DarkChildOfLight Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi I'm sorry if this topic is already somewhere but I could not find it. I have practiced his Astral Finish a few times in training mode and I know it can be done in the air aswell. So far I have seen about 4 different versions of it come out. Does the computer choose which one at random or can it be controlled? Also how can it be blocked?
AdamNW Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 As far as I know, there is one for each action he's doing during (Either on the ground, in the air, or air dashing): A) He goes straight left and right. (Standing) B) He goes straight up and down. (Air) C) He does an arc motion. (Air Dash) My little brother has blocked it successfully by simply blocking. I haven't a clue how he managed that.
PhantomX Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 That's b/c the Astral Finish is entirely blockable (though it instant guard breaks). Basically, our Astral Finish sucks unless we combo them into it with bugs. Pretty sure this doesn't deserve it's own thread though.
Skye Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Setups precurse: Standard Left to Right/Right to Left Astral, if they back themselves into the corner of the stage, they're fucked unless they Barrier Block it, if they do not Barrier, their guard will break, and leave them vulnerable for when you show up on the other side. Setups post curse: Lock them down with D bug, then do whatever you want. Astrals are more *spur of the moment having fun with friends* than it is *serious viable strategies*. I firmly believe that you can make better use of 100% heat in any situation, and since your opponent's HP is that low, there really isn't any reason to use and Astral over anything else unless you're just trying 'juz cuz'. For the record, his Astrals are blockable every which way, but it destroys whatever guarding stance you have, if they didn't burst, they can easily get by it by barrier blocking the first hit, and normal blocking the second--only under specific circumstances can a possible 3rd hit get them.
Mr. Hammerfist Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Isn't Arakune's Atral Finish the worst in the game? That's what I've heard from people.
Abstract Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Isn't Arakune's Atral Finish the worst in the game? That's what I've heard from people. Even if it wasn't the worst, he has so many options that are so much better than astral, that it'd be pretty much useless anyways.
PhantomLight Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Isn't Arakune's Atral Finish the worst in the game? That's what I've heard from people. Without curse or cloak, yeah it's the easiest to avoid. When the opponent is cursed it makes it much more dangerous to get caught in. If he's cloaked at the time you do it AND the opponent is cursed, it pretty much makes it the most powerful astral in the game. So, in a sense, it's both the worst, and the best, depending on the situation. I think. :8/:
Dacidbro Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Worst in all real circumstances, best if you already won
Mordecai415 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 His astral is pretty ridiculous, and not really worth the time or worth putting in any kind of serious strategic game play.. unless it's a player match just for fun.
kousaka Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 the astral does have one use.. in a timeout situation arakune's astral will stop the clock for the duration of the astral... although you'd be pretty lucky to kill him with the astral, if you have curse going in it's better then nothing.. if you cloud or go invisible first it carries over into the astral so technically you can go into curse during astral with the cloud for arakune mirrors.. you can make arakune eat clouds as they're bouncing around so that they'll be cursed as they come out
SynapticTrigger Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Can you do his astral finish in ranked matches online for CT? I can do it every time I put in the command for it in training but I've tried it at least 10 times online with 3rd round, 100% heat and the opponent's hp super low and it won't work, even when I get the opportunity to input the command about 5 times in a game.
Zeromus_X Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Only in Player Match rooms that have Astrals enabled.
SynapticTrigger Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Well I've had Ragna's astral finish done on me in a ranked match before. Why would his work and not Arakune's?
FormerlyUnknown Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 in the original arcade game only four characters had astrals (ragna, rachel, hakumen, nu) which were available for use. when moved to consoles they gave the rest of the cast unlockable astrals, while giveing those four their unlimited forms. They didn't change having those fours astrals available and thus they are the only ones available on ranked
SynapticTrigger Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Ah that makes sense, thanks. Now that you mention it, I have been hit by Rachel's too. Guess I lost 10 games trying to do it for nothing.
AdamNW Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 What are you guys talking about, the worst one is clearly Carl's :\
ZONG_one Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 What are you guys talking about, the worst one is clearly Carl's :\ There is one viable set up. Also, you can kill off of green burst in CS. EDIT- Not saying I disagree though. It pretty much is awful.
Coopadaddy Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 So has anyone else noticed, that it seems that what astral comes out is random in CS? It seems that it doesn't matter if I am standing, in the air, or air dashing, its always a random astral? Maybe its just me...
LordSpectreX Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I believe it is. Which is annoying. Because at least the one where he zooms through the screen twice is pretty good. The other two types are poor. But hey, at least you can combo into Astral from a Wheel Loop as long as it's the good type of Astral. Not to mention that it's hilarious in CS. Arakune: GALAX HELIX *hits* Theme Plays.
