So, and hopefully not too random a question, but is there any point and/or advantage to doing instant-air Lumen Stella or Mico Ruceo?
-
Just weighing in on the original question a bit. To me this game feels a lot smoother than BB. The pacing is better. The combos feel more intuitive. At least relative to the last time I played BB, the balance seems a hell of a lot better. Also compared to the other game I've spent a lot of time playing in UMvC3 P4A feels more honest in that win or lose you know why you won or lost.

This is really weird. I've seen more Teddie players in ~1/2 hour of Big Two #40 than I did in ~8 hours worth of various Cali tournaments.
-
I would say it's almost un-bear-able. Mostly because it's (for me anyway) hard enough to keep track of what item you're on much less where in the item queue your opponent is AND unless I really missed something (unlike say your more traditional projectiles) there isn't much distinguishing yours from your opponents. The good news is that it's looking like it will be a fairly rare matchup.

Q1: Does this character sub-forum have a moderator? Q2: Does anyone with actual skillz at the game have any inclination to start matchup discussion threads?
-
Every day I spend on SRK I ask myself the same question. I guess it's what happens where you get into a position early enough and do a less crap job at it than your contemporaries you eventually consolidate influence etc. and then you can do stuff like this.
-
FYI in case anyone cares: it looks like a decent number of the videos in the OP have been removed due to the account with which they where associated having violated Youtubes TOS/Sony being a douche.

But then you'd undo Kokonoe's greatest scientific achievement: figuring out how to magnetize pillows.

You're right. I am a pessimist and rightfully so. ASW took a bottom 4 character in CS1 and made him worse in CSII. There are about a million ways (estimated) to make Tager better. ASW hasn't implemented one of them.
-
You're right. Things can always get worse.
-
Tager deal damage?!? Surely you jest. Also if they're going to reduce the pull on 6A why not just scrap magnetism entirely as at this point the only move left with decent pull is 720(?), right? /salty. Also here's a big whoop-deee-do over being able to charge up B-sledge. Let me know when we can cancel it. Also re: stages of grieving. I am always at the acceptance stage as I've looked at and/or played enough other games to have a pretty good idea what makes a good grappling character and as it currently stands Tager has none of those attributes.
-
Indeed. I was pessimistic about Tager even before I sat through the first ~1 hour of A-Cho footage that got linked to on SRK. Pessimism in this case reinforced by the fact that this segment didn't feature a single Tager player.

I would support this. I mean Arakune has a curse meter why can't we have mag meter. I imagine that without a curse meter that Arakune would only know that he'd run out of meter when he'd won the round.

LK's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY question thread

On one hand I think they fixed most of the instances where Gadget Finger whiffed on Arakune. On the other hand I really doubt that matters and that IB change plus a few changes to Arakunes moves do in fact make this matchup worse. That thudding sound you're hearing right now is me beating my head against my desk. Short answer: Long Answer: Yes, long term use of depressants can lead to impaired reflexes. How impaired will be dependent on duration, frequency and quantity. If you really, really want me to I can try to dig some stuff up on PubMed to support this. -

Personally I don't think a double jump would significantly affect more than a handful of matchups (vs. zoners) in any measurable way. Increasing ground mobility would also be a start. He is pretty much the least mobile character of any archetype relative to the system under which he operates that I am aware of in any fighting game. That said my preference would be for normal moves that could actually intimidate a girl scout troop. -

And a pony. Seriously though Tager's issues where painfully obvious in CT and now two revisions later none of them have been significantly addressed (i.e. crap mobility and crap normals). I don't see that changing. -

I thought if Litchi just wanted out of Gadget Finger shenz that jump back B beat all of Tagers options in that obviously ground options whiff and it beats out 6A and Collider. Or am I smoking crack here? Not that Litchi has really anything to worry about from Tager post Gadget anyway. -
I think it's fair to generalize that in any fighting game the quality of the grappler will be largely determined by the quality of his normals relative to the rest of the cast and his movement/movement options relative to the rest of the cast. GG:AC Potemkin has normals that other characters actually have to respect and viable movement options even in the absence of an air dash. SSFIV actually is one of the most compelling cases for this argument as it has 4 grappler characters at very disparate levels of quality to compare to one another with Abel as the best and Hakan as by far the worst. I would also say that so far my limited experience with AH3 would lead me to lump Kira in with Potemkin, i.e. solid normals and due to the nature of the game movement isn't an issue though lacking a Hammerfall or Slidehead analog definitely puts her below Pot. Looking at Iron Tager from this perspective it's not hard to see why he's a shittily designed character. His movement blows and his normals might be the worst in the game. Flame away, I guess.

Football season is almost over. This will free up a lot of time for driving to Xanadu to get crushed at BB and AH3. =p
-
Which matchups are you specifically worried about IB nerf really fucking? I also agree with your sentiment on playability of the game. I'm giving CS2 ~1 month to prove me wrong when/if it becomes available.
-
Which would mean that the low tier characters still get sent to the glue factory, right?
-
Have we figured out whether or not Tager can forward throw into Astroll yest? Also regarding CS2: Fuck Arakune.

A little something like this? In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team. Video Version FTW!!!

LK's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY question thread

Serious reply is serious: Not to add fuel to the fire but several popular sticks have been proven to have minute amounts of lag. Additionally there is the distinct possibility that a small amount of lag is introduced in dual mod setups. That said, the amount of lag should be inconsequential for actual gameplay and if you believe either of the above is actually affecting your play then you're either playing a game with extraordinarily restrictive timing or your just looking for excuses. -
Oooh ooh and I especially like how quickly she can rip through 10 primers.
