DaiAndOh Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 hello new bang player here...i had a question hopefuly someone could answer. i played a very good bang the other day(kicks or sumthin) anyway everytime i went to 2A on his wake up he would 6D then teleport and kick me...now when i try this it doesnt work right and i take to long and get punished...wut am i doing wrong...also sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question...im new Yes it's the wrong place, this is regarding combos. Depending on your question you'd want the guide or the execution thread. I will move it and this post. I presuming this was a Bang ditto. When you try it what happens? Do you autoguard the 2A? Or do you get hit first?
The_Grither_ Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 sorry bout that...anyway i only tried it a few times but each time when im on the ground i would press 6D and A for the teleport but it doesnt even begin the autogaurd...im assuming my timing is off. but will that only work if they attack low? if so doesnt that basically give bang a dragon punch? yea it was a ditto
The_Grither_ Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 sometimes i sit there on the ground and there not attacking and im mashing 6D or 2D but nothing happens i still just lay there...as you can see im not familiar with doing moves on wake up...i still find it hard to do ragnas dp on wake up :/
faultydefense Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 you cant tech pushing drive, you have to push either A B or C to tech what you have to do is neautral tech then, once you've neutral teched you have to input 6D as soon as you recover while not hard, its not as easy as just mashing D while you're down
Justice7541 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 sometimes i sit there on the ground and there not attacking and im mashing 6D or 2D but nothing happens i still just lay there...as you can see im not familiar with doing moves on wake up...i still find it hard to do ragnas dp on wake up :/ Okay, to answer your questions: 1) Yes, Bang's 6D is basically a "safe" wakeup. It blocks mid and low, so if they hit you on wakeup with it you will block and you can teleport if you do. That said, the autoguard window isn't anything like Jin's Gale or Ragna's Inferno; it's about 12 frames IIRC (1/5th of a second) and there's the long startup which is easily stuffed, so while it's sometimes okay as wakeup if you're smart about it, don't rely on it too much. 2) D does not tech for you. You need to press A, B, or C while on the ground to do a ground tech; depending on which direction you hold in the process you will get different kinds of wakeup. Neutral + A/B/C will give you an invulnerable, moderately fast wakeup in place. Forward/back +A/B/C will give you a roll to the side with some invulnerability at the beginning, but with a vulnerable recovery. Down + A/B/C will have you get up very quickly in place, but you have ZERO invulnerability on it. In general, Bang's autoguards aren't very long, so you have to time them right. On top of that, only 6D autoguards from the very beginning, so if you do 5D, 2D, or j.D, they can actually hit you before the autoguard kicks in. Daifunka will work as reversal too, but it's slow and super unsafe, plus it costs meter, so be careful with it.
The_Grither_ Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 thanks much...btw if i have questions about bang is this the place to go? im not trying to post in the wrong thread.
DaiAndOh Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 thanks much...btw if i have questions about bang is this the place to go? im not trying to post in the wrong thread. General questions yes. Non gameplay goes in the lounge, combo discussion in combo thread, execution in that thread, and matchups in that character's specific thing. FuuRinKaZan in it's own thread as well.
WUT Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I've been trying out various bumper setups and I think I've found an interesting one. Instead of the usual bnb ender of 6d, 6239b, bumper set, use a 2369c, v j.d, 2147b/c bumper set. B bumper will give you either an iad into a 2- or 3-dash crossup low option, or an iad j.4c high crossup. C bumper gives you the j.c crossup/feint, and the 3-dash low option. Or you can do what I do whenever I try to use bumpers for oki: iad (b bumper)/ 6-dash (c bumper) into command throw. Costs 2 nails but it gives you a stronger bumper position and more time for oki compared to 6d, bumper set or the 6d, fire punch, bumper set.
AtTheGates Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 added that setup to the combo thread, as well as your latest 4-seal combo, thx.
10stars Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 With CS coming out in a short time, I will be going to CTF to play most likely every saturday. Since i dropped rapetrains in CT and he's getting buffs, i'll have plenty of time on the machine to figure out some new stuff. I'll post as things are figured out and i'll get footage of what i can (Shotty it may be since itll be recorded at the arcade) My question to Diandoh, Atthegates, Wut - and the rest of the community is should i make a single thread for everything I find related to CS, or break it into different threads like we currently have for CT.
WUT Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 While I appreciate the ct information being presented in different threads rather than as one big pile to sift through, I don't think it's necessary to do the same for cs information. Assuming nothing bang receives causes his gameplay to alter drastically, it's pretty safe to keep at least the how to be a hero thread as is. Personally I'd recommend 3 threads: 1- cs changes and info (sticky, closed, and only updated with useful info) 2- cs general discussion (so people can flutter about and we keep info clean and presentable in the other thread) 3- cs combos (sticky. The biggest change that bang is likely to receive comes from new combos. I feel that we can merge bang install and non-bang install combos into one thread.)

I was going to do similar with the following. 1 - CS Changes and info (yup, but I would add combos to it too, as well as videos in here and the video section). 2 - CS questions and general discussion (that way people can still flutter and ask questions as well).

And I'm pretty sure you could follow any roll with it, right? I'll check it out. I've been writing down a lot of bumper setups for each character. This is a good easy one to do for 2 nails.

I was thinking a CS changes and info as well, stickied etc. But not put combos in it, mostly because - I'd like combos to be seperated so everyone can talk in it. I'm fine with putting videos in it, I'll create that thread and reserve two posts, Diandoh feel free to update the first post as you please. I will reserve the second post in the thread for the purpose of videos ONLY. CS Questions and general discussion I like, but i still think we need a seperate - open thread for combos so other players who are jumping on the bangwagon since he's going to be good can talk about this sort of thing. I would intend to keep the CT combos and other threads open until CONSOLE RELEASE FOR CS ONLY. While it is in arcade and many people who arent fortunate enough to have an arcade nearby cant play CS, they can still keep up on CTs happenings. My question now is: WUT - AtTheGates: Are either of you going to be near an arcade that's getting CS? I personally would like to have either one of you create the CS Combos thread and then I would sticky it. I'd rather mess around with FRKZ combos in the arcade, since im still probably going to find one bnb that leaves me at a neutral tech advantage so i can get my rape oki in. So right now: Stickied CS changes / Video thread <- Locked, two posts, one for changes, second post for videos ONLY. Stickied CS combo thread <- Unlocked, available to the masses. This will include FRKZ combos. Stickied CS General discussion / Questions thread <- Unlocked, available to the masses. Answering the same questions over and over again starting 11.20.09
DaiAndOh Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 Fair enough then, thank you for handling this while I'm out with a busy weekend.
10stars Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Fair enough then, thank you for handling this while I'm out with a busy weekend. No worries, its being setup way in advance anyway. Just want it out of the way so when the flood of questions happens at least some stuff is documented in this forum.
Mr. Hammerfist Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Okay, so I just started playing Bang, and every once in a while, I'll throw out a Bumper, and no matter how many times I've tried, I can't use these to my advantage and use them for offense and am forced to use them for retreating and dodging. What am I doing wrong? D:

baberific Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I only use bumpers on characters that have a high retreat factor....such as Nu-13, or characters that have immense seed, such as taokaka...but besides that, I suck using bumpers in general.
Phones01 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 bumpers are a good for mind games, retreat, and approach but it matters on when, where, and how you use them because they can back fire as well if the opponent reads your movements enough.
Black ninja Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 There really is not a good way to use steel rain?
BigLeafyTree Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 You can combo into it off of airthrow now. Corner only? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbZVMtG4uwU#t=8m33s
Justice7541 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 That's for CS. One (very iffy, gimmicky use) I've found for Steel Rain is in the following situation: 1) Opponent has already bursted. 2) Opponent is almost dead. 3) You have 5-6 nails left. 4) You are on opposite sides of the screen. If that works, you can do high j.236D, land, Umbrella and then go in for mixups. If any one of those criteria aren't fulfilled, though, you're better off saving your nails and/or heat.
ShoMeYaMoves Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 You can combo into it off of airthrow now. Corner only? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbZVMtG4uwU#t=8m33s Noel tried to roll; that's why she got hit. Still a good trap though.
Tsuuna Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 On the topic of bumpers, I was playing around in training with bumpers, and in the corner, after a standing grab, one could use the bumper ending up right behind Bang (the B bumper? ) to move back in [3 dash, if memory serves] for a j.D > 2B > X Seems quite nice for a little damage boost on Bang's unadvatageous throw, outside of just a 623B.
