  1. I wish there was a way for a game to detect if someone was attempting to utilize its online mode via wi-fi and pop-up with a message politely asking them to knock that shit off or their PS3 will be set on fire. People trying to play fighting games over wireless is half the reason that PSN has such a bad rep. This shit isn't that expensive. I've wired an entire house for ethernet. It wasn't especially hard.
  2. Potemkin's best matchup? Seriously though while the mirror here doesn't feel quit as retarded as the Tager mirror (wheeeee magnetism) or as dumb as SFIV (I successfully landed my BnB and all I got was SPDed) it's not fun and I'm not good at it. All the Potemkins I've played online seem to use forward Mega-Fist a hell of a lot more than I do and I think it's for one of two reasons (possibly both). Either they're terrible and use that move against everyone OR they realize that depending on the spacing Potemkin can't do shit about it on block so why not throw it out. That said I'm definitely open to suggestions on how to approach this thankfully fairly rare matchup.
  3. 1) Very debatable. IMO links are much harder to really get down than chain based combo systems. 2) I would say it's more that the characters and their mechanics are more differentiated making switching between characters trickier. 3) That's only a problem when those people try to take their skills to other games. I would also argue that = half circle is worse as in teaching this shortcut instead of an alternate input it's directly reinforcing lazy execution. 4) Sort of. Unless my math is completely off (which I don't think is the case) between entry fees and a sizable pot bonus BB:CP had the highest payout of any game at Evo last year for all the good that and having a really hype grand finals did for earning a return invite.
  4. If I'm remember correctly my opponent, playing Sol, did a low altitude air dash (don't remember what move they did), got hit by CH 6P and continued past me at around Potemkin shoulder height without Potemkin turning around. Obviously this doesn't happen very often but the fact that it can happen is, as mentioned, kind of bullshit. The move already has a kind of shitty risk-reward ratio without the reward part not working consistently.
  5. Hell, I'd be happy if what happened tonight would never happen again. Hit opponent with CH 6P and they somehow cross over me but I don't turn around quickly enough to get even the most basic of follow ups which is bullshit. CH 6P needs to stop their forward momentum.
  6. Yay! Can actually probably make it to this.
  7. I think that play-asia is claiming that they're going to have another batch of Hori PS3/4 sticks in stock in the next week or two.
  8. Noted even though I still don't get this change. The whole reason, by my understanding, from changing a few years ago from Wednesdays to Fridays was that people have shit to do during the week.
  9. Are there going to be any people at Xanadu this Friday for Xrd? I would also be up for meet ups in the Montgomery County area.
  10. Yeah, I am game for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I can only do one day though as I have a lot of other shit that needs taking care of but when it gets taken care of is pretty flexible.
  11. If the store's actually going to be open for FGC hours (i.e. until people leave on their own) I would be bringing UNIEL.
  12. Be there stuff going on at Xanadu tomorrow and if so at what time would said stuff be occurring?
  13. From what I've seen it sometimes seems like a self fulfilling prophecy. [Games gets marginalized so people don't show up] x N From my recollection the last few times that an anime game has been a main Evo game they've been around in the middle of the road attendance-wise with BlazBlue: ChronoPhantasma and Persona 4: Arena being such examples.
  14. Sort of. It's becoming more of a convention than a tournament. Also if a game can have shit attendance one year, get dropped from the card and then buy their way back onto the card then it's not about having the best and biggest games it's about money. I don't think I was that unreasonable in my analysis of what Evo 2015 is likely to look like. I'm not really talking about anime vs. Capcom. I'm talking about anime vs. games with suspect fan support but better financial backing. Being realistic there are three (based on combination of past performance and anticipatory hype) anime games that could conceivably make Evo in 2105 in Guilty Gear Xrd, BlazBlue: ChronoPhantasma and Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax. IMO every one of those games would out draw and out hype another year of Killer Instinct (which will almost certainly return due to a combination of money talking and a second season of DLC characters) and yet it's highly likely that only two of them are going to make it. At that point it's IMO not really about the 'biggest games' but about the games that bring the TOs the most money. And god help us if Tekken Tag Tournament 2 gets another shot...
  15. I kind of started thinking the same thing once I saw the release schedule for this year. UNIEL then P4A:U then AH3:LM then Xrd. Realistically EVO 2015 starts with USFIV, UMvC3 (-_-) and whatever version of Smash Nintendo wants to be there. From there it's safe to assume that Injustice and KoFXIII won't be coming back. I would say the same for Tekken given that games dismal attendance but I'm not ruling out them paying Evo off again to keep their game in the rotation. Similarly while it would disappoint me it wouldn't surprise me to see Killer Instinct back in 2015. Additionally Mortal Kombat X has an early 2015 release date so it's probably safe to assume that it's getting a slot whether it deserves it or not. To me the real elephant in the room is ChronoPhantasma. In short is it going to yield a better and better attended tournament than some of the other anime games that might replace it? I don't know one way or another with regards to that but the sad conclusion that I'm coming to is that there are 3-5 deserving anime games for at most two slots with the more like allotment being just one. That sucks. Compare that to a possible anime only lineup and you get something like (please don't jump down my throat if I've missed something): Main Games: Guilty Gear Xrd Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax BlazBlue: ChronoPhantasma Under Night In-Birth: EXE Late Side Games: Arcana Heart 3: Love Max Guilty Gear XX AC+R Melty Blood:Actress Again Current Code (most current version?) To me, that lineup is enough to populate at least a very solid two day or possibly three day (with team tournaments) event.
  16. <- Not surprised. This area is a fucking disaster with regards to its public transportation.
  17. Sunday sounds alright.
  18. I'm hoping that a decent number of Lolimaiko's matches from West Coast Warzone got recorded. From what I saw of his stuff his neutral and combos aren't as clean as Japanese players or even BrkrDave but good lord was his corner fragment pressure relentless. Really interested in seeing more from him.
  19. So I'm glad I checked this before heading up there today. Does anyone know how/if this currently affects their fighting game schedule?
  20. That's so weird. Like according to the frame date chart you posted A version is -23 on block while B version is -34 on block. Which is the difference between getting fucked up and getting fucked up. That said this is one instance where her passive ability can make it difficult to figure out. Like in other games when your reversal gets stuffed you (usually) get counter hit. Here though nothing. Which leaves me wondering if I screwed up the input or if the move ran out of invincibility whenever I fail to anti-air.
  21. That's good to know though now I'm wondering why you'd ever try to anti-air someone with the Flash Kick A if Flash Kick B has sufficient invulnerability to anti-air, deals more damage and IMO leaves you with a better setup (charge air projectile). I also found something dumb (?) that I don't recall seeing mentioned here but if you alternate between the A and B versions and use hover you can fire off ~7-8 air lasers before hitting the ground starting off pretty low. Something like A, B, A, Hover, A, B, A, B, A land. I have no idea if this is useful. Utility is questionable because B laser goes at a downward angle. That said hover, as far as I'm aware, isn't really useful so if it serves a purpose here then w00t. I guess.
  22. So, sort of on this topic but roughly how much invincibility do the various versions of her flashkick actually have?
  23. Good games to the decent number of people who showed up to Xanadu yesterday for that UNIB. It was nice to play actual people as opposed to *shudders* online.
  24. Seems like it would be very similar to a *shudders* Guile mirror. First person to jump loses. -_-
  25. That's good to know. In case you couldn't tell I'm fairly new to this game so I was also wondering if [6]4B (ground version) was useful in this particular matchup as well? Good to know. Thanks.
