Speaking of palettes, I added them to the OP so anyone who missed them won't have to dig in this thread (especially given how fast it's moving).
-
Yeah this was just what I was thinking. It'll be useful in scooping up zoners who are attacking from the air.
-
6C is also a fatal.
-
Haha it's fine, but I did notice something cool: We get about 3k midscreen meterless off of a throw. Also whenever I post an interesting combo in video form here, I most likely already added it to the combo thread if anyone wants to see the inputs and such.
-
Yeah that's probably a good idea. I know some of the other characters have them and they were quite helpful. And I'll be watching NEC if that counts. It wasn't quite in my budget but I hear it's gonna be really big this year, so it should be mad fun.
-
I get the feeling that he'll be the least played out of the new characters upon console release, but the good news here is that our community is more active than that of the other characters so we'll be able to share tech and matchup knowledge more readily.

Amane colors #7-16: Looks like #14 is the Litchi palette, but #9 is so mine. Black and pink? So much win.
-
Do we still not know if all the hits of lvl 3 drill are low or not? I want my unblockables.
-
This Amane did very well in the tourney, and it looks like more people are beginning to pick him up. We should hopefully be getting more match vids of him soon!
-
lmao Lumin you need to go back to posting all over the place again so more people can see your sig. I amuse myself with my many "GG is dead" one-liners.
-
Seeing this made me happy. Because apparently he's playing Amane. :3
-
Drill oki is almost guaranteed after a 3C, but yeah outside of that it does come with some risk. However using drills outside of 3C can make the opponent jump, which is exactly where Amane wants them to be for his best combos.
-
As annoying as something like Makoto/Haku using their counters to escape the drill oki, I can see it adding to the metagame quite a bit. They'll more than likely be expecting a drill on wakeup after you score a knockdown and may try to parry, but a slightly delayed drill will get them CH'd for their effort. Of course a delayed drill might give them time to escape, but CH vs. no oki makes for increased risk/reward on both sides, which imo will make things quite interesting. Oh, just that thing you won't have to do if you can keep your opponent out. You shouldn't worry about what it is. I never do. :3

So we have a combo here that uses both OD and CT mid combo. Not to mention it looks like a pretty practical and powerful combo too!
-
And since a 6B FC combo was in question earlier, here's one now! The inputs/heat gain are already in the combo thread, but I couldn't really read the damage so I left it blank. If anyone can read in potato, feel free to give it your best shot.
-
Looks like I have a whole bunch of combos to fix too!
-
More things from the vid: You can combo off C super with lvl 2 drill (still unsure about lvl 1). You can go into an actual combo after drill on hit. Since the drills last so long, it should be easy to react to whether the opponent gets hit or blocks and then follow up with 6D (on block) or a combo (on hit). Of course 6D on hit still might be favorable in some situations if you want the extra drill meter.
-
6B is one of his fatals.
-
Something worth mentioning that I noticed in the Hakumen/Makoto vid- j236C does not cause wallstick in the corner like 236C does, although they end in a similar manner. Nothing too major, but still worth pointing out.
-
Hmm, it's interesting to note that it doesn't build any gauge on whiff when iirc D moves do. Specials that build the meter must have different properties than the drive moves themselves. And Hariken cancels sound mad hype, but I wonder what we can do off of them since the vid that showed it only had Amane going into 3C. But 3C > drill oki would still be nice though, since it sets him up perfectly for some serious chip and pressure.
-
It has so much potential- Make them use all their barrier over the course of the round, trap them with a drill, then CT them and follow up with the best combo off of the best starter possible while they are in danger state for massive damage.
-
Yeah, and you could see Amane moving a fair amount of time before the opponent landed so it indeed does appear to have some combo potential.
-
His C super seems painfully weak unless the damage significantly increases at higher drill levels, which wouldn't make too much sense considering that it's not a drive. Other than that I completely agree that RCs and CAs are probably where most of the meter will be going.
-
Look in the description of the vid I just edited in. It shows the player names. Also his CA uses his 5B animation.
-
Oh I just noticed that's Shadow playing Amane. He's a good player but tends to switch mains a lot, so here's hoping he sticks with Amane! And here's 2B for those still wondering. It looks like it doesn't have the best of range and it doesn't sweep either, but still hits low. More or less your typical 2B.
