Toasty Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Is there a way to mod a stick so it will work on 360, ps3, and ps2? Or can it only work on two consoles if modded?

MC Cthulhu + IMP + [any common ground 360 PCB - the TE's works] You'll have to solder, and the RJ45 (detachable cables) mod is preferable. However, you'll get PS1/2/3, Xbox, 360, NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, TG16, 3DO, Gamecube, and a few other supported consoles

Is it the same for both it and the TE?
ChefExcellence Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 How different is the fightpads for consoles compared to an actual arcade. I've never used a fight stick, and recently tried the arcade cabinet version and I did horribly. I couldn't do Hazma's BnB combo, and barely got one of Ragna's. I'm seeing some pretty positive reviews for fightsticks, so that's why I wanted to know.
Toasty Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 So I found out that Hori sticks (like mine, the HRAP EX-SE) on the 360 generally don't have common ground PCBs. How would I be able to dual mod it then? Also idk if there is an octo gate compatible with the Seimitsu LS-32, but if there is, which one is it, and if there isn't, could I make adjustments to another one (or could I just take off the square gate altogether and just let it use the natural circle of the mounting plate)?

If it was a bat-top and used concave buttons, then you used an American arcade stick (generally Happ or IL Suzo) If it was ball-top with convex buttons, then it was a Japanese arcade stick (generally Sanwa or Seimistsu) MadCatz Fight Stick Tournament Edition uses a Japanese layout with full Japanese parts for the buttons and stick. It takes a while for someone to go from a console pad to a stick, it's normal for players who really haven't played it in the arcades before, or on an arcade stick in general. All I can say is to get used to it, play on it more, and practice, practice, practice. So I found out that Hori sticks (like mine, the HRAP EX-SE) on the 360 generally don't have common ground PCBs. It's probably best to ask about the dual-modding in the SRK.com - The Official Cthulhu and ChImp thread and ask Toodles about your HRAP EX-SE. As for the LS-32, IIRC, if you have both the blue gate and the greenish gate, but the blue gate on the bottom and put the green square gate on top, it should work. I'll see about it.

Turns out it's the same style as a Madcatz fightstick, since it has the Japanese layout. As for currently practicing, I'm getting better at using it at arcades. I can't get Hazama to 4D properly to do an air combo, but I can get Ragna to do his BnBs. I also won 4/4 matches (But I think they just used the arcade stick as well, so they weren't as skilled in using it. They also could have just started.) I need to do more matches in life, since lag always gets the best of me.
natearistata Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 For a specific question: I just switched to stick a few days ago. I'm having the usual issues that are to be expected, but one is far more prevalent. I'm having a very hard time getting 623 motions out after doing a 2something move (for Tager, 2C>623C specifically). Anywhere else, from 5 or 6 I get it out no problem (except on the 2P side, but that's just something I need to get used to). Wondering if there was anything special anyone might know about that specific problem, or if I just gotta practice.
sakabato24 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 @ natearistata : Just practice, you can't get everything down 100% when you start on a stick. Even though BB:CS is lenient in it's command outputs, it's not SSFIV lenient. I training mode, there should be an option to see your movement when playing. Watch what you are doing when you are trying to get a 2C>623C, and you can get a better understanding of what you are doing when you are playing on your stick.

You'll have to get a fightpad/madcatz 4716 controller/TE/SE circuit board and use that or any common ground 360 pad. You'll have to rip out its guts, put in your cthulhu and wire it up like that. Also you don't really need an MCthulhu if you want ps2 support, just rip out the guts of a PSX controller (which is common ground) and link the same signals onto the board of the PSX. Well just read www.slagcoin.com Learned all i needed to know about modding and such from there and SRK

I find if I hold the 2c in 1 position then I can get to the 6 position a lot quicker without crossing over the 3 position. I donno if this is beneficial or just a bad habit though.
natearistata Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I should probably do that anyway, since for the moment I'm having problems getting 3C instead of 2C right now. And I checked out inputs, I tend to get 633 instead of 623. Blah, so hate this starting over crap. Edit: thanks for the advice!
prokiller88 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Uhh, this is a super noob question but... is the ball top suppose to spin on a sitck?
Aftermath1349 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 i find doing IADs hard Not sure of the method your using but a very easy way to IAD is when grounded, put the stick into the 9 position. This registers as a forward and a jump, then immediately hit dash. So 9>66.
FlyingVe Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 New fightstick sale. if price has been keeping you from making he switch, this might be worth a look. http://shoryuken.com/content/9-9-9-14-mad-catz-sale-20-30-fightsticks-100-f-s-round-2-te-1708/

Yoshara Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Lizard Lick has what you are looking for, and from what I have heard it is one of the better places to order parts from. http://www.lizardlick.com/Sanwa-OBSF-30-30mm-Pushbutton-Pink_p_361.html
A.X.I.S. Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 awesome and thanks. is there a site for modifying my stick art, I am a bit strapped on time.

Vicious176 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 My first point is it really depends on the game, I played DOA4 on controller since launch. When I bought my EX2 Pro, it was a lot more challenging using 3 buttons compared to a whole controller, for some reason it is a lot more hard to play aggressively in a moderately paced game like DOA than the lightening fast gameplay of BB which is odd. But now moving on to blazblue, which i what I ordered the arcade stick for, not only for a classical feel but for a challange itself. But now that's out of the way im having a problem with my arcadestick. The joystick itself doesn't feel clicky enough, which i may mod or possibly change the buttons as well. My main problem is the box set up, which has a 1379 feel so doing circles and quarter circles feels a little clunky. My main problem is dash canceling. A quick down-up on a d-pad is two simple clicks, for a stick from down to up is a good inch. This is the same as dash canceling, this might also be a problem with my frame timing. I've been practicing a lot, but I can't play as aggresive (character permitting) as I can with controller. Since I started using a stick, I just cant go back to the controller, it doesnt feel right anymore and I make pitiful mistakes with it. I may be better at controller 60% of the time, I just with that soon my stick will be like a second hand to me. Down side is after playing for hours it I hurts like hell.... im going to get carpal tunnel. Wish me luck guys. I
Heroic_Legacy Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 You can't play as aggresive because you are using something relatively unknown to you in a competitive environment. I know people who are pad players, that can do combos on stick, but in game they have no semblance of footsies or barrier guard or anything essential. You just need to get used to stick. It takes a few months or even years to get perfectly synchronized with an arcade stick. I'm one of the lucky few I grew up on arcade stick since I had an arcade within walking distance. So there was never any transition from pad to stick, it was just "Alright, time to start using stick to play games." *Shrug* Depends on the person.
