Everything I've been told says PS2 games played on PS3 will lag no matter what, even running at 480i. The 'ideal' solution at this point is a Dual PS2/360 stick since PS2>PS3 converters are fine and not too hard to get.

The only thing that blows about making a stick that uses two different connections (IE: USB and the PS2 connector) is that unless you want the cables from two different systems hanging out from it all the time you'll have to make your own cords for each system out of ethernet cable. You'd have to have a DPDT switch on there somewhere as well. But it can definatly be done. Toodles over at SRK made a multi-console board, (off the top of my head it works for PS3, PC, PSX, Original Xbox, and Dreamcast I think... so pair that with a dual PCB Xbox 360 job and you'll have a very versatile stick... but I haven't looked too much into it as it would require you to make a cable for each individual system that you intended to play it on... and I make really... really shitty cables.

Question for those who managed to dismantle the SE stick: How did you manage to get the square gate out?

The easiest way is to just slip a flathead screwdriver under the plastic near the clips and pop it off. I didn't have any luck trying to pry the clips off. You're gonna have to wiggle it in a little bit but it works like a charm.

My new stick since I sold my old one. Not completely done yet, but it's dual PCB so it works on both 360 and PS3... since I have a 360 and everyone else has a PS3 lol.

Made it out of Zebrawood, and it has a Sanwa JLF + Sanwa RG's. Once the rest of the parts come in all the RG's will be yellow and I'll have a meshball on top.

Looking forward to to BB :yaaay:

This one's actually mine :kitty: It's not compltely done yet just because I've got some special things in store for it... but it'll be done in the coming weeks :keke: I'm starting to make a couple different blank sticks out of exotic wood like African Wenge, Purpleheart, and Zebrawood like that one. I might be able to throw together an actual complete stick for some of the guys here if they were looking for something like that. This community is really cool, and the info here helped me improve my HOS like ten-fold. So since I cant really add anything to it in the way of strats or techniques, I'd be more than happy to help anyone if they had questions about joysticks, or were looking to get one made.

It's not complete yet... but I like the way this one turned out :keke:

I can't bring myself to read this entire topic, and the Joystick Recommendation link doesn't go anywhere, so... I want to get a stick for BlazBlue PS3. I don't suppose there exists a stick that can be used on both the PS3, and Wii or GCN? Being able to also play GG on a stick would be pretty cool... And from what I've skimmed, I'm seeing people saying sticks break easily. Is that only if you play like a crazy person? I don't want to spend $100+ on something that's going to break from normal play.

Rargh, I got Guilty Gear XX for PC and my Hori EX 2 (360) won't work with it. It won't let me assign my Right Trigger button to anything because the game keeps thinking I'm using a Playstation 2 controller. Every time I try to assign RT to Dust, it just exits out of the menu because it thinks I'm hitting the start button on a PS2 controller. Does anyone know a work-around?

That is indeed only if you play like a crazy person. Buttons and sticks will eventually wear and and need replacement, but that requires a enormous amount of normal play.

Ah. Well, it's pretty unlikely I'll play that much, what with the no friends that like fighting games. I don't know if it's the whole region, or just the town I live in, but almost nobody likes the same games I do.

And these things http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-77-1-49-en-15-hori-70-1o24.html are supposed to be decent, but have soldered buttons that can't be replaced? Or did I misunderstand that when I read it somewhere at some point, but I don't remember when or where. And there's nothing like that that also works on GCN / Wii (aside from the one made for Wii, obviously...)?

I have a question! was thinking of getting GGXXAC+ to atleast practice a little before BB comes out. will the mad catz PS3 usb sticks work on the Ps2?

What tool do you use to get the nice round front/back pieces for the stick?

The Fighting Stick's are really bad, don't get one. Go for a Hori EX if you need a cheap stick.

No.

Isn't Hori EX 360 only? I just searched for it in 3 separate places, and every result was 360.

Hrm yes you are right. You might be stuck grabbing a HRAP or TE if you want a good, prebuilt PS3 stick. And as far as I know, nothing comes prebuilt with dual PS3 & Wii/GC output. You can wire up something with that or get someone else to to it though.

And I thought bemani controllers were expensive, geeze. It looks like unless I luck out on eBay the best I'm going to be able to do is a fight stick. Is there some reason why the PS3 one costs twice as much as the Wii one?...

Does anyone know if Arcade-in-a-Box is a good thing to get and also does anyone know how long the cord is for it so I know if I have to buy an extension cord for it? Just thought I'd look into it more since I want to get a stick for BB for 360. Thanks for any help.

At Gwyrgyn Blood, I use a roundover bit for the front/back, and a chamfer bit for the sides of my sticks. Just pop those in my router and then use a block sander to clean things up after and it comes out pretty sweet =]

Yeah I used to do it by hand and it's definatly rough... Really blows when you've got it stable the whole time then something catches and bam gouge in what otherwise would have been a smooth surface =/ I just have some cheapo craftsman router table I picked up used from Sears. All you really need it to do is hold the router stable while you run the wood along the bearing =]

An Ikaruga Stick I finished for a customer.

From the same plank of Zebrawood as my personal FLCL stick. Dual modded again, PS3/PC/Xbox 360 compatible.

Sanwa JLF + Sanwa OSBF's (limited black/black version)

I've got to stay busy waiting for BB to drop. Don't have a PS2 anymore so I can't play AC either :vbang:

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. Granted, a more experienced stick user would rather an HRAP and/or a modded custom stick, but as a beginner to stick, I find it to work very well. Very responsive, easy to use. The only problem I have with it is some sticking because I accidentally spilled juice on it. Other than that, there's really nothing wrong with the stick. It's good and inexpensive. Also, EX is only for 360.
