Forfeiting the match in Marvel from pausing is reasonable because there's no break between characters. What's the problem? The problem is, none of us want to be put in a shitty situation and feel like we or our opponent got cheated out of a fair match, and in KoF I feel like it's unreasonable to lose the entire game because of a single pause (especially if something came up and the game NEEDED to be paused.) You say the pausing player would receive meter from losing their character as if being REWARDED for it. That's silly. In Blazblue, you technically receive a Burst for losing a Rebel, but you wouldn't say that a player who paused is rewarded with it because the Burst is significantly less of an advantage than winning the round. If for some illogical reason a player felt they would gain some sort of advantage by throwing a round in KoF to give meter to their next character, they would just sandbag. Besides, neither character has to be reduced to 0 HP to determine a winner. If you're that worried about meter playing an unfair role in a situation like this, just have the non-pausing player reduce the other to a point below THEIR current health and let the timer run out. You could even say "using Heavy Punch only" or something like that. It's a little overcomplicated, but it solves the problem if you really think it's that big of a deal. An alternative (while clearly worse) would be to restart the game and let the non-pausing player start with full meter/drive, since there's an option to do that. It's not as easy as "not pausing or dashboarding" though. There ARE situations where pausing is the only way to keep things fair, and it would suck for the person who manned up and paused to be punished for it.

I'll pre-register for Final Round once I figure out what all I'm going to compete in. Blazblue's a given, with KoF and Melty being likely at this point, but I'm not sure if I'll enter UMvC3 or if I'll be interested in SCV.

Agreed, thanks a bunch Milln/Yoshi/KO. I've never had a better New Year's. It was a ton of fun playing KoF with you guys. Even though I sucked, I feel like I came out on top because Yoshi took me to the lab and helped me learn some practical stuff, so special thanks to him. Of course, I had a blast with Extend, too- huge props to Midnight for bringing it out, I feel like some of the most epic moments of the party were had on it. I'm also super hype for the new Melty Blood now. Hope I'm not the only one. On a side note, my lack of competence in expressing myself verbally never ceases to surprise me. But if it weren't for that, none of us would know that Milln doesn't know how he feels about chips in his house. (You had to be there)
