doragonkoroshi Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Apparently some dude ran over and stabbed a bunch of people in Akiba today. Stay safe.
EasyModeNub Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Apparently some dude ran over and stabbed a bunch of people in Akiba today. Stay safe. lol, I was just coming to post about that. He busted into Akiba in a delivery truck, killed 7 and injured 11 I believe. The deaths were 6 male and 1 female, luckily none were kids... although the youngest was only like 19. It was done on the 7th or 8th anniversary of some stabbing in Osaka (I think) where some guy killed a bunch of kids. Pretty sick shit, stay safe and and watch out for the crazy bastards with knifes.
Dr. Stormlocke Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 If you see any crazy MGS4 advertisements/billboards, snap some pics! Keep up the good work and uh.. stay safe.
LightningCancel Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Yeah, be careful...and like Dr. Stormlocke said, take pics of those ads!
ElvenShadow Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 blog updated luckily I was not in Akihabara the day of the stabbing, but I found out about it when my girlfriend saw it on the news and mailed me asking if I was ok on my way home! Crazy shit! anyway enjoy....
EasyModeNub Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 So that Knifeman in Akiba, his name is Tomohiro Kato btw, had a (phone) blog about planning the killing spree and his trip to Akiba... wtf... seriously... wtf
reaVer Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 ES: about that reading vs watching vids vs playing discussion... IMO you need to do reading and theorizing to get a sense of direction and you need to play to learn to execute that theory and see for yourself whether your theory actually works. Matchvids are good for stealing other people's ideas or making sure your ideas are completely original:P
ElvenShadow Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 well yea. basically the conclusion I came to was that you should read to learn the basics of the game, watch videos to get good examples of how to use certain things and what to do in certain situations and setups and shit, but I honestly think the best way to get good is just to practice ALOT and play lots of differnt people. espessially GOOD people
reaVer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Well, when practicing you need to know why you lost or won, which isn't always as apparent to the player as it is to a viewer. So after playing you need to review your matches again(if necessary in your head) and most stuff will become obvious. From there you make improvements to your game and try again. If you were to 'just' practice, it will take really long to improve.
ElvenShadow Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 well obviously its important to try and learn from your mistakes, I figured that went without saying. thats called adapting
reaVer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Its the most common mistake made by starting players, even the more experienced players tend to have this problem. This is primarily because adapting is a manual process, you don't start to play better just by playing, you start playing better because you're adapting. And the more care you take into adapting yourself the faster you will adapt and the faster you will improve.
ElvenShadow Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 ....which is obvious. If you make a consious effort to realize what you did wrong and act on it by modifying the way you play next time in order to improve... thats adapting. Obviously if you dont think about it at all and dont do anything differently then, right, you wouldnt be adapting. ... I dont quite get what you are trying to get at here. I think all of this is pretty much known already. Are you trying to imply something else? I dont think theres really need for a debate about this, but it seems like you are trying to turn it into one (?)
rtl42 Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 even the more experienced players tend to have this problem. i don't mean to jump in on ES's side here, but i really have to disagree with this. if you haven't learned to adapt, it's reasonable to say that you haven't really been paying attention, and thus you actually don't have much meaningful experience. therefore, it seems contradictory to say that even (the more) experienced players tend to have a problem with adapting. if anything, this is what distinguishes you as an experienced player: you've seen enough patterns and shenanigans to have a pretty good idea of how to deal with most combat styles, on the fly.
Shazay Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Aside from the burgers they have at King Kong burger in Omaha, this is the biggest burger ive ever eaten. Lol, I remember those. "You got fries also?!"

You forgot to mention that the most important part of the game is to bring your opponent's health to zero before your own character's health goes to zero. I've seen even very good players forget to do this, and I think they would have won if they had done it.
Spirit Juice Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 ES, don't bother talking to reaver. You're really better off talking to a wall.
B.L. Pancho Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I don't see what reaver said wrong...he was just making a general statement? I mean people might be overreacting...?
jcyl29 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 nah i think they all know each other and are just kidding around
CABINET SMASHER Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I don't see what reaver said wrong...he was just making a general statement? I mean people might be overreacting...? He was elaborating on obvious statements... that were already said. While being redundant by itself isn't a crime, he's had a history with this sort of thing.
