Seiki Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I think the one thing a lot of bang users even the good ones need to improve on is to stay grounded more and choosing to just do a single jump instead of the constant double jump airdash or jump airdash airdash. Too often i see bangs get randomly hit out of the air because they like to just airdash as their only option for moving around. Not to mention you miss some good opportunities when you are in the air. Like airdashing and a dp whiffs but you are too far away to punish it. I know Bang does not have clear cut anti-airs but his 5D and 2D do well if you preemptively use it against someone who is jumping in so you don't really have to worry about being on the ground. It's hard to not want to jump and it requires some discipline but I see very strong players like Dora and he really chooses and thinks about when to airdash especially against zoning chars like hakumen, arakune, rachel, and nu. Not to mention Bang also has I think the fastest ground dash in the game so take advantage of that.
YukiBlue Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Whenever I land 5C in the Corner, I do this shitty Muscle Memory Combo, and sometimes I fail to even follow up, It goes: 5C > 5D > 623C > 5B > 6C > j.B > 623C > Attempt Dash Under It's really shitty and I'm not sure why I do it, but could someone tell me the baller combo to do from a 5C in the corner?
Chazmobile Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) Whenever I land 5C in the Corner, I do this shitty Muscle Memory Combo, and sometimes I fail to even follow up, It goes: 5C > 5D > 623B > 5B > 6C > j.B > 623B > Attempt Dash Under It's really shitty and I'm not sure why I do it, but could someone tell me the baller combo to do from a 5C in the corner? My BnB from 5c goes: 5c>5d/2c> 623b>5b>6c>7 jump>J.4c>J.623b>land>5b>J.a>J.b>J.4c>JC>J.4cc Or, if I have a bumper setup in the corner I go up to the grounded 623b then: 5b>6c>8 jump>J.4c>J.c>2 bumper dash>5b>2b>6c>7 jump>J.c>3 bumper dash>J.4c>J.623b. That is essentially a shortened bumper loop off of command grab, that variation is more damaging the the basic BnB. But it can only be done on some characters and it can be ended in 5c>2c after the J.623b on characters such as Ragna/Tager. If you're playing against someone with a fucked hitbox like Hazama or Makoto stick with the regular BnB as the bumper loop variant for them is less damaging. Edited December 19, 2011 by Chazmobile
YukiBlue Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Cheers Chaz. And yeah, I meant 623B. Just keeping you on your toes. Does the 7 Jump remove the need for a Dash under?
Chazmobile Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Cheers Chaz. And yeah, I meant 623B. Just keeping you on your toes. Does the 7 Jump remove the need for a Dash under? It sure does, looks cooler too. Edit: Fixed a few notation errors on bumper loop.
Dreiko Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 If you do a 9 jump you can follow up the J623B with 2B>8jump>jb>j4c>9jump>JC against most of the cast in that combo. The dash under is useful for Ragna, Tager, Rachel(that last JC whiffs on her) and I think Carl though. After the last JC if you've conditioned your foe to instantly grab any chance to get out of the corner you then can do a B nail and then go right in and do a 5C, if they jump the explosion will hold em in place and you'll usually hit em with 5C since people don't usually barrier at that part, some people don't even notice the explosion so you doing that will instantly pick up the combo off of the explosion and that's an amazing starter, you can go into 6D>623B>stuff after that.
Dacidbro Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 So I play Huey at SCR I beat his Bang He counterpicks into a matchup I play all the time and mashes high reward moves that put Bang into awkward places and wins want to kill myself

Bang is worse in general but, Bang can still use nails to control valkenhayn (unlike taokaka). Bang's mobility is actually good too, so its kinda hard to have valkenhayn force you to block in cs2. When you guys were playing this was all I could think about after huey switched to valk, I thought it was pretty funny.
Seiki Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Lol unlike most chars valk can mix-up bang for free with his wolf dash high low stuff since bang lacks a dp. Ashura costs 50 heat so valk can do free mix-ups when bang doesn't have heat and even when he does ashura's range makes it whiff randomly on valk's odd hitbox especially wolf form. Not to mention wolf standing B rapes all of bang's air approaches and a valk with good control over wolf form can dodge nails pretty well. In my opinion the matchup is 5.5-4.5 valk favor or even.
Dacidbro Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Bang doesn't lose that matchup much, but he's the one who has to make unique choices. Valkenhayn gets to autopilot really hard.
Star-Demon Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Sounds like something I would say about Noel, except Noel can't torpedo. Noel won that tourney, too...

Dreiko Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Any notations to the midscreen relaunches? The one without the bumper is stuff>6C>JB>J4C>JC>66>5A>5B>JA>JB>J4C>J>J4C>JC You can do it in CS2 as well but since J4C has less knockup and more hitstun now it's easier to do and doable from more starters. It doesn't work on everyone though and in the corner it doesn't need the micro-dash after the JC.
