komradekraig Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 game updates that are free shouldn't be affected by the psn outage, as the psn can still get to the internet i believe. you just can't access the store to get platinum. and if they really entered the "final testing" stages this past thursday, it should be back up by this coming thursday unless something goes wrong and they break the build or whatnot.
Why-Disciple Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 So, since BG is closed, Mindhiv3 is now gone, and GU doesn't really do anime fighters, Furok's seems to be the only place for casuals now. So I was wondering, my basement is about the size of Furok's and is mostly empty, so it can easily hold at least 10-15 people, and I've currently got two crt tvs and an lcd tv in my house (and I could pick up another crt for cheap if need be), as well as a couch and a shitton of chairs that I can move down there. Not sure if a Furok's Basement clone is what you guys are looking for in a casual location, but it's definitely possible if you guys want. So what do you guys think? Is it worth it? Would anyone actually be willing to come here? (Glastonbury is 30-40 min south of Springfield and 15 min west of where BG used to be). Throwing it out there, lemme know what you think.
LordPangTong Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Hey guys, good shit to everyone who made it out to the MindHiv3 this weekend! It was great fun by all! However, my copies of GGAC and BBCS are missing, as are their cases. If anyone saw/took them, could you tell me ASAP? @Why: Yeah, that sounds fine to me. Though for me personally, its about equally as far as the Animu Dungeon, an alternate place for casuals never hurt anyone! I'm for it

kona Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) @Why: As long as someone is willing to give me a ride down, I'd be down for your idea. Mindhiv3 was a great time. Definitely will miss going down there. Vyers and Nazgul, wish I had the opportunity to play GG with you guys but our VSav matches were fun. Asian Dave, finally glad to play you in GG. I've never played against Johnny before so that was a fun experience. Your Pot was also fun too. You truly taught me the importance of playing lame in that matchup. Meghan, thanks for the drinks and anime talk. I didn't play you while you were drunk cuz you picked May lol. Mindgam3, thanks again for hosting. I wish we got to play games but maybe next time we meet up. Noisetank, very good games. I'm seeing a lot of improvement on your end and I hope we can play more in the future. Paul, I'm disappointed that I didn't get to play you in GG but thanks for bodying me in Melty (as always) and BBCS. Also, thank you for not shooting me. :3 Also, now that Paul mentions missing stuff, has anyone noticed a random pair of keys at the Hiv3? I'm missing mine. They are my house keys. It has 2 keys, a Play-N-Trade keychain thing, and a bunch of store cards on it. If anyone happened to have come across it, can someone let me know ASAP? Edited May 8, 2011 by kona
Nuclear Cheese Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Why - What day(s) of the week would you usually be holding casuals? I'd be up for heading down there (about the same distance at BG was from my place), but I could only do so on the weekends due to work. (Hence why, in all of history, I've only attended Furok's casuals once thusfar) Not saying base your entire plans around me, but just giving my perspective. Also GGs at the Mindhive.

If people would rather do it Friday nights I could probably work that out as well, but I'm not sure how convenient that is. I've never done this before, so I appreciate the feedback. As much as I can get would be appreciated, thanks.
Mystic Eyes Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 GG's @ the Mindhive, I'm glad I was able to go for the first and last time. Kona, your Kitana is gdlk and Mike so is your Sektor. Zoob, thanks for all the tips for Loo. I really leveled up as I played. Also, fucking awesome animu talks with wasted Meghan and Mike and Jian. It was great meeting you Max, kuuderes for the win. Vyers, thank you for the food, and the tip about the Protomen. Nazgul, your commentary with Zoob on the Megaman X speed run money match was too godlike. Why the hell can't this happen more often? I'd never feel like my life is boring ever again, hahaha.

GU do have anime fighters only if people brings in their game and setups. They don't have a copy of BBCS anymore because somebody stoled it. I am still planning to setup my PS3 with BBCS (or CS2) on Friday at GU since I'm going back to Japan on 17th and I want to go there for the last time. I miss Furok's but I don't have chance to go there next week.

I just bought Microsoft Points today so I can download Platinum.

PS3... may be not on time. I don't know if these updates includes the US version. You'll know in two days.
capsuletoyco Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 i'm free friday, maybe i can make it down to GU and play hazama's
Vyers Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The Mindhiv3 farewell party was pretty awesome. I first want to say sorry if I came off as a grouch to anyone. My introverted nature makes me somewhat obtuse and stoic when it comes to socialization, particularly when amongst large groups of people and/ or people I don't know well. I apologize if this put anyone off, but this is just how I am. Secondly, probably my only decent method of getting to know people, and showing my appreciation to the people I know is cooking. I hope that everyone who was around Saturday enjoyed my cooking, and/or milkshakes. I'll do curry sometime. Thirdly I've a terrible memory particularly when it comes to names, so if I forget or get anyone's wrong please don't take it personally. Anyway. . . SHout OUts! Mindgam3: Thanks for hosting this event, and letting me crash at the Hive for two nights. I don't think we played Guilty at all, but we I still feel fulfilled by our match at AB. Good Shit in our Megaman X MM. You Are THe ROBOT MASTER. Maybe we could do a nes Ninja Gaiden MM next time: who can make it the furthest on one continue? I prefer Armored Armadillo/ Sigma Stage 1 over Sigma Stage 2. Meghan: Thanks for the drinks, you're the best bartender. I recall saying you needed to be more assertive at some tourney months ago. You have become assertive, that is good for taking care of yourself, but please be wary for there is a fine line between assertiveness and aggressiveness. Honestly I should be taking that first piece of advice for myself. . . Also sorry if I woke you up (multiple) times on Saturday, lotsa stuff to pack for the NH return trip Max: Sorry I wasn't really feeling the gear this time. I hope you had plenty of good matches with the other players who came. I have to find you a birthday present. Paul: I think you're the only person I know who becomes an enhanced version of themself when drunk, as opposed to shifting personalities; you were the meister of flattery. Thanks for the second dose of Melty advice. I'm amazed that Dan doesn't like Anime. Shiki Nananya Melty Coach: Thanks for beating my Hisui's face into the pavement. I am slow in learning this game, but I continue learning. Why: We didn't really talk. I just fed you soba and shake. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Zoob: You are a master of intoxicated freedom; I was envious of you as I witnessed your drunken antics whilst straining against my chains of responsibility. chains that I bore willingly and chains which I held me against my intents Hazama/Kyle/Mystic Eyes?: Thanks for the heads up on Ale Storm; I will check them out. Also you make a great Hazama. Also you are one friendly guy. David Chen: I was surprised and glad to see you make it out to the Hiv3. Jin: awkward first meeting + drunken Tekken = I remember your name? Nazgul: Hardcore Uprising is cool. Leviathan is the man for me I don't even want to touch those not manly characters with more than one hp. cookie dough/mint chocolate chip icecream oreo shake is the first thing I tried containing mint which I found to be enjoyeded, good combo(YeSSS!!!). You are a fantastic dream weaver; you ride with Tom Bombadil into the night. Furok: You and Nazgul should form the GAME BREAKERS!! an elite uber RulesLawyer/ PowerGamer organization whose purpose is to destroy the playability of all, but the most finely tuned games:v: Chrono Trigger is awesome. Cook for me sometime. SNES games you should play: Axelay, Secret of Mana, Phalanx, Act Raiser II, Valis (play all of these), Super Castlevania IV (play I II III and Rondo of Blood), Illusion of Gaia. Also try Chakon: The Forever Man for Genesis. (this game is sadistic) Kona: work sucks, Vampire Savior is cool. Let's do Garou sometime.
kona Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Kona: work sucks, Vampire Savior is cool. Let's do Garou sometime. I'm def down for Garou next time we meet up. Like in the car, you and Furok should do tag-team cooking. :3
Ken971 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Oh I'm sorry for those who are planning to go to GU this Friday, I had to change the flight back to Japan and I am leaving on Friday morning. Got couple of job interviews lined up this weekend in Japan. I'll probably in GU for the last Tuesday night if anyone wants to play me.

Zoob Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 I was thinking the same thing about using the title Game Breakers for my review series. Vyers has now solidified the appropriateness of this name. That being said, new review is out! Check it out! www.seriouscasuals.com
Danny Schme Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Shoutouts to missing Vyers' amazing milkshakes =[
Vyers Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) I was thinking the same thing about using the title Game Breakers for my review series. Vyers has now solidified the appropriateness of this name. That being said, new review is out! Check it out! www.seriouscasuals.com I liked how it began with Valkyria Chronicles You should have Furok and Nazgul join the cast of GameBreakers. You NEED Furok for WH2 snes. Nazgul can elaborate the brokenness of Bards in D&D, how to starve the citizens of Morrowind, and the ridiculousity of many other games. Shoutouts to missing Vyers' amazing milkshakes =[ You missed out on my amazing Soba Stir-Fry to, but that's okay; I'll make you something delicious next time. What Anime do you hate? I want elaboration. Edit: Also I just got accepted into UMASS Amhersts Japanese Language and Literature program:) Edited May 10, 2011 by Vyers

I'm not sure if the anime thing is aimed at me or not, but I don't hate anime, just not my thing. The music that goes along with it can drive me up a wall though.
capsuletoyco Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 you don't like anime, but play anime fighters.... you are weird.
kona Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Ken, I just checked the GU thread on SRK. LuckyD said that there won't be a Fight Night today at GU. So it looks like we won't be able to get our match in.
Why-Disciple Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 you don't like anime, but play anime fighters.... you are weird. Art style has nothing to do with the overall gameplay. If you play Mortal Kombat, does that mean you must also like MK Annihilation?
Mystic Eyes Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Don't mention MK around Danny, he's a very sensitive child. :P
