I seem to be going up against Hackumen that throw their C attacks around and when he throws his C attacks around, that sword can cover alot of space and I find it hard to get in on him. His j.C always seems to beat me out no matter what jump attack I use. The only thing going for me is that I haven't ran into any Hakumen that know how to do combos with him.

I have fought a few Hakumen, and the only thing I can suggest is to not rushdown, but have him come to you. He has enough moves to stop your attack from almost any angle. I try to bait him to do a move and then catch him with a bnb combo, or mixups. The throw to 214A works for me, as I can do her super as soon as I land.

Yeah, rushing down is pretty dangerous against Hakumen as he has several options to stuff your attempts. Staying chill is the best thing you can do.

Does anyone know the matchup stat between these 2? some of Noel's Invul Drive startups doesnt work due to his long animation slashes. If ever he comes for you, Each mistake would be crucial since the guy doesnt really hit for a FAIR amount of damage. LOL. I always try to rush him down. predicting the times he would use his counters or what not. There are times whenever we both jump on a close range where I tap the FD button (Sorry guilty gear terminologies LOL) and immediately follow it up with the grab button. if ever he counters, he gets grabbed... and if ever he slashes, its a quick block then grab. The guys beats a lot of my long range pokes as well as my would be startups. I end up pressuring myself when hit by his 3 hit combo XD:gonk:

I tried to be defensive against him but I still have trouble against him. His range is far superior with that sword. The only thing going for me seems to be the startup frames from all his C attacks, but that coupled with the range means that when I try to close the distance, I get beat out.

j.C loses horribly to 6A. If they start trying to jump in and j.D you can see it coming (because the j.C is so huge and obvious) and counter it by waiting or using an air throw. Spacing needs to be right though or he'll go over your head.

Any good Hakumen wouldn't predict his opponent movement but react to and counter it :sweatdrop: ... but if they spam counter... anything goes :toot:

and all Hakumen C has pretty fast startup imo but the recovery time is awful, and if i didn't mistaken, Noel can 3c his 6c

What I meant to say was: if ever he decides to counte, I always make it a point to watch out for it . LOL. I basically rush him down, trying not to give him an opening. quite hard, but I'd rather take him head on than play defensive. You getting close to him is different from him getting close to you. Its scarier that way XD:gonk:

I've found this is a matchup where you really gotta avoid drive moves unless they're guaranteed, and even then stick to shorter combos ( I believe the 6B > 6A loop works though since you bounce him o: ).

You've gotta play a lot of zoning against him, which sucks because he has a great zoning game. But once you're in his face don't let him get away, finish him off asap xD

I just use that strat from that one vid that tells you to j.D right before you land so that you're already in drive. Once you have that going, just do it almost right in front of him ( Just out of his range though) then 214D to get around him, hit him to the other side of the screen and unleash a combo on him. That's how I usually get them at least. Or have them come to you, that works too, as someone else just said.

That can work well but you get punished pretty hard if he sees through it and backdashes/guards/counters/etc... you don't want Hakumen to not be stunned while you're in drive xD

Found something interesting. A lot of Hakumen are IAD jC happy, and a well spaced jC is almost impossible to anti air. However, if you time it right you can 5D right through jC and make him eat a lot of pain.

Hey this matchup brings a question to mind. As far as Hakumen's slashes high slashes, will they trump Noel's 5D( supposably high invul)? I seem to get hit out of it alot by my brother's Hakumen.

Found something interesting.

A lot of Hakumen are IAD jC happy, and a well spaced jC is almost impossible to anti air.

However, if you time it right you can 5D right through jC and make him eat a lot of pain.

Ok where exactly a good range for his jc to be almost impossible to anti air? i fight Hakumen a lot this past few weeks, and he's pretty stressed up with aerial approach since everything got beaten up with Noel 6a and jb

from my experience, hakumen always tries to do 6b when i jump in the air. in order to avoid that, i either do drive or jump again. when he jumps, i jump right after and do C right after so it comes out before he even pushes the button. i also spam 236c when he's far away. whenever he gets in close, i would do 1c 2d and start from there, although ive never beaten him when he is actually serious...

i think 5D only goes through projectiles... from what my bro says XD

IIRC 6b has low hit box, never seen this used for mid air target

wait, i forgot what that shoulder butt combination is, since i dont use him... but its that cheap anti-air >:O

It's his 6A. Be careful about 236C spam, because he can dash in and hit you before you even recover. Also, 5D goes through everything that hits head. It will get hit by projectiles if they are only projectile type and not head invinc.

well, he usually tries to counter it or instant block it. he only dashes in after he does either one of those. thats why i do 236B right after

noel players need to learn to mix up, imo. too much 3C, which is free counter on reaction for me.

Lol. Against Hakumen, I sit there waiting for them to air dash at me. The n00bs come in, eat an air combo, fall to the ground, and repeat until they die. The better ones sit there and wait. Thats when I realize that they have like 5 stars built up because I've been doing nothing :v:
