  1. GG's to everyone I've played so far. Getting lots of exposure to new characters which is always a plus. Hope to see many more faces to get matches in with!
  2. You guys do realize that the reason it changed from "pre-order" to "ships in 1 week" is because that's the status of the game on the entire store, not your specific order. Obviously the entire stock was pre-ordered which means anyone who is trying to order the game today is going to have to wait a bit until they have more copies to meet that order. They can't leave the pre-order tag up any longer since it's impossible to pre-order a released game. Just relax and wait for them to go through the pre-orders. Odd's are they will do them in the order they recieved them. I pre-ordered in early june and mine hasn't changed yet. So yea, let's not declare the sky falling just yet. Edit - And just as i finish typing and posting my order has updated to "packing order" so this just confirms my understanding that the "ships in 1 week" status is the status of the game for the entire store. NOT your personal order.
  3. Will do Phrek. Character guides are the most delicate potential episodes because it's so easy to give lackluster info on characters you don't know/understand as well. I'm still working out a lot of details on how i'll handle certain ones! Thank you again to everyone for all the feedback and subscriptions! Keep the suggestions for what match videos you want broken down in Episode 10 coming! The bigger pool of choices I have, the better the show will be! Also for those of you who are looking to get into Blazblue, once I am back in shape with BBCP i will do some IAD-TV episodes on it as well, so stay tuned for that!
  4. Damn Right Kenji. I can't wait to see you again dude!
  5. If you missed last nights episode here is the link to the Youtube Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwVY-_10gQs As I mentioned at the end of this show, Episode 10 is your turn to decide what I do. I'm taking your favorite +R match videos and I will break them down on the next show. Send me links/downloads and I will chose the best ones offered to do in depth analysis of for IAD-TV episode 10! Send your suggestions to Klaige.Iadtv@gmail.com
  6. For those who don't check the calendar IAD-TV returns tonight with episode 9. Tonight will be the first character guide episode and will be all about Anji-Mito. If you've had any interest in learning about him as a main or sub, definitely come join me tonight!
  7. How is it crushing someones dreams to use common sense and tell them "here is a combo that is pretty situational and inconsistent on a lot of characters", and to suggest they would be better served focusing their practice on combos/techniques that they will use regularly in match play? That's like telling a football team to say fuck it an only practice flea flickers/hail marys because they have the most "swag" and look amazing when they hit, and then when someone with half a brain comes in and goes "uh, hey guys, maybe we should practice our standard running/passing game and defense?" only to be told "STOP CRUSHING DREAMS MORON". I clearly stated that if someone wants to practice difficult combos or focus on flair then that's fine, but that it's not the best use of ones time if they are practicing for competitive play. I'm not judging anybody or telling anyone they are wrong for working on whatever they want, I'm just stating the obvious: that if you want to get better at the game for high level play there's far more important things to practice than your "flair" or your most difficult flashy combos. You can't even argue this point John, stop trying to make it sound like I told the dude he's a scrub for asking about one combo. I've been going out of my way to try and help players get better at the game overall and teach them how to get the most out of the game. When someone comes in and says "always practice flair, practice your little heart out" I'm going to call that out as being terrible advice for someone trying to get better at the game for high level match play, because it is! Also your point about the strongest competitive players? AGF and Taka rarely do the IAD combo after On. In fact I've almost never seen them attempt it on anyone but Faust since +R hit, and I even said that Faust is the exception to the rule because the IAD combo does work on him quite consistently. Even with that, why would you spend tons of time on a combo that's only truly reliable in one matchup? There's 24 other characters you need to figure out what to do with. Oh and many of the strongest players in the world don't play for flair. Woshige is still far and away the best Millia and he consistently does the good but not over the top flashy combos to ensure his knockdowns and oki. Of course there are situational combos and flashy combos for more damage that players should know about and consider, GG's combo system having a lot of free-form to it makes that an option, but stop blowing smoke up people's asses and telling them spending all their time on "flair" is going to help them be a strong player. If you want to tell them it will make for awesome combo vid material and let them get an extra option for damage in certain match situations then fine, but the fact remains that telling someone to always up their flair is awful advice if their goal is to become a stronger player in tournaments/casuals. More often than not when people ask advice in a character forum they are seeking answers to be a better player, not to have more "flair". And before you go pathetically attempting to twist my words again: If you want to practice your flashiest most difficult combos, make combos videos, or just challenge yourself in training mode go for it, there's nothing wrong with that. If you want to get stronger at competitive play. There are better uses of your time in terms of working on fundamentals, offense, defense, consistent BnB's and a plethora of other things. If this statement "crushes your dreams", you may want to try growing some thicker skin.
  8. You are quite welcome. If you have any specific questions on the topics just shout.
  9. I've actually done episodes of IAD-TV on the neutral game, Defensive mentality, and Okizeme (a major part of offense). Now granted those episode focuson guilty gear instead of blazblue but the fundamentals behind them carry over to most 2d fighters, and especially to arc-sys games. Click the link in my signature and give them a watch, they might help clear up a lot of your questions without having to type out a 30 page guide on these rather depthy topcis!
  10. If you want to make combo videos make combo videos. If you want to have consistent things for match play then spending time on flair when there are far more important things you can work on with your time is awful silly. There's nothing wrong with practicing flashy combos to change things up or to just give yourself execution challenges but to say "always up your flair" is pretty terrible advice for how to actually get stronger for competitive play.
  11. Because using the faq and buying the japanese version of the game off PSN is so hard if you actually want to put any effort into it.
  12. Well: at least its news: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=220062341493047&l=aad77e0e9e There you go America, according to the bottom of a high heel shoe you get +R patch this year. For fuck sake can we get a real PR scene over here. Cmon arc-sys.
  13. You just said 4 different times you dont care about +R, aka the game this discussion applies to, so if you don't care why are you bothering to post?
  14. It's how I feel about it, guilty gear will not be a proper competitive game at that point, it changes everything and not for the better. I'm certainly not telling everyone they have to quit playing the game, but in terms of having legit good high level competition, if you make this a part of the equation then the US competitive scene is diluted down into a silly joke at that point, and in those terms, imo, yes you might as well just sit and play BB, P4 or wait for XRD because +R at high level will be cheapened and serve little purpose as a tournament game if we bring this into play. When I say I personally won't enter tournaments that allow it, that's all im saying, im only speaking for myself. I will say that i have talked to other players who have said they will actually do the same thing, but i'm not trying to start the picket line against GG tournaments if this becomes the norm, I'm merely stating that its how I personally will approach it and nothing more. I'm just another person with another opinion, and usually I don't care to get involved in these kind of debates. But this one issue has such huge ramifications on GG and the US scene that i feel it's worth my effort to post my stance on it. Some people will disagree with what i say, because it's an opinion, and nobody has one that's universally agreed with.
  15. That I talk like what? That i'm not afraid to state harsh facts about something that is bad for the game? I'm sorry i don't live up to whatever your expectations are. I'm a common sense individual, when something is blatantly causing an issue for a game that I care about I'm going to call it out. I don't really know what you are upset about considering you are basically saying you don't care about the game anyway? How do you expect me to talk? Did you want me more subtle? Do you expect me to talk like a politician? I'm not going to sugar coat my words on a subject that shouldn't be an issue, but is now a MASSIVE issue for the health of the game I care about most. So uh, sorry I don't talk exactly how you want me to. This sounds more like you wanted to talk about how pissy you are that someone complains about the character you play, because that's obviously super relevant to this conversation. Pretty much everything you just posted was an exercise in flapping your gums in something that you don't care about anymore, so congrats.
  16. I'm going to make this very simple: If you let this glitch ride then you might as well stop playing Gear until XRD. I can tell you right now a lot of players will just not enter tournaments if this is how the game is going to be played. No community is perfect and we all have to grow with the games and how they change, but the fact that people are actually talking about this somehow making the game better is the single most disappointing thing I have ever seen from the GG player base in 10 years of competing. I am so blown away that the prospect of this being how the XX series goes out in the american scene. It is really sad and this is really a horrible way to go into a brand new game and engine that has a chance to be a marquee title in the fighting game scene. I straight up will not enter a single tournament where this glitch is allowed, I feel that strongly about how much of a detriment this is to the game. Still hanging on to what I really hope is not foolish optimism that everyone is going to do the right thing here.
  17. If you do the butterfly meaty he can't reversal FDB it, and then the 2nd hits of the butterfly make FBD almost impossible to get out which creates the lockdown.
  18. Thanatos you make he most semantic filled bullshit arguments i've ever seen. You are continuing to prattle on about shit because you can't accept that your viewpoint on this subject is completely off base and nobody cares about your cute philosophical outlook on the notion of fighting game balance. It would behoove everyone to ingore the shit out of you from this point on and focus on the actual important topic here of the ramifications of the macro glitch, because you are a gigantic fucking waste of everyone's time in this thread.
  19. No that's actually quite game breaking. You could lock down pot until he got a burst at the right distance, which is insanely stupid. No person could do this reliably, like flat out not ever could you do this in a normal situation without the glitch. This is just one example, and again is showing why i've said this is a pandora's box waiting to be opened. This is only the tip of what might actually be possible with this nonsense.
  20. And suddenly the piss poor arguments and examples you've given make perfect sense.
  21. Justice doesn't just reach "full potential" she get's access to something that can't be done by human hands alone, period. The worst result is that you open the door for every tool-assisted option to come into play in tournaments. If you allow this macro input glitch how do you tell someone they can't use turbo or programmable inputs? They are in essence doing the same thing, so giving one the ok and not the others becomes hypocritical and now you have a bigger problem. Now you've allowed something besides the players actual skill at the game to determine the outcome and that's never a good thing to have in any competitive situation. If the macros are banned the worst thing that happens is pad players who use macros for their intended purpose get screwed. Make no mistake for all I've said about this issue I have a great deal of reservation over taking away something pad players have always had access to and likely will never abuse. Ideally we ban the act and not the macro itself but there's simply no way for TO's to enforce that rule, you'd have to have someone staring at everyone's controllers for an entire match, and even that might still make it difficult to notice if they use it. It's not so much what this glitch does by itself, (even though for a justice player it's a huge tool that she's not meant to have) but the precedent it sets by allowing it to go forward. If this didn't overlap with a part of the game that's been accepted for years (allowing button macros) it would be auto-banned without second thought. This is a gray area because it's a glitch that is detrimental to the game but encompasses a part that is a kick in the mouth to players that use the option for it's intended purpose. At the end of the day it's going to require a black/white response (ban them or dont) that is again an area of obvious grayness. IMO the pros of banning this far outweigh the cons of letting it go, but i'm not oblivious to the fact that this creates very unfortunate results for pad players.
  22. I said it is an unintended glitch and that the very nature of it's execution makes that not really an issue. allow a macro frame perfect input tool would make it VERY much an issue. That's all ive said from the get go, is that this macro is a pandora's box to circumvent execution and that is a very BAD thing for the game. You have insinuated otherwise, that execution only serves as a way to measure gaps in player effort and skill. Basically you are jumping all over the place and haven't provided one good reason for why the macro ISNT a big deal other than "i don't think it's a big deal even though i can't accurately tell you how important execution is to a game". If you are striving for excellence in waffling you are doing a fantastic job.
  23. If it's irrelevant to game balance then you are saying it doesn't matter, you are saying it has no purpose what so ever into how the fundamental balance of the game is made.i You can't say it's sole purpose to seperate players into who puts the most effort in, especially when a player with average execution but excellent decision making and reads can do just as well if not better than a player with top tier execution but below average reads. I also like how you skipped over the double butterfly argument after it made you look foolish for your assumptions about consistency in execution being a gateway to allow a tool-assited option into the mix. But that's fine most people tend to cherry pick their responses when they start looking foolish.
  24. You can not accept it all you want, and yes it is impossible because the timing changes based on character size, how far away they are, their wakeup timing and a plethora of various other variables. It's a just frame timing on a moving target and the human eye isn't accurate enough to discern when a character is 1 pixel further away from them compared to last time which changes the target frame to a raw guess. No, it's not possible to do consistently, in fact it's why you only see even TOP LEVEL players try it on potemkin, because his hitbox is so wide that the timing is almost always exactly the same. Saying the risk doesnt come from the difficulty of the input but from the players inability to do it is fucking semantics and you know it, that's the same thing. You act like because something CAN be done consistently that makes it valid to offer up the ability to allow a tool-assited input into the equation. That's an absolutely awful precedent to set. So if i go practice double butterfly for the next 5 years and get it to where i can do that say 75% of the time, that should now be available to everyone via a tool-assist? Do you realize how absolutely stupid that sounds? You want to trivialize the part of the game where people practice inputs, they practice techniques and add that to their decision making process. This is the basic principle of fighting games, you can't have it both ways and say execution is relevant to one type of balance and not the other. You are basically grasping at straws because you have some strange viewpoint that people who put time into execution shouldn't be rewarded for it, and while i get what you are trying to say, that simply practicing execution is not practicing the decision making part of the game, it's still a very valid part of fighting games themselves. No one just sits and practices raw execution with no decision making and succeeds, it takes the entire package. If you want raw execution but no decision making play rythm games. If you want all decision making and no execution, play Chess. The unique combination of the two is what makes fighting games (and other competitive games for that matter) a unique and fun experience. You can't have your cake and eat it to, this one glitch alone offers up the ability for tool-assisted options everywhere because you don't think execution gaps between players are relevant to game balance, and you are very misguided in that view. Thankfully you are not the final vote on the subject and any TO with a lick of common sense will realize this is a can of worms that doesn't need opened and take care of it.
