Skim through the combo thread and take a look at the combos there. They're optimal in terms of Heat gain, oki, and damage. Learn the basic stuff and then try to learn the more advanced, multiple 22Cs stuff. Also, be extremely careful as to how you use your meter. Try to use it off stuff with good starting proration such as 5B, 5C, j.C, random Mami or if you wanna trade spots in the corner. You'll do more damage, put yourself in a more favorable position, and gain back most of the Heat. It's not really worth it to tack on a CDT on anything unless you're going for the kill. That heat will come in handy if something goes wrong and you need your opponent off you with a CA. I'm comparing my combo path (Bubble stuff + Bat at the end) to Cirno's (early Bat usage) and I notice that with my path you'll get more damage and more meter but there are times where the damage surpasses my path using Cirno's. That and Cirno's seems to be more practical. Example (Corner) Mine: 5A > 5C > 236B > 66 5C > 2C > 214C > 6C > 22C > 5C > j.D > 5C > 5D > 6A > 6C > j.236C > j.C > 6A > 236B for 3605/52 Cirno: 5A > 5C > 236B > 5C > 5D > 2C > 22C > 5C > j.D > 6C > 22C > 5C > 6A > 236B for 3714/43 If you want meter use the first one, if you want damage use the second one. I'm a meter whore so I'll be using my path. I'll add Cirno's path later on when I'm done. Also Cirno, could you give me a hand with the thread and edit in some bat combos when you have the time? I'd love to add all those alternative combos myself but I seriously need to get through all the other items first. lol I'm not even done with the Bat section yet.

The highest, still practical loop would look like 6C > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C off a 6C FC. @Cirno - I didn't think that 6C would work after j.D in the corner. I'll have to implement it into my combos in the future. @Uri - You're right, I might have to go over some of these combos and find more practical alternatives. Those 5C > j.D > 5C > 5D > 6A > 6C > j.236C > j.C > 6A > Mami combos are a bit tricky.

Man, I can't come up with any good combos using the Bat in the corner from a 5C starter. How about giving me a hand here, Cirno and Uri? My personal best: 5C > 236B > 66 5C > 2C > 214C > *5D (Item Equip) > 6C > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C > 5C > j.D > 5C > 5D > [Combo Finisher 2] (4958/57)

Damn, where did all these match request messages come from? I'm guessing that someone got into my room and played on my PS3, or I was playing split-screen with someone, or something. Apologies to WoZ, Starlight777, Toan, and anyone else who requested a match. I seriously just checked my inbox today and have like a million match requests lol.

lol yeah, I still owe you a set of matches. I've been really busy lately though and my copy of FFXIII-2 just arrived so no BB in a while and if I do play it will be to continue developing the Jin and Platinum combo threads lol.

Weak jump-ins: j.2C has a pretty crappy hit-box overall, j.B takes too long to actually hit the opponent with the lower hit-box, j.C can be crouched under. Hit-stun nerf: j.B and j.C were decent back in the day because they at least gave you an infinite amount of time to confirm. You can't get much out of them unless you're at the optimal distance to confirm. I've had people mash out on my j.B after an IB... Distance dependent combos: the distance at which you hit your opponent will either make or break your combo. You have to be pretty close to the opponent to get Sekkajin to work. You're not getting much out of your pokes unless you burn some meter with 214D. Even when burning meter, you still have to be relatively close to the corner to get some decent damage to make up for the heat loss. He has way too many combo paths and character specific combos, which is just bad character design IMO. 6A is a pretty bad overhead: self-explanatory, -4 on block, barely +1 on hit, horrible range, and can't combo off of it unless you RC. I wouldn't mind for this move to be a little slower if they gave it some more gatlings, specially if you could gatling into 5B. His useful defensive options require meter: Jin has no DP/reversal until he builds 25+ Heat, DP C is out of the question. Too slow, laughable hit-box, and leaves you like a sitting duck on block or whiff. His ground projectiles are damn near useless: pretty much the only projectile that you can use to get in or maintain pressure is TK j.236C or the other aerial Ice Blades. His EX attacks are pretty bad (except for DP D): 236D has way too much start-up, j.236D has way too much recovery, 214D is highly punishable on block and it's not even that fast. They seriously need to come up with a more balanced j.236D; not as good as CT's but not as bad as in every iteration beyond it. He's not a bad character but he's a mess. He's not even a "jack-of-all-trades" now, he's more of like an indecisive college dropout who tried every major trade and couldn't finish any of them.

Updated the combo thread and every single unarmed combo I could think of, I can actually look at that shit now lol. I'm only about 40% done though, the bulk of her combos come from her items

I'm with Rewenger here, your reply to Rewenger calling Tetsu fickle was a bit uncalled for. He didn't mean to say it offensively and even then, how offensive can the word fickle be if it were used that way? lol

I can't say I agree with the "Summary of Defensive Strategy". Blocking is an universal ability within BB (and FGs in general). Leave the universal beginner mode stuff to Xie and his beginner mode tutorials, I'm pretty sure he already covered that. We want this tutorial to center around Jin, the universal beginner mode stuff has already been covered. Remember that "defense" goes well beyond blocking and getting your opponent off of you via CAs. Including a CA section would be acceptable since that one is slightly bit more unique to Jin. When thinking of defense, think jabs/5B against shoddy pressure, anti-airs, low profile moves, DPs, and other reversals. As for the "Summary of Offensive Strategy", you might want to include a mix-up section that also covers resets (part of Jin's mix-up), fuzzy guard setups, and 214A oki/mix-up.

If you have the Pan, the Bat, the Hammer, or Missiles as your next item and you have the meter, then you can get some pretty good damage off of it. Example: 236A FC > 66 5B > 5C > Miracle Jean (Bat) > 66 5C > 5D > 66 j.C > j.D > 66 2C > 236B > 6C > j.236C > j.C > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C > 5C > 6A > 236B I guess I should work on 236A FC combos as most people don't know what to do after them. I should have a few decent combos within the next hour. Here's a meterless combo from mid-screen using 236A FC: 236A FC > 66 5C > 6A > 6C > j.236C > j.C > 66 5C > 236B > 66 6C > j.236C > j.C > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C > [Combo Finisher 1] (4182/48) ... and one for close to the corner and in the corner: 236A FC > 66 5C > 236B > (66) 5C > 2C > 214C > 5D (Item Equip) > 6C > 22C > 6A > 22C > 6A > 6C > 22C > [Combo Finisher 1] (4733/47) I'm glad that Platinum doesn't have like a million variations to each starter just because you're a step or two off the optimal distance like Jin does >_>

I barely got the game and I'm barely installing it to the HDD lol. It's a pretty hype game here in Indy and I'm from the race that is one of the more proficient ones at that series, so why not? lol @ AXIS - said AXIS the dodger, with a posed look.

I did that against someone's Green Burst, didn't Yomi it, he just Bursted at the wrong time. I'm pretty sure he could have punished me had he reacted sooner though lol.
