hey i've been slowly learning guilty gear in norcal and have been reading elvenshadow's blog for a long time but don't post or comment.

i'm coming to japan for two weeks this august but haven't figured out my plans yet but more importantly i dunno where i'm gonna stay yet. do you guys have any recommendations for lodging in tokyo? a point in the right direction would be awesome!

well I always just stay at the manga kissa. you could try capsule hotels too if you wanna save money. otherwise if you are looking for a full hotel, toyoko inn tends to be cheap.

hmm i'll be packing light but i didn't consider manga kissa... it is a really cheap option though. my concerns were that i didn't know if manga kissa was something you can book ahead of time and if there was someplace where i could leave my stuff. also i think i read sometimes that manga kissas have rooms, does that mean you sleep on futons instead of in chairs?

i've been looking at hostels but it's a gamble on how good the place is and i've been warned about tourist traps. i want to keep my costs low, like somewhere around 1000, less than that would be great.

you cant book manga kissas but they are everywhere so finding one is easy. you also cant leave your stuff there but you could always use a storage locker at the station or something if your bags arnt too big. also yes, you can get booths in manga kissas where you sleep on a mat on the floor instead of a chair and some have showers too. hostels arnt a bad choice but they tend to get booked far in advance. ive never stayed at one but if you can find a good one it might be worth trying out.

You should also probably look into some youth hostels. I've had friends stay at them before, and they are dirt cheap, but I don't know anything about them, and if they are common in tokyo at all.

Yea im still playing Blanka. I was gonna switch to Hawk but I dunno if grapplers are for me. I am still playing him though cuz hes fun and hes at least my 2ndary for now

Hawk seems really solid. The dive is almost worse than blanka ball on block, actually it probably is, and as for his normals he doesn't have really anything like Giefs vortex capabilities, but condor spire is beast.

I also forgot to mention I beat FAB in casuals on my 2nd try and ended his 17 win streak, but it doesnt really matter until I beat him in a tournament so whatever lol

Don't downplay that victory, beating FAB any time is beast. Of all the try-hards in GG that guy is the try-hardest.

Can't wait to play your hawk/blanka. I think I might start learning Mak, but shes so wierd/sluggish feeling. Also, I hope me coming around for a few weeks isn't going to be a bad influence on you or anything, seems like you are trying to take better care of your self, and partying all the time doesn't really fit into that equation.

edit: oh yeah, Nick is going to be back in Japan while I'm there. Lets see if we cant get him to come out one night

Matt, im trying to slow down drinking a bit just so that my ulcer can heal a little. Im gonna try to not drink anymore until you get here. I will you drink with you when you get here, ill just try to avoid doing shots and try to take it a little slow. Ill probly not drink when you are over during the week but we will still be hitting up Current and stuff as usual. Depending on when certain tournaments start I may have to sleep a little earlier but Ill still go. As of now I really have no idea because most tournaments dont list their start times and team limits until about a week before the event starts. Its all good though, itll be good times either way.

Congratulations Mike! I feel like up til now you've been shafted team-wise, because most aren't strong enough for you or aren't able to make it out to all the tourneys you do due to bad luck (or are jerks, ASVP?)

I wouldn't believe that jp doctor for a second, no offense but yeah not drinking as much, even if it doesn't "help" your ulcer heal faster, definitely won't hurt.
