TaoFTW Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Sadistic robot is sadistic. This thread is dedicated for strats against the irrational hopeless mecha girl who needs psychological therapy.
XDest Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Drive Cancel B is good to get closer to her safely if you're careful. Past that, I don't know, but you really have to stay on her, and almost never jump at a range. Any ideas?
TaoFTW Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Nu isn't actually a bad match up for Tao. People say, "ZOMG SHE HAS FULL RANGE AND MASHES D ALL DAY! OH NOEZ ITZ HAXORS BAN PLZ!" Put it this way, Nu can launch swords. Tao can launch herself. Get the picture? Whether you triple jump; whether you drive; whether you crawl; your goal is to get close and make Nu feel uncomfortable. Sure she can poke you out of the air with her swords, but barrier guard solves that problem. If you instant block them, then you're free to move about the country. j.4d will also travel over her 5d projectile. Drive cancel b isn't a bad idea either. But if Nu reads you, then you'll take the hit. All in all, there's plenty of ways to close the gap against the silly sadistic robot. While she's close, you just need to look out for her overhead cresent saber and 2c (the swords that block low only). If you IB them instead of barrier guarding, you won't be pushed back - so Nu will just take that opportunity to either back dash or try to force a mix up. If you guess right, then you can punish them.
XDest Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I'm wondering, if you switch between 1 and 3 (low block and crawl), what can she do to you if you guess correctly? It's usually in your best interests not to jump against Nu, so you definitely need other defensive options.
R∀zor Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Not best to jump, but 2D is pretty safe from my personally online testing, given most Nu's aren't that great online. Love how crawl goes under most everything of hers, love Tao in general, she gets around all the scrubby mess so that we don't have to deal with it.
XDest Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 For me right now, the defense goes like this: 3 - evade everything but lows 1 - block the lows D~B - jump the lows and get closer Once it's close, most Nu's will buckle down over Tao's impressive pressure. And as long as you keep on them, it's now a more even match-up. The ultimate trial with Nu is guessing and reacting well enough to get close.
Renz Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 She has that little spinny kick that counts as a high hit and negates all low hits and it has awesome priority and hits you into a very high damaging juggle. How do I fight that move?
Just_here2 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Nu's 4B? It only 2-hit launches when it hits you crouching. Standing you can block the 2nd hit (the launcher), even if you get hit by the first part.
Addfwyn Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I find against her gravity well, if you get caught in one, just go defensive/be ready with a barrier til it wears off. Do not try to D out of it, you'll just float yourself and make yourself an easy target for her drive, you won't make it out of the well. It's nasty for a tao player to get caught in it, as it lets her establish her range, but for some reason players online seem to almost never use it, so you should be safe.
TaoFTW Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 I don't know where you're coming from, but whenever I see the gravity well, I mash j.4d~c -> j.d -> and go into more pressure strings. Tao can easily get out of the gravity with her drives and jumps. The more defensive you're against nu, the more opportunities she will do 50/50 mixups.
Addfwyn Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I find anytime I try to drive out of the gravity well, the Nu is expecting it and starts their air-drive juggle. It takes a couple drives to clear it, and they usually start the sword assault as soon as I run into it. Maybe I'm just having poor luck getting out? I've been trying 2d~c to j.d to get out usually when I don't just block, as they almost always try the 5D sword first.
RageBot Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 How do you usually start the round against Nu? I've found out the my two "best" options are to guard, and to crawl, any other thing i've used (drive, normal etc.) got me punished.
Gooy Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 A good Nu should be starting the match either 3Cing, j.Cing or backdashing. If you cant figure out which one their going with, try crawling. Once in a while when I play Nu I start out with a j.214D, but I don't think that can hit a crawling Tao (although if its close enough to the ground it might?)
MacArthur Blunts Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 214D j.C over the wheel... Crawl under everything else. confirm your D buttons into combos. IB first hit and crawl under her shitty overhead and punish... IB a lot.
RinHara5aki Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Hey TaoFTW, i'll post the match you did earlier, and maybe people will get the picture XD You had amazing tactics.. he just has such freakin rediculous combo's Sadistic is a throwin' lil' asshole... He ALWAYS gets you with that stupid throw :< XD
RinHara5aki Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwWOLX5Pm_c Watch the match guy's, there's alot to learn.
Sileh Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 214D j.C over the wheel... Crawl under everything else. confirm your D buttons into combos. IB first hit and crawl under her shitty overhead and punish... IB a lot. Alright I'm not the best at this game so far, but I can tell you this advice is sound. May I add that when fighting Nu, if you can catch the D spam string early enough, punishing with a 236B is great. I've personally had trouble with the IB technique, as most of her attacks (namely the D techniques) trigger a long block stun. Avoidance by studying her attack patterns would be my strategy, but honestly this fight isn't my cup of tea. Also with the previous poster: The vid's Nu was okay, but her zoning wasn't noteworthy, which is where I believe Nu gains much more control of her fights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWinjtV4KX4 This guy would be a scary matchup.
MacArthur Blunts Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwWOLX5Pm_c Watch the match guy's, there's alot to learn. Better yet watch those like 12 matches of Fio vs. Nu. Was this played online? I hope...
digiwombat Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I just wanted to say this clearly since it seemed to be sort of mentioned in some other posts but I have found it to be absolutely crucial at range. 2D flies over Nu's 2D. And Nu will 2D like the sun is bright, so punish, punish, punish. I know this likely won't be that case forever, but most Nu's I've played mentally set themselves up for D combos when you're at range, so when you're in close, they seem to spend a half second reacting to start their in-close stuff.

ShakunohaChaos Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 im having problems getting around Nu's 5c. when i jump in i block it and then get raped by 2c. its the same way when i dash in whats the best way to attack Nu? cuz just using her drives arent the best way
Desov2 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Personally I just go with 5D right after Nu uses her 5d or 236D since it goes right over her attack and the moves have terrible recovery. I am also pretty cure crawl goes right under Nu 5C which you can then CH with your 3C.

I dont have many problems because once I hit them. I can stay on them like white on rice and she takes damage like a bitch... Although If your playing really good Nu's. This tactic wont work, BUT WHO PLAYS GOOD V-13'S ONLINE?!
TaoFTW Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 im having problems getting around Nu's 5c. when i jump in i block it and then get raped by 2c. its the same way when i dash in whats the best way to attack Nu? cuz just using her drives arent the best way If you time your j.c to hit nu on her head, you will CH her 5c into massive damage. If you're getting owned by 2c, then IB or perfect guard.
XDest Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Here's a couple of risky strats: - If she does an anti-air sword, you can literally guess and run up through the middle for a 6C whiff punish. Although, obviously this loses to her 5D. - If she trys anything that's not an anti-air sword, you can try to time 4D~B to get close, and be at the perfect distance for a 5C CH attempt. Since she'll already be in recovery from a projectile, if timed right you'll be fine. This loses to her anti-air swords. Both are high-risk, high-reward setups.
