Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN

I know, I felt SO BAD. Like, I turned to watch Astaroth finish his pinball game, turn around, and there ABA is all bandagey from her Instant Kill. I'm the worst person EVAR. D: But that just means you'll have to do another one eventually, which I don't have a problem with. :3c And dood, I'm LOVING Volcanic Viper. I saw some guy do a Sidewinder loop off it recently, and that made me even more hype to play Sol. Though I'm still considering Order Sol for comboing into Instant Kill potential. And yeah, Sidney is Tret_Tree. Jimmy doesn't have an account here though. I'll try to remedy that soon. Props on remembering their names- I'm terrible with that shit. XP -

Aw, yuck. Is that the EVO standard? I always thought it'd be Round Robin (or at least, people play most other people in the pool, and the best scorers proceed). And Naimat, check your P.M.'s. -

Thanks Astaroth. I'd definitely welcome more commentary from you. :] If nobody's using it, feel free to pick up the mic and have at it whenever you feel like it. And even if someone is already using it, the mic is sensitive enough to allow for a second (or even third) commentator. Seconded. That's more or less what I was getting at, even though it isn't what I said. Either way, I never get any biased vibes from your commentary, so I don't know what that random Youtube guy was talking about. -

I agree with everybody, Round Robin pools are awesome. I was super hype when I thought BB at MWC was Round Robin, especially after I lost my first game, and then it... Totally wasn't. :/ Are you asking because of Anime Southeast, Milln? Or does this have to do with MTN as well? Dood, everybody feels that way. I know I sure as hell do, and (at least in regards to Blazblue) I know I should know what I'm talking about. It just never sounds like I do when I listen back to myself. I.E. You never do as bad a job as commentating as you think you do. It's just that listening back to your own voice is... Weird. Yeah, when the headset is on, you can hear the mic feeding your own voice back to you a bit. It really screws me up. Whenever I can hear myself talk like that, I often try to change my voice to sound like it's more genuine, when in reality, it only sounds more fake. Gah. I wish we hadn't lost that SCV commentary. ;_; -

Probably P4A, considering Guilty Gear is still in loketest state. If you like Relius, there's a good chance you'll love P4A. Considering... You know... Pretty much every character works like Relius. -

It's no problem. I hope it ISN'T long for now. And dude, I know exactly how you feel. I'm 20 years old and my parents still treat me like I'm well under. There's a story involving last year's MWC, the accidental negligence of my phone, and my parents driving from Cookeville to Murfreesboro at 3 in the morning to Milln's apartment. But that's a story I can tell in person, or you can read back in the thread for if you're curious. tl;dr- Your parents can't be more unreasonable than mine. :P If Woz lives in the Knoxville vicinity, he probably doesn't even know what chips are. I can imagine him picking up a bag of chips for the first time, staring at it confusedly for an extended period of time, then going "I don't know how I feel about this." -

Blazblue in its entirety should be edited and uploaded by tonight. It's clear to me now that the source of my procrastination was my wisdom teeth. -

You have Woz's controller, because Woz took the arcade's controller by accident. Sorry, I edited my previous post to be clearer. -

Oh yeah, it was a real pleasure meeting you Woz. You've got easily the strongest Litchi I've ever faced (move over, Midnight :P). Hope to see you around more often. You know, you could very easily take the Megabus to Nashville if your parents would be willing to drive you to Knoxville, and the gas prices are INCREDIBLY nice (usually $1 to $3 one-way). The only problem is that you might have to plan around the bus's schedule, and taking the bus at odd times can sometimes be costly. Just keep an eye out for reasonable times/prices, and maybe consider asking someone here if you can spend the night at their place if necessary. Seriously, a single dollar in gas for a 3 hour trip is insane. I'm pretty sure that controller you grabbed belongs to the arcade, but it's totally my fault. I yoinked one from the shelves over by the register so I could use it for Guilty Gear before I realized we had two good ones, having every intention to put it back once I was done. Naturally, that didn't turn out as expected. :P Just get it back to them whenever you get the chance. The arcade had plenty when I checked, so just get it back to them whenever you get the chance and I'm sure there won't be any harm done. Sorry you had to get stuck with that controller though. I noticed how much that analog kinda sucks. Hopefully Star can get YOUR controller back to you soon. And one more thing- you're cool Woz, and we totally <3 you. But you can't replace Lumin. Sorry. :3 Also, holy shit I edited and uploaded all of Soul Calibur in one day. Still need names and whatnot though. -

Haha, all right. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. I've gotta get heading out, like, right now, but I set Soul Calibur to start uploading while I'm out. Descriptions and whatnot will be done when I'm back and not completely and utterly stoned/asleep. -

I need to make a gigantic sign that says "DO NOT TOUCH" and place it in front of my computer when it's recording. I know for a fact I set it to record commentary, and I even came back to check it a few times to make sure things were good before I went to eat. But when I came back from lunch, the Sound Recorder program was shut. If it ain't open, it ain't recording. If it had crashed, I would have been able to recover the audio from my computer's temp files, since I've had to do that before. However, files of that sort were nowhere to be found in the temp folder. So there are three possibilities: someone came over, stopped the recording, and clicked "Cancel" when asked if they wanted to save; someone saved the file in some cryptic location on my computer after naming it whatever the hell they wanted; or for some reason, Sound Recorder crashed and didn't store the audio in the temp folder. I've looked everywhere sensible, and I can't find a thing, so I've (regrettably) deemed it a loss. My apologies to everyone who did and/or wanted commentary on Soul Calibur. No worries, I know how things can come up. As long as we haven't seen the last of you. :] -

Right here. I... Uh... Kinda looked through the whole thing already. >_> Speaking of which, the BB brackets are MIA Milln. I'll be getting my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow, so I'll try to get some uploading done while I'm asleep/high out of my mind. Soul Calibur comes first since it doesn't have any commentary (unfortunately), though I'll definitely need help with determining who's who. I.E. HALP Astaroth. ;-; -

Samurai Kirby Commentary because audio is a hell of a lot smaller than video Shout-outs will come tomorrow when I'm done explaining why FGC news sites failed hard in helping promote MWC. Taking a look at the schedule posted by SRK (which, I'll add, was in an article posted on Saturday morning- the day AFTER the event started) shows no mention of Super Turbo, and incorrectly lists the time of EVERY game on Sunday except for Skullgirls. IPW, instead of listing the games and times in what should have been a simple copy/paste, lazily linked to the SRK forum post about it the day it started. EH did the same thing, except it did so in a weekly event listing a couple days earlier. Seriously, MWC was an EVO qualifier- how could it receive such an absence of publicity? The FGC depends on sites like those to bring them information (and in a timely manner) so they can make it to events like these. The lack of support it received is unacceptable. That isn't to say it was a bad event though. Everything ran perfectly today, and I had a fantastic time. Competition was strong- I was happy to see some new faces. And Guilty Gear. GUILTY GEAR. oh mai gah guilty gear. I'm just saying, it would have been even better if more people had shown up, and I have this lurking suspicion that we would have had a better turnout had FGC-based sites had done their job... Y'know... Letting people know about fighting game events (especially if they're EVO qualifiers, for god's sake) ahead of time. -

GRBPOSKMFCVAWQRE Summer sleep schedules FTL. I'm used to getting to sleep around this time, not waking up at it. :/ Hopefully the fatigue won't catch up to me until after then. Looking forward to seeing you all there~. -

Wow, thanks for bringing this to our attention Astaroth. This thing sounds really cool. I'll be picking one up for sure. I've been waiting for this kind of thing forever. I *will* say that I'm a bit wary of it until I try it, though. I had high hopes for the XCM Adapter (which is actually mentioned by Cronus in one of the comments), but it absolutely sucked for fighting games. It would consistently read a QCF motion as 2266, which for most (if not all) fighting games, didn't amount to anything. There's also the issue of whether it'll work for sticks or not. And I don't know how the fuck they intend to let people use their Wiimotes on 360/PS3. They'll be missing at least two buttons if using both the Wiimote + Nunchuck (LS and RS), and a Right Stick/D-Pad no matter what. That said, the only one of those that would apply to me would be the first one, so I'll be buying one launch day unless pre-launch reviews suck. If any of you guys are on the fence about it, I can let you know my opinion as soon as it comes in. EDIT: I just found out pre-orders are available here for $70 and $80, and that the pre-orders are scheduled to ship out on July 15th. I just went ahead and pre-ordered a $70 one. I really hope this isn't a waste, haha. -

I don't think I've ever seen an argument over the conceptualization of arguments, let alone one that went on for more than a page. But yeah, Milln's right about the Arcana Heart thing. Taken straight from Wikipedia regarding SBO: -

I dunno, there are some things about that list that make me really question its validity. The main thing for me is, unless it's an error on the translator's part, there's no way CSII was being played more than CSEX, and "Guilty Gear Accent Core XX" should be "Guilty Gear XX Accent Core." But then there are things like Virtua Fighter 5 ranking over SSF4AE, and Aquapazza ranking over 3S, which I find incredibly hard to believe. I know Japan is a different place and what's popular there can vary, but still. And on the topic of Aquapazza, I haven't played it, and I had heard people talk it down before I looked into it. But after seriously watching some videos and kind of wanting to like it (I'm a huge fan of the 2D anime fighting genre), what everyone else was saying about it was only validated. It's like if MvC3 only let you have 1 assist character, you couldn't switch out, and it was slow as fuck. IMO, it's very, very boring to watch, and I can only imagine it can't be that much more fun to play. -

I can bring a BBCSEX and a Skullgirls 360. I can't bring KoF because it's still missing, and I can't bring SC5 because I'm assuming the person who took it by accident got it to you, Milln. Likewise, I won't be able to unlock anything for those two games prior to MWC, but if it's only a patch I need, I *might* be able to borrow a friend's copy briefly. Also, how the fuck was BBCSII more popular than BBCSEX? I'm assuming that was just a typo. EDIT: FUCK MY LIFE. AQUAPAZZA RANKED ABOVE 3S, BB, AND GG. -

You're right, Milln. At the end of the day, if I broke enough things and threw out enough random shit, I should be happy with my performance at MWC. Thanks for the uplifting words. :D Nah, that's just the reason I suck at League. Every time I try to Flash out of danger I do an Inferno Divider input instead and wonder why it didn't work. If we show up Saturday, I'll definitely take you up on that. It's kind of up in the air at the moment. None of the guys I'm bringing up would be able to make it Friday in time for KoF, and there isn't anything any of us want to compete in the day after. So if we show up Saturday, it'll just be to hang and for casuals and stuff. -
