Star-Demon Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 S+ Zappa S Faust, Chipp, Kliff, Millia A+ Dizzy, Axl, Jam, Eddie, Order Sol, I-no A Venom, Robo Ky, Johnny, Slayer, Anji, Ky B+ Sol, Bridget, A.B.A, Baiken, Potemkin, Testament, May B Justice OH HERE WE GO Actually, This doesn't mean much. I caught a tweet about an arcade patch coming down the pipe. When you guys say active frames, does this mean it can connect and still be active, and I can SB? or do hitboxes delete on hit?
Hecatom Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 S Chipp The thought of Chipp being S tier fills me with joy B Testament TBH, IMO from what i have seen so far Testament doesn't look "weak", so his placement on B tier looks odd to me and yes, i know that is a really early on the life time tier list, so we should not put to much mind to it, i am just venting some thoughts :P BTW, i like that it seems that AC+R i considered well balanced since the tier list only goes from S to B
GreasyGyro718 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 besides the buff to the sword, what else does Zappa have that makes him S+?
Circuitous Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Centipedes are better, faster Raou summons, blah blah. Check his board if you want details. When you guys say active frames, does this mean it can connect and still be active, and I can SB? or do hitboxes delete on hit? Wh-... what? Active frames are the frames during which an attack can hit you. You need to input slashback (4SH) within two frames of the first frame that would hit you. In the case of ABA's 2H, what you're doing is blocking the first part, then anticipating when the second part will hit you, and inputting slashback just before that happens. After a while you'll be able to recognize the gap between the two hits and the timing will come naturally to you.

phantomBlade Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 He got his dog unblockable bite taken out.
MikeMcSomething Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Anyone else having problems downloading the new one from JP PSN? I'm getting an error message with the only option to go 'back' - got the yen in the acct and everything.
drzero7 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Wow, that tier list... (I know a patch is coming up but still.) First time in HISTORY that Zappa and Chipp got S tiers, lol. Also, Sol and Slayer being that low in tier list is also a first IMO. And Testament went back being low med tier again like every other version of Testament.
Destin Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 besides the buff to the sword, what else does Zappa have that makes him S+? Have you seen what he can do with the sword now? Full screen, 1/3 health safe 50/50 instant high low mixups for 25% meter and a bunch of orbs gained? And he can do two in the string. From full screen. It's, shocking really.
RoBoBOBR Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) drzero7 - Zappa is S in AC vanilla according to latest tier list, SL was mid tier in Slash. I haven't seen a newer 21 on 21 or anything similar in a long time =/. Well, AC+R tourneys got streamed every TUE,THU and SAT at Mikado. Some others arcades put their tournaments video at nicovideo. If you want AC so badly, there was 3 big japanese AC tourney. Sekai Saikyou Ketteisen The Last Battle (can find it here) And tournament at A-cho Edited November 27, 2012 by Horokei
axel Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Zappa was top by the end of the game? Odd. Probably skewed due to Mitsurugi beasting in 2011.
Mitsurugi Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) RoBoBOBR and Horokei, thanks for the updated tier-list and the links ! Axel, that may be true but what about Satou then ? He was also beasting in 2011-2012 but it did not seem to change Johnny's rank in the latest tier-list. On a side note, a friend of mine living in Japan also said last year that the Japanese players were all about Zappa being in the top, becoming very popular but he didn't know why. There might be some more reasons than just Mitsurugi's impressive and continuous performance with him, maybe improved techniques and stuff unknown to non-Japanese. Well, those can be linked too, very advanced stuff displayed for the first time by him then it becoming common knowledge for Zappa's players. Edited November 28, 2012 by Mitsurugi
SynikaL Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Has there been any mention of EX character balancing in +R? I find the idea of having gameplay twists on the established characters very interesting. Is it even still worth banning them? Considering there's no arcade scene worth considering outside Japan, I don't see why the EX characters should remain banned. This has probably been debated to death, I'm sure. Do we still not have a time frame for the update?
SynikaL Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 We ban them because they aren't balanced. In relation to who/what, though? Is there an ST Akuma style S-tier EX character? Are there game-breaking glitches? Are there infinites? How much testing has been actually done? Have EX characters been tournament tested with a large enough sample size to come to any reasonable conclusions about EX character balance? I can't help but think that they've simply been dismissed completely due to being console specific and wanting to keep 1:1 parity with the Japanese tournament scene, which isn't a compelling enough reason for them to be banned.

We have not done the testing, but I don't believe the team has attempted to balance them for tournament play. When they do, you have complete reworks like on Kliff and Justice to make them somewhat reasonable in the framework of the game.

No doubt Satou was a top class Johnny, but he was mainly beasting on the mid tier players in Mikado and had to work really hard for his wins over the top class players like FAB. Mitsurugi, on the other hand, was literally steamrolling most of the time, kinda reminds me of #R era Ogawa. In terms of SBO performance, Mitsurugi and Chonari had shown that Zappa can really wreak havoc in the right hand, while Satou's impressive performance is mainly contained in Mikado. It feels weird discussing about Japan's Mitsurugi with Dustloop's Mitsurugi!

Do we still not have a time frame for the update? this is one of the games with a scene that still exists from the everything has to be arcade perfect era i figured most other people here didn't bother picking them because they weren't in the arcade version and yeah i don't think there has been enough balance testing done on them either, but i really don't think everyone wants to learn 23 new matchups considering most people don't even have regular exposure to most of the cast in the first place edit: also EX chars is a console only thing so we wouldn't even hear anything about that until the console patch for +R is announced anyway
