smashingme Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Ok, I see that we dont have an anti-Rachel threat. Share your thoughts... Personally I like to rush her down with an 5A and 3C. The only problem is that she's got that electric cat chair counter.
kilgr20 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 My room mate plays Rachael but I'm pretty new to fighting games so some of this info might not be amazing. I've noticed a good way to counter the electric chair is use 2C as it seems to not get hit by her chair (unless I'm just lucky) If you're at about sweep distance and you see her begin to setup her cannon you can easily 3C to take her out and avoid the projectile. Lots of 5A, 2A (pretty much same for everyone) Stick to using the ground for rushing in as her wind won't affect you unless you're in the air.
Desu7x Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 A good Rachel will NOT let you in by any means. That's going to be your biggest issue. IAD Barrier will tend to work better on her than Nu though, since Nu can anti-air combo you from a distance, and Rachel can't. With Rachel you have pretty much 2 goals: 1) Get in and stay there. Rachel doesn't have much in the way of defensive options. She literally has nothing that can beat 5A (3x) dash 5A etc. Her only hope is to IB 2C which, if read, is horribly unsafe on block. 2) Run that bitch to the corner. Like Hakumen and Tager, you can do some insane damage on Rachel in the corner. 22BC loops wind up doing something like 7k damage.
Zeit Kuppler Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 With just like any other character, you have to have a certain mentaility when playing Noel. RUSH THEM DOWN LIKE THEY JUST KILLED YOUR MOTHER AND STOLE YOUR LUNCH MONEY. Noel is a close range character. So you have to breath down their neck the entire match. Never back up except in rare cases and especially with Rachel, she needs the space. So if your breathing down her neck, there goes majority of her approaches. Keep in mind your also one of the fastest characters in the game. Use that to your advantage. Don't let them breath even for a moment. Pressure them and force them to make mistakes, then punish them for it HARD. Up close, 5A is a godly move and its extremely safe. It will literally beat out most moves in the game and if they block it that gives you time to think of what mix ups you want to do. You while their blocking your 5As, you can take your time to think of what they'll do and just beat them out of it.
Binh Mighty Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Mash 5A and mix-up with high and low. -_- Don't open with 3C if the situation if both people dash each other because Rachel's 2A or 5B will beat it. If you ever air combo Rachel and she air tech recovers, watch for her j.2C if she whiffs without using wind shes in for a big combo. For the most part, try to gain momentum and get her corner, all she can really do is block really well or do 2C (really unsafe move without 50% heat)
Zero Kyori Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 The fact that you can't pressure a crouching Rachel with 5B makes me a sad panda.
Luna Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 What is the 22BC loop for Rachel? It looks different from the standard 22C, 6C.
Emerge Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 How do I deal with Rachel while she's in the air? It seems that whenever I finish a combo with j.236C, after she techs, she's in prime position for wind pumpkin/rock stomp/bat cannon shennanigans.
Patchi Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 ehh block? and wait it out i guess. not much you can do about that imo. I usually try to keep rachel players grounded though and lock that shit down if i can. scariest move that rachel has is her fork imo. watch out for those. if they spam that than use 3c if you know its coming. than combo them into the corner for the win xD otherwise you're screwed. maybe thats just me though. : /
Senovit Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 5D goes straight through the fork for a free CH. No need to worry about startup for 3C or how unsafe it is :>
Patchi Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 yep 5d works also haha. what else can you 5d against her btw? is there a move that can stagger besides 5d?
Patchi Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 is rachels 3c punishable if you IB it? I try sometimes and it works sometimes but not sure if its just luck.
hedgeshot Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 What is the 22BC loop for Rachel? It looks different from the standard 22C, 6C. The corner one is something like: 3C, (22BC) x5, 66C, jC, 236C = 6048dmg or 3C, (22BC) x5, 66C, 236236D, 66C, jC = 7852dmg
Patchi Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 in corner vs rachel you can 3c,(22bc)x4,66C,D,B,6B,C,236D for about 6.2k
hedgeshot Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 in corner vs rachel you can 3c,(22bc)x4,66C,D,B,6B,C,236D for about 6.2k I'll give that a try, thanks.
Zakuta Asura Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 3C > [22BC x 5] > 6C(1) > JC > [b-C-236C] 6122
Atiba Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 is 22BC like 22B,B,B,C or more like 22B,B,B,22C? tryin to figure out if you input the 22 again when you get to the C
E For Eugene Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 is 22BC like 22B,B,B,C or more like 22B,B,B,22C? tryin to figure out if you input the 22 again when you get to the C Nope, just input the 22B then C right after.
Atiba Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Nope, just input the 22B then C right after. Ok thk. that's kool...
Grifter Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Trying to get this combo down - you can be far enough to hit the first 22bc and still be too close to connect a 2nd 22bc, right? Seems that way when near point blank but not sure.
Konton Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Noel's j.C trades with (and sometimes beats) Rachel's if spaced correctly.
dragontamer Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 If you ever air combo Rachel and she air tech recovers, watch for her j.2C if she whiffs without using wind shes in for a big combo. Or, just 6A her as she comes down. Head Invunerability for the win!!! yep 5d works also haha. what else can you 5d against her btw? is there a move that can stagger besides 5d? 5D can go through tiny Lobellia. Including the "slide forward", It has more range than Tiny Lobellia A and about the same range as Tiny Lobellia B. 5D does NOT go through the pumpkin or frog however, so be careful if she has those out. It is a bit unsafe. I'm pretty sure most of the D attacks stagger a standing opponent (except 2D and 6D). I think 5C staggers on counterhit. But 5D has massive stagger time.

Which is good because it hits on both sides and if they jumped over you (while you are anticipating this) and try to low poke they it the CH and you get a guaranteed combo into 3C if 5C CH's on a crouching opponent.
| BlackNinja | Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I have found my Rachel matchups to be far easier with j C into Spring Raid. Hitting overhead then knocking up. When she falls back down, you can dash foward into 6C and follow up with whatever combo fits the situation.
