Is it easy to play Guilty Gear on a stick with a square gate? I'm considering getting one, but a square gate makes it sound really difficult to play effectively on...

Honestly MOST sticks are square guage. Its the one most people perfer. I play on a square and LOVE IT.

It is really effectively because it allows for free range of motion why octogon is limited in a sense.

Personal perference but the majority of people like square guage

It might feel weird at first but give it some time and see how you feel. There are octagon gates also.

Octagonal gates are always better in my opinion, but it's a matter of taste. Still, a square gate might prove harder to work with.

Square gate is the norm, people switching over from american sticks usually find octagon easier but after switching american->octagon->square myself, I'd never go back. Square gate makes a really distinct difference between diagonals and sides, in the end I think it makes inputting easier/more efficient

Cool. Thanks, guys. Another thing though. Does anyone know if the Hori 3 would work on AC+ on a PS3? I've heard mixed accounts about compatibility.

My friend has a LS-32 and I really prefer the JLF over it for GG but its not a gigantic difference I just feel like the JLF requires slightly less movement of my actual hand/fingers. Most japanese GG cabinets use the Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK

Thanks for the info man. I would've thanked you earlier, but this topic sort of slipped my mind. :sweatdrop:

Still though, I'm kinda surprised that Guilty Gear cabinets have JLFs installed, but I suppose that's attributed to the fact that GG never had its own dedicated cabinet. They were mostly Astro Cities with a NAOMI board. Now that I've been playing on one for long enough, I have to agree with your friend that it's the best freaking joystick ever. I love that tension and I've never been able to mash out of dizzy stun so fast before thanks to that crazy small engage distance.

Hori's Real Arcade Pro 3 and Fighting Stick 3 both work as controllers when playing PlayStation 2 games on a backwards compatible PlayStation 3. This functionality is precisely why I convinced many of my friends to get a HRAP3 over Mad Catz's FightStick Tournament Edition.

The thing is, I have the 80gb software BC model. D:

Whether you've got a 60GB Emotion Engine hardware-based backwards compatible PlayStation 3 or an 80GB software emulation backwards compatible PlayStation 3 doesn't matter. They both accept Hori's arcade sticks as legitimate working controllers when playing PlayStation 2 games. Relax man, they'll work. :keke:

@DW, dude just updated his shoryuken thread with: UPDATE 5/03 5:30am: At last, the HRAP1/T5 covers are made available. A lot of my new, and remaining, queue is getting cleared up so I can take on new orders. More updates later. For now, back to sleep... it's 5:30am. =P

its just a plexiglass cover, you put it over the current plate, i think he might do extra thick versions for use as a faceplate itself, you'd haveto ask him

Hey guys, does anyone know of any good 360 sticks that are out there? I heard that the converters are all garbage and is just as cheap to buy a stick. Any recommendations?

A Street Fighter SE fightstick for the 360 is good. Also easy to mod with sanwa.

What is the price on one of those beasts?

My new stick since I sold my old one. Not completely done yet, but it's dual PCB so it works on both 360 and PS3... since I have a 360 and everyone else has a PS3 lol.

Made it out of Zebrawood, and it has a Sanwa JLF + Sanwa RG's. Once the rest of the parts come in all the RG's will be yellow and I'll have a meshball on top.

Man...I dunno why but if I ever get a Joystick, it's gotta have a Sol versus Ky image in it...something epic. Perhaps in the GG2 Overture style.

your amazingly sexy new stick works with ps3 and xbox360 can you play accent core on the ps3 with that new stick and it will play fine?

Unfortinatly I dunno how AC works on the PS3... I've always wanted to know actually. I only have a 360 so I play AC on PS2. I did the dual compatibility just due to the fact that a ton of people on here have PS3's (look at the BB console thread..) and all of my buddies have PS3's.

How exactly did you rig up the 360 hook up?

I have an old controller that is busted and was wondering if i could use the wire to try and make a converter.

The 360 hook up? You mean the part you plug in the USB cord to? You plug it into the same slot. 360 was set up as the primary so you just plug it into the 360 and it works, if you want to use it for PS3 you'd hold in the "L" button on the back then plug it into the PS3. There are differen't PCB's for the Playstation board and the 360 board, and then there's another board which deals with the button that switches between the two systems. I'm not sure about what you are talking about with the converter though?
