Halcyone3 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Does anyone know when Noel can 5D to get past Nu's 5D? I've gotten it to work a few times strickly on luck. Lately a lot of Nu's I've been fighting have been doing 5DD 6DD 2147D~C 5DD 6DD against me. IAD after the 2147D works pretty well but a CH 5D into 5D 6C seems to net a lot more damage. So yeah I guess my question here is should I 5D immediately after the TK fient or do I need to wait for her 5D to begin? even if we could tell u the exact frames for it, it wouldnt help much, u can't rly accurately count frames as they pass. When you need to get something like this down, practice is the only solution. In this case it could be a pain, her swords' hitbox is rather long horizontally and the active frames last quite a bit, so the timing can be very strict. Something i do myself is use CA after the 2nd hit of her 5DD. If she does anything like 4D/j.2D/214D/236DC/236D/whatever, you can CH her with 6C for combo (5C is not quick enough in this case), and if she parsers, no combo, but you get out of ur CA before she is out of her parser, u have frame advantage. i assumed you wre talking about CT since i read you mention "nu" btw. And her pressure is 5DD->4DD, not 6DD, if she did 6DD, you could dash up to her and make her hurt, that move's hitbox is not too good vs standing noel, unless its tager or hakumen fighting, nu's better off using 6D as an AA or combo move.
Grendy Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks for the reply, I wasn't looking for exact frame data because honestly I haven't read it was just looking for some timing help. The more I've thought about it though it seems to be a completely spacing dependent thing so even asking for help on that was very vague. I'll have to try using her CA out after the second 5D it sounds like it may be a better use for tension than her air distortion (which does work a lot but is super unsafe for this fight). You were right on the CT guess as well, sadly I don't have a CT cab anywhere around me. Has the fight changed alot for CS? I haven't taken to much time to look into all the character changes and most match videos I've watched have been of Hazama since I really wanna give him a shot when CS hits consoles, although his lack of a run may push me away and back to Noel (who imo has some very sexy looking combos). Thanks again for the reply.
madaxe_munkee Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Unlike alot of other characters, the best defense against Nu is a good defense. Learning how to block those swords of hers makes your life alot easier. Don't get impatient and rush at her if she has you locked down for a while, because most Nus rely on that to get their damage. However, if you think you can read her, then know this: For Nu, her 2 main offensive options have a 50/50 chance of success. 5D.D will fail her if you IAD quicksmart. and 6D will fail if you run, and then 3C. You've gotta be quick. If you miss your chance, you miss your chance and the best thing you can do is sit smart and wait till she gives you another chance. At range, I find it's better to be in the air, since it's more difficult for her to cross you up. Jump cautiously, and keep your barrier block up. Watch out for her sickle storm at range, since she'll try to sweep you. 4D (the overhead) will often get you off guard, esp against a good Nu, so watch out for that. Once you're close, you have to give it all you've got, because if she manages to reset again, then you'll most likely have to deal with another 3 blockstrings before you get another chance. I find that often when Nu tries that backdash of hers, a 3C will still hit her if you're close enough. Do beware though, since we all know how horrible it's recovery is. Nu's C moves will beat out all of your drives, so don't start combos with those. 5A is your friend, 6B as well at the right range, and 3C so long as you know she won't see it coming. Also bursting isn't great unless Nu's in the corner since otherwise, it'll set the game up in Nu's favour again. I wouldn't bother bursting while she's driving you, since it's only really beneficial if it actually hits her. Otherwise she'll just hit you again while you recover. Your best weapon is patience.
Keo-bas Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Thanks Madaxe_munkeee. I was becoming high frustrates with this match up. Their was time during 13's 5c block string that I was able to IB some of her blades and counter with 2a.
Konton Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Nu's C moves don't just "beat drives." They are slow and if she's going to interrupt you, it's not going to be with any C shit. You can 2d over Lambda's 6c and 2c and 5d through 6c and 2c as well. 3c is a worry because it has so many active frames but it's slow anyway so stick to d.5a links and you're somewhat safe. That brings in the DP shit but whatever.
Raptor Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 After playing a ridiculously good Lambda for a few hours, I'm at a loss at what to do against this pile of scrapheap. Almost every round I get at least guard broken once trying to find a hole in her offense. Are the Act Parser moves viable to fish for counterhits with drive? Or should I just do what I did with Nu and RTSD with our now crappy normals?
NoirMorpheus Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I just fought this matchup! It was a level 53 lambda against my level 27 Noel. I tried to dash in but they kept doing her standing C and it always countered my rush in. So I had to just stay on the ground and get lucky with a 5D combo and then get really offensive with 6C and assault throughs. But he caught on and kept blocking assault through and I could never get in again
