kousaka Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 you can do XF outside of combo or during a normal/special move to cancel it (like an RC).. the guard canceling thing is advance guard to XF.. it's probably because it's counted as a special.. it does increased damage regardless.. and you can use it just to get more damage out of supers and crap.. damage/duration goes up with less total team health.. it's a pretty cool mechanic because it's useful to all the characters.. i can see it being used for life gain and chip damage in runaway teams... or just for huge damage with supers

Iunno about increased damaged regardless, I just plain don't know. I haven't watched many videos, just played the game. It does have a lot of uses early, mid, and end game. I really don't think its broken at all ;s

Tofu Warrior Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 From match videos I've seen, if you activate X-Factor randomly, then run around for like 5 seconds, then land your first hit, you don't get an unscaled combo. But if you activate and hit your opponent within a second or so, you do. Hermes' explanation is good, and he's right, I think it's a good mechanic too. A lot of people are complaining that everything does too much damage, but I love it. its like ib dp only you dont need to care about blockstun. how is that not broken Because you can only do it once, and it's only really strong if you have one character left. tooooofuuuuuu do you have msn? and if so do you visit it regularly? Yeah, I have MSN I'm on it a couple nights a week, I'll add you through Dustloop.

Tofu Warrior Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 You can usually get two Ultras every round if you farm a little bit, so I'd say Ultras are worse A few people now, including Justin Wong, are saying that combos are too easy and do too much damage, but I can't wait to play this game. If everyone and everything in this game is broken, that means it's balanced :razz: But anyway, what does that have to do with me saying Thor does 100% combo off a guard cancel? Unless you're implying that Thor NATURALLY does 100% damage and he used the X-factor just to get out of blockstun to start his combo... Yeah, he has a combo that starts with cr. B that does 50%, which leads to a 50/50 reset, guess right and they die. <3 MvC3.
