My brand new stick! Behold the knockoff fightan stick! Notice how I even haven't bothered to remove the sticker price tag! :eng101:

The guts are the standard Sanwa JLF with octagon restrictor plate, standard Sanwa 30mm buttons. I finished this stick mod a week ago, using some crap stick my dad got from an ebay lot purchase, and the board from another stick I had laying around. Took a bit of dremel'ing to get the button holes wide enough and to remove the extra plastic that the original buttons used as anchor points. It may look ghetto and beat up, but I like it that way.

I did manage to switch the top and bottom row of buttons when I was wiring the sucker, but I didn't care enough to fix it cause I'd be reprogramming the buttons anyway in gg.

I used to have the parts in this case. But the button layout was a little funky, and the angle of the top made it a little hard to play with it in my lap. Plus it was also larger than I would have wanted. Was only 10 bucks, though, and things did fit nicely in it. Plus it was wireless with no lag (or none that I noticed anyway).

More image comparisons.

Also, it had a stone block in it for added weight which I didn't really need, but I always find it interesting that companies put it in sticks to make them feel heavier.

Those things are mega cheapo sticks and probably the PCB is damaged, the cord is damaged, some buttons are damaged, or a combination of those. The good news is those are easy to mod, so you'll want to swap out the guts for some real Sanwa/Seimitsu parts and whatever PCB you want to throw in there.

Oh, any PCB i want?

EDIT again:

It looks to me like I can just trash the stock button board on this stick and install some sanwa buttons, since it seems they wire directly to the PCB.

The stock joystick is a 4-directional, it looks like, and it works fine; do you guys think I ought to replace it anyway?

I found a thread elsewhere by another person who modded this stick, and he replaced it with a sanwa: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=22837&sid=943c650cb3c0262b232914857851e789

id replace everything if you can, playin on the real deal stuff is soooo much better EDIT: anyone ever replace artwork on a HRAP? im plannin to do so for my upcoming HRAP EX and rather get advice here then thumb thru 50 pages of SRK threads to find an answer in particular, i heard you can just go to somewhere like a kinkos, and they can laminate... then just spray adhesive it? sounds simple enough, just wonderin if im missin anything

hmmm see i dunno where to get somethin like that though lol so im kinda goin with things ive heard i can may-be apply to places i know i got some time to figure it out..... doesnt arrive until early jan, so im still touchin up my artwork on it

So yeah... getting a stick and all. With the HRAP3 being not useful to AC without PCB rewiring, and the HRAP2 being sold out almost everywhere, is there anywhere that still has some good retail sticks around? I heard there was barely any difference between 1/2 for the HRAP, so would that be ok for a starting stick?

haha, man i cant believe someone else modded the fighter's choice stick, i thought i was the only one

That first link appears to be the first HRAP if I am not mistaken. :I:

Not that I would know any fundamental differences between the first two anyways.

Insignificant differences really...it's just the spacing of the buttons that's all.

I`m planning to buy a hrap3 stick. This is my first stick, and i wanna hear what do you guys think about it. Is it any good? I read somewhere that the hori buttons are not so good, and alot of people swap them with sanwa. Does it really matter for me since it`s my first stick? I will swap them too, but i`m planning to do that after the hori buttons die or something. Do you recommend any other mods for this stick? octagonal gate? I wanted to buy a hrap3:SA from akihabarashop but unfortunately my country is not supported by Paypal.

HRAP3? You're gonna play GG on your PS3? Tell me what games you plan on to use the HRAP on it and which console will it be on.

Switching buttons is only necessary if like the buttons die or something, according to the arcade expert there is no need to mod the hori, since it's a very very solid stick, only until it breaks down.

Well i thought using it mainly for GG on ps3 and pc (i have read that it supports pc too), VF5 sometimes, and blazblue when it comes out for the consoles. That`s it i think.

GG on PC is reload, and playing GG on PS3 causes 3 frames of lag. My advice is to get this:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-77-4-49-en-15-hori+real+arcade-70-2sxy.html

And this lagless converter for ps3 which also works on pc:

And you're set.

The FightStick Tournament is a better buy.

And guys look at this I didn't know amazon stock it:

http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-Real-Arcade-Fighting-Stick-3/dp/B001GDQRZM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1231724608&sr=8-1

Cheaper than play-asias, and you'll save loads on shipping.

I am not interested in playing too many fighters other than guilty gear and I found this one stick made by arc systems and sammy especially for GG. Is this stick ok for a beginner or is it complete trash. Maybe I am being a bit cheap.. heh.

stick: Sammy Guilty Gear XX Stick (PS2)
