  1. I know most everyone here is disappointed with the decision, and even if you don't go to SRK i'd like you to read this post: http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/no-blazblue-at-evo-2012.152171/page-3#post-6340753 I know a lot of you aren't bitching and crying foul, but there are some loud ones that are, and they are doing you as Blazblue players no favors. I'm not BB's biggest supporter as many of you know, but I don't think I can stress enough that this is your biggest opportunity as a community to really show if this game is big or not in this country. What you do with this chance is entirely up to you, and I sincerely hope the BB players show up in mass and throw some gigantic brackets together. I'm not trying to single out anyone in this post, or call out BB players in general, I just think this situation needed some perspective in a bad way, and I hope my little write up over at SRK provides that. If you disagree with me, that's cool, but I think if you are really feeling cheated about the Evo lineup that post may at least give you something to think about. Best of luck to you all in whatever 2012 tournaments you hit up.
  2. Yep like J1n said we will be back guys. He's in the middle of moving, but once that is settled, look for us to start up again during the holiday season!
  3. Yea we are kind of hiatus right now guys. We will be back, don't worry. It's just deadzone time for fighters, and j1n has been super busy. We'll keep you guys up to date.
  4. We've definitely got some plans for future episodes. Right now we've all just been busy, (j1n is super busy with job and real life shit at the moment), We'll definitely get back at it when the time is right. We still have more characters we want to break down and have guests (in the case for Anji, Kenji and I can handle that one of course). So yea, we aren't dead or giving up the show, it's just been an unfortunate combination of real life stuff, schedule conflicts, and just the fact that right now is kind of a dead zone for fighting games. Stick with us and we'll keep you updated next time were going to get an episode recorded.
  5. Yea again our apologies for no podcast last night guys. We want to do this every week, but there's just times where we are busy, or as J1n said, when there's just nothing interesting to talk about. We'd rather skip a week and gather solid material/guests then just halfass a show just to maintain the weekly deadline. TGS is coming up very soon and we have some ideas for down the road so stick with us until then. We really appreciate all the support.
  6. Indeed sir I was. It was very much a last minute thing. Even worse my ps2 stick malfunction so I only played 1 match in singles and then borrowed sticks for teams (and I absoultely suck at executing without my stick in gear. Ok check that I suck at execution all the time lol). Sorry I missed you, though I dunno why anyone wants to play my washed up Anji haha. I would have enjoyed a few matches. I like the johnny matchup, it's fun and has some interesting ticks to it, but I rarely get to play it anymore since no one plays him (and cuz no one plays accent core).
  7. My apologies to both Ky-Sama and Sol-bumguy for not making it to this podcast. I've been in the midst of a family crisis this week and my schedule has been a tire-fire since monday morning. Thank you very much to the two of you for coming on and I hope you enjoyed being guests on the podcast.
  8. We definitely apologize for the tech issues last night. Both AKA and Bozac were not at their homes last night so we had to work with some untested equipment and situations. We'll continue to try and improve the quality each week. Sometimes skype just doesn't like to get along and those nights will happen, but we'll hopefully clean up some of the things we can prevent like background noise. Glad you are digging the podcast! We all really enjoy doing it.
  9. Just found out i'll be at EVO, so yep, sign me up kids. Klaige - West Des Moines, Iowa
  10. Huge shoutouts to everyone who listened live and to those of you who are taking the time to check it out after the mp3 is up if you aren't available on tues nights. We're having a good time doing this and we hope it's something to help not just put some life into the GG community in the states again, but to get everyone excited for when the series makes a return to the forefront of tournament fighting games with a new release. Your comments, suggestions, and ideas are always welcome. The audience is what will make this thing go, we're just the medium to deliver hopefully a lot of good information and some fun and laughs along the way.
  11. Thanks man! Wish I woulda known years ago the secret to winning tournies was to not actually play in them but instead go drink a lot of beer.
  12. With enough booze I think CS is alright, also I play Hazama and he is interesting, in 4 I play boxer. He is not interesting. (and why i'm switching to yang lol).
  13. Hey Mike, go ahead and unreg me for SSF4, ima be way too busy catching up with all you guys, playing shitloads of gear and getting drunk to care about that crap. As always i'll have a full setup for Gear.
  14. I'm starting to learn good ol VS as well. Look for me on GGPO.
  15. It's doubtful that there is anyway to do 6C after that J.6D~D that late in the combo. However it's possible 5C, 6C would work (would have to be tested). Also note that the 5B doesn't even have to be counterhit. 5B gatlings to 2C. So it would just be a regular hit-confirm into Houtenjin.
  16. Makes sense, I assumed with the lower level on chains it would even out, but early video's have shown otherwise. Good call.
  17. CS2 in general is all about the corner, most characters lost their ability to big damage midscreen (there are exceptions, noel for example). Hazama's case is that he's much lower damage midscreen, but has gotten improved zoning with the faster chains and cancels, and maintains a decent pressure game that is pretty safe to use. Hazama's main goal early on is to do 2 things right now: Build meter, and get to a corner. Where hazama has a nice advantage is that his damage gets much higher regardless of who is in the corner (obviously it's far more advantageous to be the one pushing the opponent in the corner, but because of the reversal power of Hotenjin, hazama still can gain great reward with his back to the corner). In general your observations are correct, Hazama midscreen does between 1500-1800 with no meter on average, and can get up to 3-4k with meter on average. Once he hits the corner he's getting 2500+ without meter and between 5-7k with meter. Obviously it's all matchup dependent, there are some characters like Makoto and Tager that you're going to focus harder on keeping them away as opposed to going for outright pressure. But anytime you reach the corner you are in a position for huge damage by CS2 standards (at least at this point in the games lifespan). Something else to take note of is that i have been seeing far more hazama's pull in on blocked chains now. I'm not sure if this is a result of the increase speed in the chains, or if Hazama's are just playing a bit riskier due to the fact that his uber-safe up close pressure game from CS1 (5B) is not as strong now. So that is something else to keep in mind.
  18. So really, one drunken shit-talk post when i get home from the bar and I silence the fedora thread for 3 days? I'm even more awesome than I realized!
  19. you all suck. Midwest is Midbest. Seriously, please go back to stuffing each others dick in yo moufs. [/drunk]
  20. Wow.... this is fucking sad.
  21. I got to work this morning, read this forum as was like:
  22. The combo itself is very impractical (burstable, requires a ton of resources, etc) but what it does show is that if you hit with a juicy counter hit that lacks proration it might be worth a gold burst to get some huge damage out of the deal.
  23. Room is booked. Me and the wife will be there just like every Faustings!
  24. I looked up some hotels Mike and there are quite a few in the area but obviously it's more fun if we all stay in the same one for casuals and shit. The sooner we can get this picked out the better, i don't wanna drive 35 minutes to get to the venue like last year, i couldnt get drunk with you guys!
  25. In theory the new big damage Jayoku combo will still involve Hazama with his back near the corner: I.E. 236236B, 6D~A, 4D~A, (avoid same chain prorate), 623D, 2B, 5C, 236D, (wall bounce), 5C, 2C, air combo. I'm assuming we'll also be able to replace Jabaki with 6C because of the whole new bound on air hit thing. Either way a FC Jayoku with you in the corner should still be good for close to 5K. At one point it was a listed change that 623D had more proration too so this could change things as well. If that is no longer there then we might be spending more meter on 623D RC combos in the future as well. Hard to say but I think the majority of Hazama's combos that use meter will still be very similar to his CS1 version. We'll just be doing less Dash 3C, 236236B, relaunches and less double Jayoku's.
