Ryd' Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I don't know how glib this response is, but it's an interesting issue. At what point do you not play the game you really want to play to play something else that other people play? That and even if UNIEL isn't as good of a game as MB, it's also a fresh experience. Semi-serious. I'm not the biggest fan of UNIEL, but it's more because of their choices for system mechanics that make it feel like a substantial step back from MB. It looks great, but playing it kind of leaves something to be desired. Given the other options available now, I wouldn't really be sad if I never touched it again. And on the topic of not playing what I want to play and playing what other people want to play...I've been doing that for years since nobody ever wants to play F/UC with me And now my PS2 stick is dying, so it might be a while before I get that chance again ;_;
Theupstreamer Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Uniel DOES look great and I also think it has awesome music but I don't think the game is for me. I'm not really trying to do away with the game here. I'm also not trying to give uniel its place (I don't like to play anything competitively actually). I'm just going to bring melty to like every gathering and hope people want to play. I still get hype watching someone choose a good oki setup over damage.
Ryuuka Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 good oki setup over damage. Why not both? Seriously though I've been bringing guilty to almost every gathering for years.

Zeromus_X Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I have 1/24 open for room 206/207 for another tournament.
LegendaryRath Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'm in the middle of making the event page for the next AZ Air Assault and I need to know what times certain groups are available. Xrd will be running last starting this month, probably at 6:00pm. HF, Tempered, Dippy, what time are you guys able to show up (if you can)? I want to make sure you can get there in time for uniel. Luke, Darell, (ted?), and anyone else who might be coming from Tucson, what about you guys? What time is reasonable for you guys to make it? I think you showed up at the beginning last time. The first tournament will be running at 2:00pm, with casuals starting at 1:00pm. Is there anyone else that is only able to make it at a certain time? Which game(s) do you play? I can't make everything work for everyone, but I want to know what will work for the most people and still be reasonable.
Chumaralupa Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I'm busy for the next two weekends, so the weekend of the 23rd or 30th works for me.
Orrax Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I can't speak for anyone else, but I can usually make anytime on Saturday, or no time at all -- it really just depends on how much work I have to do. I'm guessing anytime on a Saturday will work for me this month.
Dipstick Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 For myself, I can pretty much make it whenever Saturday or Sunday, but I would prefer Saturday as I start work super early in the morning now. H-F should be good for Saturday/Sunday(outside of personal stuff), but I don't know exactly what his preference is. Tempered's schedule is a bit erratic but he usually has Sundays off and can't get there on Saturday until 6-7ish.
Rei-Inari Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm pretty much in the same boat as Luke. It all depends on work for me.
LegendaryRath Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I know I'll be sticking with Saturdays, and I know it will be the 24th this month. The time of day each tournament runs is what I'm trying to figure out right now. If, for example, a large group of people that only want to play Uniel could only make it after 5pm, then there would be a problem running it at 2pm. I'm just trying to avoid stuff like that. Right now I'm thinking the order could be Persona, then Uniel, then Guilty Gear.
Chumaralupa Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 If the only time constrained people are the UNIEL group then why not do Persona > GG > UNIEL? Hell, GG seemed to run fine being first last time, especially since the capcom crowd that cares about ONLY GG could particpate and then book it to their nearest Marvel setup.
LegendaryRath Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 A lot of people are going for GG but can only show up after work. It needs to be at least 6pm. And yeah, some people left after the tournament they went for ended. Some other people like Scott, Jon, and Lina stayed until the very end to hang out and play casuals. I'm not interested in grouping people into anime, Capcom, SRK, etc. It's about who shows up.
Chumaralupa Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 It would still make sense to try and support times for people that will actually let a game tourney run though, rather than work around a game that's guaranteed to fire no matter when we put it.
TagAnarchy Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I like the Persona>UNIEL>GG setup myself, but that's just me.
Ryuuka Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I like the Casuals > Casuals > Casuals setup, myself. Also Dippy's av reminds me that I need to play more sdvx2.
Angelic Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hoping to stream Xrd more in the future, most likely after next monday when I get back from Canada. Might have a test day sometime this week though. http://i.imgur.com/Lkr8JWg.png Also I'll show up for GG at whatever time it's at or try to but if there isn't casuals afterwards due to other tournaments I'll take off. I'll really gonna play Xrd until i'm good before I try to maybe branch out to other anime games. TBH I wanna go backwards and try melty again now that I know airdashers a bit better. Marvel's on the backburn after this next weekend until march so I got time to play whatever.
Angelic Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Ray I like that you always take me back. I'm sorry bae i'm just bad at choosing + playing games in general :'( YOU DID THIS TO ME AT THE BDAY PARTY. I would of never mained shuma if it wasn't for that "joke" team.
Tempered Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Well if I can get Saturdays off then it doesn't matter and I can be there at any time. But if I have to work unfortunately I don't get out until 7. I plan to play in Xrd and Uniel tournaments when I do show up and I guess Melty if its being run.
LegendaryRath Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 ok ok ok you guys have twisted my arm enough only if (this is a very big "if") I can get a list of people who can guarantee they will show up, and it's at least 10 people (I'm sure someone will flake), I will run melty in February, after all the other tournaments are done. Expect it to be late, at least after 8pm.
