  1. Nothing new that I didn't already KNOW. Though Zazz, I suppose you want your perfect "family" ending. GG is one of the more Bizarre fighting games I've come to enjoy over the years, at least compared to other stories. Stuff like Street Fighter and Dark Stalkers ends up being far too ambiguous, and Mortal Kombat ended up suffering from "Evangelion Syndrome" (i.e. everyone dies). Samurai Spirits got too "in period" for my taste as well, though it's a good series too. I'm not expecting a happy ending at this point, but I'm not expecting an entirely sad one either. But I'm also thinking this: Ky's Wife's Name =/= End of Story So don't think the story's gonna end if you find out...it might just be a key plot point that makes things more interesting further down the road. Things that are important that DAISUKE wants us to think about *hinthint* -Sol's Gear Cell Containment Device Eroding -Gear Sublimation Disease (i.e. Gears disappearing/falling apart) -How the Sacred Treasures (i.e. Jinki/OutRage) can somehow manipulate time to prevent Gear Sublimation (i.e. Thunderseal). -That Man's reason for building a Cube/Barrier in one of the deeper regions of the Backyard. -Why the cube is based on Frederick/Sol's Bio-structure/algorythm. -What lies beyond the Cube that was being prevented from being accessed by Valentine. -Who Valentine's "mother" is. (No statement on whether this IS in fact Aria/Compassionless Apocalypse). That Man says that in a way Valentine IS Aria (whom he claims both he and Frederick killed) and that in the near future Sol would be dealing with multiple "Compassionless Apocalypses" which is actually a bad "joke" on That Man's part according to Sol, so we may not get the punchline till later. -Why Raven calls That Man "His Holiness", and That Man says that Raven is intended to be an "observer of the changes in history". -Why a "power equal to Justice/Justice Copy" can serve as a "Key" to the Cube, or in Sin's case, a reasonable facscimile of a facscimile (i.e. him sharing his mother's DNA). As of GG2 Overture, these are the more pressing questions, though there are plenty more with regards to Accent Core + Story Mode, these seem to take priority in the storyline.
  2. Raven in more combat in case anyone wants to see... http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5467841 He's totally like a psycho mix of Edward Scissor Hands and Rei from Hokuto no Ken.
  3. To clarify, "Storm" would be "Sutorumu" whereas "Strum" would be "Shutorumu" Move name is "シュトルムヴァイパー" Shutorumu Vaipaa.
  4. Sol's themed on a lot of reptilian things: Strum Viper (It IS Strum in reference to strumming a guitar) Volcanic Viper Sidewinder Grand Viper Fafnir Savage Fang Dragon Install Lots of bands to be grabbed from that. Viper is a Brazilian metal band. Another band is Savage, and there's plenty more.
  5. Resources are nice, I shall try and supply them. GGX+ Story Mode: http://mimeblade.oddigytitanium.com/Guilty_Gear/Guilty_Gear_Quote_Project/guilty_gear_x_plus_story.txt GGX and GGXX Drama CD Translations: http://mimeblade.oddigytitanium.com/Guilty_Gear/Guilty_Gear_Quote_Project/Drama_CD_Translations/ I know where to find more such as Theria's note translation of GG2 Dialogue (not that you need it). Also the dialogue for GGXX Story Mode...I believe someone has a thread here for AC+ Story mode as well (check the other sections of this forum). Also, Jin, I have yet to do a solid summary of Part 3 of Night of Knives, I shall get to that soon.
  6. Honestly I'd like someone with more music reading experience to expand the metaphor a bit and see if maybe we can get the jump on the next "jargon experience" from Professor Frederick.
  7. Far enough that they can time travel (I-no) I would assume. To say nothing of forbidden magics that threaten personal harm to yourself or those around you (think alchemy). As for people who can and can't use magic...I'm not sure that sort of class has been established. From what I understand "magic" is more a technology than something you identify classes of people with, though I suppose it is possible to not know magic, many who technically "don't" use it, are fairly powerful regardless (i.e. Johnny, May, Potemkin, Jam, Chipp, etc). That and other things like Ki and skill are influencing their power as well. Most of the time magic is used for combat purposes, so I don't think it's such a convenient thing to be used in everyday instances. Probably magic is a big topic mostly due in part to how closely related it is to Gears themselves since Gears are living beings infused with magic essence. As for how magic is used in most combat situations, I would say that Ky bests illustrates that with the Fuuraiken. Lightning is considered in the LtA novel to be an extremely difficult element to control compared to the others, and it was because of Ky's unnatural skill and genius that he is able to control it proficiently, that they granted him the Thunderseal. I can't say for sure, but the sword seems to have a Lightning elemental sealed inside it which Ky guides to attack with various flicks of his sword. It's hard to say if he's casting magic or if the magic is just coming out, but even so the possibility is there. As for Sol...since his natural power lies in Fire, just gripping an opponent can cause them to burst into flames (as can be seen in his airthrow). More than that though, in the novel he literally becomes a walking flame that burns through several walls to meet up with Solaria. Whether magic is something you use externally from a channeled source or if the source is the body itself is something of a mystery yet, but as I said, anything is possible...and for all we know it's "suspended belief" ultimately, we may never know.
  8. The word "Chilling" comes to mind.
  9. RTL can be offset and cancelled by nearly anything if people see it ahead of time, and Ky can still get hit by projectiles which is LAME. Sacred Edge, Lightning Sphere, and Stun Raise are much more effective. EX T.R. has Wall Stick, which is about the only thing good it has going for it. Best to use it as a followup to VV-Sidewinder CL EX Move when they bounce back from the wall. You can use it for 6H though.
  10. Every FF has a tradition of including a Cid...so you may be right.
  11. I never said you couldn't speculate. I said don't tote your own opinions in along with the facts as they are. I'm not about to say that GG is "just a fighting game". It's an idea and a popular one. It's also a tournament scene, a source for a great amount of fandom, as well as a very ear-opening experience. For me especially since before this game series, I didn't even listen to Heavy Metal music much at all. I wouldn't go so far as to say 'life-changing' or anything like that...but its history entwines with its fans and we wouldn't all be here today without it. When I say "GG is a fighting game" I mean that's the format in which the story is created. I can also say "GG is an RTS" and "GG is a Drama CD" among other things, I wouldn't be wrong but those are other categories GG falls under. True but up till now I don't believe they've gotten historical context as much as GG has...even Blazblue has historical context. Well I did say that, but sometimes people don't want to acknowledge it. They continued to ask me who the good guys and bad guys are et cetera. Anyways, it just so happens even I have my limits in temperment (I am human so I get mad too ).
  12. I'm going to say this in a clear concise manner so that none of you children misunderstand. When you read a story, you don't read it with YOUR BUBBLEHEADED OPINION ATTACHED. You read it to gain knowledge of how the story progresses. I don't care if you think Millia is sexy, I don't care if you think Dizzy has big boobs and pregnant, Ky is gay, Sol is gay, Bridget is a girl, Faust is Baldhead, or the myriad of other speculations put on this table. Hell, I don't care if you're horny as hell and wanna bang Litchi or any other fictional-character-turned-sex-object in your next fanfic. IF IT IS NOT TRUE, OR YOU DON'T KNOW, DON'T SAY THAT IT IS. Of all the things I hate in fan-spew, pairings of man x man, woman x man, woman x woman, or whatever nonsense the kiddies spout, or fan-based endings...the THING I HATE THE MOST...is when people accept this TRIPE as the TRUTH. In addition to this, insulting people is not my forte. I do not LIKE calling people on their stupidity...it makes me feel..."Heavy". I try really really hard to put stuff together in logical order, and organize it in a way that people can digest with as little difficulty and ambiguity as possible. Given that there are HOLES in the storyline either due to imperfections or what are known as "Popularity Writing" where the author writes the story based on which characters are more popular...I do my best to keep track of those things that are LOGICAL and make sense! For example...I do not expect much of a plot change to Zappa because the majority of his endings end in the following ways: not so good, bad, or very bad (XX) bad, or very bad (AC+) Given that...there is VERY LITTLE LIKELIHOOD that the storyline for him will change dramatically between these games because the majority of his story is what is known as "Filler". Now, I understand that such a character is meant as humor and can be seen as popular to some fans...but understand that some characters are intended to jigsaw with the others in intended or unintended ways...such as when Zappa randomly scares Millia in AC+...this in no way changes her plot...it just aggrivates it. Some characters could probably solve their problems by a short blurb of conversation and that would be all there was to it....like Faust attacking Ky because he thought he was suspicious... May I remind everyone that this series of games is of the FIGHTING GAME/BEAT EM UP STRATEGY genre. It means that everyone solves their problems through fighting...in real life, this is not logical. So asking the question "Who is good?", "Who is evil?"....it's whoever you think will win the next set of rounds with SLASH. That's how a fighting game is decided. Granted, Daisuke does his best to make such a story structure as complex and interesting as possible with the limitations he has to work with and really, he did a fine job with all of it considering what I've read so far. The fact that he made a jump to Real-time Strategy Combat means that he knows a thing or two about the limitations in story-telling that Fighting games are known for...so he needed a new medium. ---- Having said that wall-o-text, I'll sum up in italic so you only need to read this part: Fighting game stories are imperfect and have gaps that lead to speculation, but this speculation is never true unless the author says it is. And usually the author only agrees with the fans when the fans' opinions outnumber his own (i.e. popularity). So finally, I have this word to say to the likes of MilliaBigTime45, kryman123, SolRocks, Zazz, and anyone else who has their mind made up in their heart of hearts that the storyline is a certain way: No matter what speculation you want to believe, or who you heard it from (even me), it's NOT TRUE AND YOU'RE WRONG. You will continue to be wrong until Daisuke caves and gives you what you want...and this is unlikely because he is out to make MONEY. You will only be RIGHT when you look at the story at face value and ACCEPT IT without theories and speculation and treat the characters as they are PORTRAYED. If you cannot accept this or refuse it...in my eyes it's better if you don't bother asking questions at all. If anyone asks me another question with this kind of fan-inserted bias in mind again, I will refuse to respond because what you want isn't truth...it's fanfiction...and if you want fanfiction, go write it yourself.
  13. Justice goodies: Zazz's links: http://dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=323985&postcount=24 My fuzzy translation: http://dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=323985&postcount=25
  14. There isn't a "real" ending per se. There are multiple paths just like in GGXX and GGXXAC+. If you're not happy with that go play an RPG where the story is LINEAR. We're still trying to figure out logically what happened between GGX and GGXX and how those stories connect. IF they even connect at all! Sorry if I sound mean, I'm very tired.
  15. Yes, and he found a $20 bill besides. :O ...It's a fighting game...figure how hard it is to figure out "who won" in all that jumbled plot mess...
  16. "Same time" is a blanket term for character's story paths taking place within the same year time frame. For those in the dark about this: Gear Project: 2014 Crusades: 2074-2175 (2074-2183? Alternate Timeline) Kliff Undersn: 2093-2180 (R.I.P.) Justice: 2073-2180 (R.I.P.) Ky: 2159-Present Date (2186 currently) Sol: 2016-Present Date (170 years as a Gear not including former human lifespan) Dizzy: 2179-Present Date GG Seikishidan Recruiting Tournament: 2180 GGX Gear Bounty Hunt: 2181 GGXX Bounty Hunt Aftermath: 2181 (one week later past GGX) GG2 Gear Disappearance Incident: 2186
  17. Japanese Wiki is one thing, sauceplz (aka direct SOURCE) is more reliable. @Shining Aquas: I would almost agree with that except there are quite a few supporting characters you left out. :O
  18. It's not a matter of not understanding. It's a matter of coming to terms and accepting the TRUTH. Someone mentioned fans "staying with a sinking ship" a while back. I believe it's true. @Dark Dizzy+MilliaBigTime45: Do I have to get Leap to spank you two like little kids?
  19. Once again...I feel nobody reads my posts in earnest...I said there are no clear cut definitions and when I said if there IS a Villain it would be Sol, I was speaking linearly. In other words a lot of stuff wouldn't have happened (i.e. Crusades) if he and his science buddies didn't decide to excavate magic from the Backyard....just like if American science didn't invent the nuclear bomb. Just wrap your heads around that for a minute. I'm not trying to get into philosophical debate here but you guys are forcing the issue of who the real villain is...this game series isn't written like that, and I think Daisuke would be insulted as a writer/creator if you tried to read it like that. Big K's got the right idea, Sol's trying to fix his own mess, that's it, and that's all that it really is. @Zazz: Give it up.
  20. Granted, but if that were the case, any bloodshed at all would make every character a villain, even Ky for killing gears. War is fuzzy like that.
  21. The "villains" if you can call them that, are representative usually of Gears run amok. The "villains" would probably be Blackard Company for converting human beings into gears, and also possibly Former Zepp for its inhumane means of treating its Soldiers (or Soldier-Slaves to put it bluntly). Again, nothing is clear cut, and stuff is usually not done without a reason or purpose, it's just that the supposed "good guys" are just people who like to stick their noses in other people's business. If anyone's a TRUE Villain...it would be Sol Badguy himself....THE "Guilty" Gear. Aside from That Man...Frederick was the one who pioneered the Gear Project. He is Mr. Badguy after all. *rimshot*
  22. Crow's more or less just trying to do his job of data aquisition and has a mad scientist's goal of "making a better robot" each and every time.
  23. FRICKEN *FAVED*. I'm taking notes on this one!
  24. Nope. :D Not even THAT MAN is considered truly Evil. As for I-no, she's like a Dominatrice/Masochist or something from BDSM.
