Kuroshi Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Okay so I got a deal going with the manager. Remember how we originally had that month pass thing going for the old "combo breaker" things Min ran? Why not just do that again when people show up for a Friday weekly. Ex, show up for the night, get a meal, get a month pass, just for entering the actual backroom? I'm not sure who all is opposed to or against the idea.
Eshi Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Paul, you should undo whatever voodoo magic you did to keep the stream on the front page of SRK. It's still listed for today =P Also, I'm never going home without my stick again. I'm terribly bored.I went home with it but have to play on a tv with a quarter second of screen lag. Shit sucks. I can still experiment with different tactics but practicing combos is impossible. Also, I have just discovered the most amazing dubstep artist I've ever heard in my life, Eskmo. It's just enough not like dubstep for Paul to like it, so creative and ethereal and no annoying bass wobble. Edited November 26, 2010 by Eshi
TheGreatReptar Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I've just been practicing Guilty Gear on my PSP. I decided to pick up Ky on the flight home.
TheSlyMoogle Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ky is a baller. Don't let anyone tell you different. Also he's best played drunk as fuck. That's how I learned to play his fat ass.
Jewdo Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ky is deceptively good in the same way as Ryu - his strong fundamentals are deadly in the right hands and are mistaken for "simplicity" by weaker players. Some beastly Ky-main won an A-cho Ranking Battle earlier this semester, running trains on just about everyone. Holy Orders rules too. I've been toying with Eddie over the weekend, but I'm leaving the games at home until Finals are over. I'll be super bored over winter break, so I can use the three weeks to unleash the beast.
Isuyaru Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I just found out that I can't make it to NEC due to one of my class's schedules changing; now I have yet another test on Friday, which I won't be able to take on a different date.

FunkyP Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Yeah looks like NEC aint happening anymore, the whole point was to bring GA's best up north and not even SF4 crew is doing that either so this might be a bust. Also sharing car/room bill with so few people is not too great. I had my budget planned for splitting with at least 5 ppl, but now i probably wont be able to afford the difference now. Is a shame, at least i dont have to play BB for till the patch comes out and can play more GT5 instead.

Is a shame, at least i dont have to play BB for till the patch comes out and can play more GT5 instead. I'll be playing less BB as well this time. I want to focus on my SSFIV game for a bit. Might try to get something going at my place again sometime in the next week or so, I'll keep you guys posted. How's GT5 treatin' ya, btw? Is it everything you hoped? :P
FunkyP Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I'm very impressed with GT5's new interface and menu's. They're so stylish all websites should look like this from now on. They've also implemented a linear progression system that limits what you can do in the game so you can't cheat using OP cars anymore. Its basically a big racing RPG, but moreso this time around. You have to gain exp. to level so its requiring more time investment than before so thats why I'm playing it so much. Also in game you can hire drivers to grind out races without you racing and you can earn the rewards they win, but now they've separated driver xp from your own so now you have to dedicate more time for individual drivers to level up. So sometimes I'll be online playing GT5, but i wont actually be at the PS3. They havent added online remote drivers yet so I'm waiting for that. When that happens i can still play GT5 while I'm away from the PS3 say at school or Tech or Tim's.
TheSlyMoogle Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Wow that's nerdy as fuck for a racing game. Still it's a racing game. NEC: The next bummed out thing I was gonna say was that the special rate for NEC was booked up, and the closest hotel I could find was like 10 miles away. Which wouldn't have been so bad. Realistically though, I can't afford to spend that much cash on NEC as bad as I wanted to do so. With only 3 of us that would put gas at like 55 a person, hotel at like 60 a person not to mention NEC cost and food. Shit just aint happenin. Plus my car has an oil leak somewhere so I have to get that fixed. So that will probably be like 3-500. Fuck mercedes benz. Even the old ones are hella expensive to fix. DERP.
TheGreatReptar Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) So, Georgia Tech is hosting Gamefest this weekend, so in addition to the usual Friday meet, I'm going to be attending it as well, and I'm going to try hosting a side tournament for Blazblue and maybe Super 4. I've emailed the Gamefest people to make sure it's alright to host it, so I'll keep everyone posted on that. Tentative event: GT Gamefest Blazblue and Super 4 tournaments: Where: Georgia Tech Klaus building (where we meet up every Friday) When: December 4th at 6pm is when Gamefest begins. I'll probably leave tournament registration open until 8pm. Tournament starting at 8:30ish. Door fee: none, unless you want to enter other Gamefest tournaments, in which case it's 5$ for entrance to all Gamefest tournaments. Tournament fee: 1$. This is for high rollers only. Other tournaments here: http://www.gtgamefest.com/events.php I would imagine everyone who isn't a student will have problems playing in PC game tournaments... Once again, this is tentative until I hear back that A) I can host a tournament and B) Non-Tech students can attend. Just posting here already to see who would be up for this. TheGreatReptar Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Ok, I originally got a really vague answer, but from my understanding, they don't care. They just said Gamefest won't help fund the tournament or help with any prizes, which is already taken care of by the 1$ entry. Also, Buzzcards aren't checked, so non-students can show up. Just remember, if you want to play in a PC tournament, you'll have to get one of us to log you into the school's internet. I'm going to use an online bracket generator, so if you want to use my laptop for streaming if you make it Paul, it will be available if you bring your netbook so I can use that to keep track of the bracket and people.
Eshi Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'll definitely make it to gamefest. I'm a bit bummed out about NEC but I've faced the facts and even if nothing had changed, I'm in no position to take off 4 days of school when I have three projects due next Tuesday. Next time I'll just get a stand-by flight - much easier and faster and not too expensive that way. I'm playing BB more than ever now though, Peter bought a new router which drastically improved my internet connection so I can actually get decent match-up experience online. I'm much weaker than I thought against Ragna.
Eshi Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Did you get a name change? yeah, I asked spirit juice a while ago but he probably missed it, then remembered to ask shtkn after reading the premium membership thread. gotta get it in while it's still free :o Since you're here, how the hell do you manage to travel to tournaments so often?
ZONG_one Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I stay in SoCal really. NEC will only be my 2nd out of state tourney.

TheGreatReptar Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 That works too Tim. Didn't know what that one was called, and that it was free =P

TheGreatReptar Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hmm...Lucky for me, I have to stay on campus until the 19th so I can move to my dorm for next semester. I'll just have to find a ride I suppose.
