truecrimson Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Hi. This's my first post here. I played with a stick once (4-5 yrs ago) and I didn't have a good experience with it. But perhaps it's just because I just bought the only one available at my local shop (I was not in the US at that time). I felt like the stick is not quite responsive. Now that there's Blazblue, I'm optimistic that with a good stick, I should find it easier to play the game as it should be. Do you guys have any advice for buying a x360 stick when money is an issue too? Also I want a stick that last like 2+ years because I'll be busy and won't be playing the game in the next year. How about just go with a pad? I've seen some guys kickass with a ps2 pad, but x360 pad... Edit: How about Xbox360 Fighting Stick EX 2 by HORI on Amazon?
ilikeusingdizzy Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I didn't find the analog stick to have any similarities to a joystick. Number one reason for me was that you use only your thumb on the analog, but you use your whole hand on a joystick. Feels completely different what system is that joypad for?looks nice.i couldnt see the white buttons though,i thought there were only 3.i thought it was for an old system.

Thanks, It took awhile to make that one. Had a hard time finding a place for everything lol. I posted it a couple pages back though: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=380976&postcount=476 It works on both Xbox 360 and PS3. You use one of the buttons on the back to select which system you want to use it for when you plug it in.
Slacko Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Hello. I'm guessing this question goes here. I recently got back into GGXX#R on the 360 and have pre-ordered BB. I also recently purchased a SF4 FightPad and am not very impressed with it. Its a lot better than the 360 dpad and quicker than the 360 analog, but still not that great. Diagonal problems here as well. So I was thinking that I might do well with a stick. I have never used a stick before and have no friends that do really so I have zero experience. Being on the 360, my options are also a little more limited. I was leaning towards the HRAP EX that will ship soon. Can anyone recommend any threads for "what you need to know" for using a stick? Or does anyone own this stick that has comments? Is this stick up to par with the well-loved HRAP3? Are the stick and buttons easily swappable or are they soldered to the case like the smaller Hori? Is this stick possible to use in the lap, or is it table-only? Thanks for the info, and if this is somewhere else that I may have missed, please point me there.
bucklemyshoe Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 really gorgeous stick I missed out on that was on sale on shmups. thought the pics of it should be posted here just for appreciation. All Seimitsu parts, wireless 360.
bjholmes2 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Just bought the Tournament Edition from the GameShark store; it should arrive the same day as BlazBlue. I'll post pictures and impressions of it when it arrives, if anyone is interested.
ghaleon109 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I remember seeing that stick a while back, Super pretty! Loved everything about that one. I'm pretty sure Jaxel over at SRK made it, and I'm also pretty sure those are his original pics of it when it was completed well over 6 months ago... I'm always kind of skeptical when people who sell their sticks only post the "original" photos of it and not the ones after it's already been in their possession for some time
bucklemyshoe Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 thats not my stick, it was one that was on sale at shmups that i missed out on. i just thought it was gorgeous is all. i'm quite a doj fan. EDIT: Yea the guy on shmups selling it said it was made by someone on SRK.
reverse channel Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 So I'm having issues trying to make a custom skin for my Street Fighter SE stick, mainly because photoshop and I aren't very good friends at all. Do you guys have any idea where I can find someone who might be willing to do one up for me? I posted on the Stick Art Request Thread on SRK, but lately everyone's just been requesting and nobody has been fulfilling requests.
Kaigu Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Here's my stick that I had fun messing around with. Stickers are awesome!
Kumlekar Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Can anyone point me towards a good starter stick for PS3? Compatibility on other systems (especially PC and wii) would be a plus. I would prefer an 8 way gate If anyone even sells them...
ghaleon109 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 A PS3 stick that works on PC is fine most do that, but for Wii you'd need something custom made, or to pay someone to add a board in the stick that works with the Wii. And almost all sticks on the market are 8-way. Don't let someone tell you only an octo-gate is 8-way... they're stupid if they do. 8-way refers to the number of inputs possible and not the number of corners on the gate itself. Most gates that you'll encounter are either square, round, or sometimes octagonal... all of which are 8-way. A 4-way gate would look similar to a "+" sign. Only Up, Down, Left, and Right are able to be input.

I'm kinda confused as to what models/brands/price ranges I should be looking at though. I read the first page of the thread, but I really don't want to be apending 200$ on something I know almost nothing about.

I like Octo's as well, but when I go to the arcade they use square gates since it's pretty much the standard.. So I swapped and put a square gate in my stick. I still screw up from time to time, due to that but it's getting better. I think that if you're going to be playing on PS3 and PC mostly and can afford to wait for the Wii compatibility you might be better off finding a SFIV TE stick or something along those lines. It'll have real arcade parts in it (sanwa) and you'll be able to switch between square and octo gates (you'll have to buy an octo gate tho) So, basically you wouldn't need to swap parts out because they've broken, gone bad, don't work correctly, or whatever... I've had sanwa parts in my stick for about a year now, and they've taken quite a bit of punishment and still work perfectly. Probbably why arcades use them as well..
Kumlekar Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 ug thats pretty expensive, Is there a cheap stick that I could get until I can afford to spend the 100+ on a better one? (I just bought a playstation 3 so I could get BB, I'm really tight on money now)
ghaleon109 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Yeah, you don't really need to get something top end to start off... Only reason I suggested that was that you'd already get something that you wouldn't have to mod later... I've seen a lot of people grab a really in-expensive stick only to want to mod it a couple months later... Some of the other sticks you can get your hands on are cheaper to begin with, but once you start modding them it can get up there in the higher price range... If your tight on money, a less expensive stick should work just fine. Unfortinatlly, I'm not too up to the specifics on PS3 sticks (I have an xbox) but if there's something like an EX2 for PS3 then those are usually pretty cheap. Also, as someone else on here said you might be able to grab a PS2 stick for cheap and just go out and grab an adapter for it. Also, I think a "mayflash" might be in this category as well? Someone with more knowledge will probably chime in here soon. Also: Anyone here know if Taito actually sells their black 2P Vewlix panel? I can get their red 2P panel, but I'm really looking for the black one and I can't seem to find it anywhere... I don't care if it has the buttons/sticks/harness in it or not... I just want the damn panel any way I can get it The red one is around $400 shipped from Japan, so I'm assuming the black one would be similar...
