of One More! Bursting or Mudoon make it possible to get the 10 moves required in before using 236B. Video displaying various SMP combos here, notations for all of them in the description. All combos that do not kill end with 236A~D to set up oki. AoA~C/AoA~D each count as 3 hits, hitting the opponent w/ all 5 shots counts as 2 hits (the first and last shots), if you already use one type of shot in a combo using a different type won't count as a different move (IE using B shots after hitting the opponent with A shots doesn't count towards the 10 moves), Mudoon and One More! Bursting count towards the 10. Screen Position is divided into 11 sections (-5 to 0 to 5). {-1 ~ -5} refers to the back half of the screen behind your character facing right. Special thanks to OmniSScythe and mynus for much of the info for this section, Cirno for the tutorial video, and BASEDSMPGOD Kamoihito for the videos on these types of combos! 4B.) Yeah, there hasn't been anything announced yet. Just to note on how 1.02 came around, it was announced some time before it was implemented, so I would guess they'd do the same if they updated it again. But only time will tell for sure.

^Any matches recorded 6/1/2012 or later will be 1.02 (so, basically anything new). Another way to tell that it's 1.02 is that as matches start they now have icons in the bottom right that looks like a black circle w/ a green leaf (or something >_>) in them. I've been specifying the version on my YT channel though I'm considering stopping since everything new is 1.02 anyways. And glad to see you hyped for Naoto, Kyle. I'm also excited to hit the lab w/ Naoto. -

New combo video by Kamoihito. Lots of SMP use. Some stylish combos into SMP. Edit: and here's another combo video, not sure who it's by. Either way, not as impressive as the previous one. -
