Tiamat Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 how do you use freeman's 236A/C though? it has upper body incinvible? is it to get in on opponents or something? or what? also what is Jae's flame splits move for if anything? kim always had that move and i never knew what the point was lol. Also I somehow did Jenet's 236B break move and broke it and she stopped after the first hit. how do you do that?
Necrosis Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Jae's fire splits is I think 214B/D. I also believe you use it to end some combos, or bait and CH with it since it jumps across the screen and stuff. You can use Freeman's 236A/C to go around some fireballs and such. Good off of a guard cancel as well, sort of like Grant's dash move. Speaking of grant's dash move, holy crap, (CH) 236D 3C 236D is awesome.
Tiamat Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I was wondering what was up with Grant's dash moves cause I saw them blocked a lot in vids and couldn't tell if it was advantage or not but it seems like neither is and the B one actually seems punishable on normal guard. 0_o not to say just cause something is punishable makes it useless or anything so I guess you dunno how to do the B Jenet thing either? my roomate been playing her and it would probably help him since I know that if she does both hits of the 236B break she's disadvantage. 236D break is hella advantage tho
Tiamat Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 yeah pretty sure but I'll have to double check, I thought it was a range thing but I did it a few times and it seemed not to be. I'll have to look into it more soon
Necrosis Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Grant's dash moves are ridiculously bad at high level play because of JD and guard cancels, mostly. Aside from that, at my level, it's ridiculously spammable, because throwing a braked uppercut afterward tends to stuff everything my opponent does on block, but on hit I get free damage/combo. So in summary, they're about even on block I think, if not slight advantage that's so slight Grant literally can't do any moves in that space where there's no gap.
CrimsonDisaster Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 His dash attack is great after a knockdown to build meter, though! ;(
Tiamat Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 i used the recording feature a few days ago and I could punish grant's 236B with his own 2A on normal block. in videos though I don't see it punished a whole lot. the 236D one is safe on normal block though, seems almost neutral when he goes through them.
Necrosis Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Yeah I only really use D, anything B can do D can do better pretty much... Except build meter.
Atiba Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 ok I just got Garou Mark of the Wolves on ps2 does any one know what L1 and L2 does.....?
Tiamat Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 L1 is your break button i think L2 is taunt...I think talk more motw...i played a friend in this last week actually and it was lots of fun. wish my bro would play it with me X(
Atiba Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hey, thanks for the information. I'm glad to find someone who likes this game as well and am hoping that you can help me. I have two questions for you. From reading GameFAQ i found out that the start button is taunt. Has the start button also worked as taunt for you or just L2? Secondly, also from GameFAQ i foiund out that R1 is brake move. Can you please let me know if R1 is also brake move for you or is it just L1? Thanks! Atiba
Tiamat Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 oh sorry, R1 is break button. I forget what the other buttons are XD game is really good and jamieDL still uploads japanese matches to youtube regularly. you can see low tiers win a lot more than you'd think, game balance seems quite good
Keo-bas Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 HI every one ive rarely post here but i feel I should say something in freemans defense. Freeman seems to be pretty solid for me. Admittedly he has a strong learning curve very manageable. Ive been playing freemans for months so I have a reasonable understanding of him. IF anything he has to be play defensively with good mix ups for mind game. He's lacking in combos but his damage out put is very rewarding( IMO). Like anti air situations. 623 a/c command works rather well against anticipated jumps. Also because of freemans quick dash, i can usually whiffs my opponents jumps by getting under them. freeman can dunk most projectiles with his 236 a/c. ( i think his 2 feint works also) Though I'm still developing My only real bad match ups are against dong since and his sick command priority, Grants superb range, and kevins just too flexible to fight properly against.
CrimsonDisaster Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Freeman's damage is okay but he's no Terry or Grant or even like Kain or whatever. Still, c.B XX super isn't too bad. Anybody else playing this game on GGPO yet? Also to answer the question about using Jae's 214K, it's okay as a GC since it's a bit faster than his other GC options (other than flashkick if you can do JD~GC flashkick). Other than that, you want to end combos with 236D or 236A/C... or super if you have it.
CrimsonDisaster Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Jae combos can be fun. s.A/c.A/c.B, c.C XX QCF+D/QCFx2+K s.A/c.A/c.B > c.B XX QCFx2+K close C/D(1 hit) XX d+AB, c.C XX QCF+D/QCFx2+K hop A, charge d,u+K > brake, QCFx2+K close C/D(1 hit) XX d+AB, close C/D(1 hit) XX d+AB, c.D backdash+B, QCFx2+K corner, backdash+B, charge d,u+K corner, whatever from above into QCFx2+A, QCFx2+B etc. etc. Easy and you can get good damage without meter. In response to an old post... Tizoc can d+AB (PECK) to anti-air pretty well. Takes a bit of timing against hops, though.
Tiamat Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 i still been playin this game off and on freeman damage is about as average as it gets. also i am embarrassed to say this but i cannot for the life of me do 2B5A super. i can never cancel the 5A for some reason.
Keo-bas Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Does mame32k kailera support some kind of easy command button? I swear I was playing this rock and he kept doing rising tackle back to back. He was doing so fast that it always skip the landing animation. It out prioritize every counter. The connection was bad and lagging and yet he just def all my attacks. And the heck with rocks stupid crossover? I couldn't hit him at all.
Tiamat Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 i have no idea, i haven't played online. it is possible to do two rising tackle in one combo but has to be after command grab im pretty sure
Keo-bas Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Ok now i fee like dropping this game. Its absurd how simply over prioritize commands are. I play a poke style with freeman and its worthless against this play style. you can your opponents all you want but it wont do any good. Meta games cant even be implemented. This games so heavily on just defend that its mandatory for every play style. I cant figure how to deal with such people. Every thing I co to counter only involves a backfire counter. Even upon successful just defends, no counter were quick enough or high priority to beat the other characters. This one player name Mr. Blonde rape me excessfully. Now I know im going to be flam for this since I'm sound like a noob but this seriously stupid how this game physics out right breaks competition with safe commands and zero recovery jump in frame.
CrimsonDisaster Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Uhhhhhhh you just aren't playing well, seriously. I play a fairly patient style and I do fine.
purify Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Some of your concerns also may be due to playing in lag. I mean, Greed Sever in XBL #R was so ridiculously Stacked Potato Chips that I really didn't need another move. Or even combos.
Tiamat Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 You just have to figure out what your options are and be patient. just because you can't figure out how to deal with something, doesn't mean there isn't a way to deal with it. it just means you didn't figure it out yet and/or you should get help from someone more experienced
CrimsonDisaster Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Some of your concerns also may be due to playing in lag. I mean, Greed Sever in XBL #R was so ridiculously Stacked Potato Chips that I really didn't need another move. Or even combos. Greed Sever IS a combo if you keep doing it over and over in lag.
