Ky is the easiest in terms of pick up and play. I use him because I don't practice at all, and there's not that much you need to know. However, since he's so easy to pick up, winning with Ky is a whole different ballgame altogether. It's like being in Hajime no Ippo where you're Kobayashi and everyone else is Ippo. You will be dancing around, clinching to avoid getting killed and grinding your opponent down with your wimpy ass jab while trying to win off points in a war of attrition, and then all of a sudden eating a LOL liver blow because of one miss and getting KOed. If that analogy doesn't work for you, then here's an example: If that kind of thing appeals to you, then go for it. Otherwise, I think you should simply pick a character that suits your playstyle the best. TBH, I don't think Anji is easy at all, both from a strategy and an execution standpoint. At least if you want to win with him...if you just want to play LOLTROLLAnji, then meh.

I gave it a try around 1:21:00-1:40:00 or so against Tenkai, maybe it might amuse you. I think Brett is right. I would also add trying 6k and 2k a little more. Yeah, 2k proration is garbage, but the reach is pretty good and you can get a surprising number of counter hits at odd distances. More on that serious butterfly usage, it'll help if you can disguise when you're going to throw a butterfly versus doing a fuujin or run up 2k or maybe even doing nothing. Then Johnny might try something pre-emptively, which you can shut down on reaction. But I'm a LOLTROLLAnji so :8/:

I posted this earlier, but I can also host the entire thing, provided that people bring chairs and setups. I should have more than enough space. But again, I live in the middle of nowhere in Campbell and will probably charge a token venue fee, so it should really be a last resort.

Pending the outcome of the Shadowbrookes venue, I don't mind donating a huge portion of the venue fee for the Pacifica venue, so long as someone writes me a receipt for tax purposes. It doesn't seem like that many people are going to show up anyway, but a more accurate headcount would help.

The fact that I can troll everyone even though I pretty much only play at ranbats is quite telling. I don't even have a legit setup at home, and I'm more or less retired from serious competition, so there is absolutely no reason for me to be doing as well as I do. Outside of Rod, there are maybe like, three or four other people that I do think are seriously improving in GG, but all of those people are simply improving from "completely free" to "mostly free". Most of y'all simply do not seem to care enough. For example, even if you don't have ready access to competition, at the very least y'all could study your own ranbat match videos and figure out where you are going wrong. Hell, I typically do a semi post-mortem through my own match vids a few days before each ranbat so I can relearn how to play the game again before I go. Back in my day, recordings were so scarce that I would've actually paid money for such footage, since it's such an invaluable learning tool. Instead, I use to replay the matches in my mind to figure out what went wrong, which is a really inefficient way of doing things. Y'all are so damn lucky in this regard....but judging from the number of views for the recordings, it seems like I'm the only one who even bothers to review his own matches, which completely boggles my mind. I mean, if you seriously want to get better, shouldn't you at least do that much? Also, I'm taking the week off, so if y'all want me to play GG or whatever and ask questions, I'm willing to do that.

East coast has always been better than West Coast at shitty fighting games. :psyduck: Tokido is always the WORST top player you would want to emulate in any fighting game, since he just trolls stupid shit and makes every fighting game he touches look really stupid. Daigo is probably the second last, but only because his playstyle only works for him and nobody else.

Arakune almost makes me not want to play the game anymore. Just the sheer length of a corner combo is like getting hit by an ironman infinite, but more boring and stupid. Plus you can't even mash on your own buttons to screw up your opponent's timing. Platinum also seems to indicate that the game was not meant to be taken all that seriously. Maybe I should play her.

More importantly, do we even have a venue?

I can host at my place, but only as an absolute last resort. I have the space, just not the chairs, tables or setups, and I also live in the middle of nowhere with neighbors who probably wouldn't appreciate 40+ people coming out of nowhere. Plus I have a shitty internet connection. I would also charge a token venue fee because I am such an anti-social asshole.

You've obviously never seen the original Iron Chef and their legendary penchant for putting the theme ingredient into the ice cream machine. 'cause like, the first thing you would obviously think of when the theme is "Japanese Sardines" is "SARDINE ICE CREAM! FUCK YEAH!" Let alone the sheer hype that Chariman Kaga brings to any situation. I herd dat guy Vinny Testaverde could play football perty darn well back in teh day.

I tried to make it not so free but..... Perhaps I should actually prepare something specific for Slayer instead of relearning how to play AC at each ranbat
