Orrax Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 GGs to everyone yesterday! I had a lot of fun. Congrats to HF for winning UNIEL and to Marvin for winning Xrd. Thanks to Rath for setting everything up and running it, and to anyone else who helped run it. Nice to be able to take wins off Luke again; still need a lot of work though. You're catching up quickly, just as expected. I need to keep working to make sure you don't pass me. =P I'd be kinda happy if they put in throw rejection. NO. NO NO NO NO NO. Unless you mean really short throw break windows (like 1-2 frames), which are fine. But anything longer than that: NO. I'm kind of glad my match vs. Orrax in UNIEL wasn't on stream, because yeesh. You make it sound so bad, but the fact is that it was a really close match. You would have won if not for a mistake or two at the end.
H-F Blade Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 As always first and foremost, thanks to Rath and everyone who helped run the event. I'm glad to know that I can look forward to these events every month barring any prior commitments. I also don't feel so unfortunate now knowing that Super Arcade in SoCal hasn't relocated yet so they haven't had a Xrd event in almost 2 months. @Orrax: Congrats on winning P4AU and GGs in the tourney. Rivalry at its finest. @TagAnarchy: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't playing on tilt. My lack of experience in the Bedman matchup clearly showed. The Ky winquote vs. Bedman about "I barely escaped with my life" is quite appropriate albeit a little cheesy. Thanks for tearing me a new one because it's definitely a matchup on my to-do list. @Ted: You ONLY got AH3LM!!!!! just recently? Will you play me if you go to the next event? Also thanks for reminding me about SWR....the game that you and Darrell were playing ALL night back at Revelations so that I had to go into grand finals with no sleep. And GGs to everyone else I got to play in the tourney. A lot of funny things happened while I was playing on stream and I was laughing and just overall having a good time. Not too bad for my first Xrd tourney. Definitely looking forward to the next event, especially because of Melty! I have the feeling there are unwritten expectations for me to brush off all the rust by then, but I will try. As for Xrd system mechanics, my main concerns and changes I hope they implement in the next version are: 1) Remove Danger Time 2) Remove YRC slowdown. 3) Add AC-style throw breaks.
Bearell Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 GG's yesterday everyone, it was fun as always. I'm starting to hope P4U 2.0 waits another month just so I can have one last runback against Erik and Luke with Yosuke before he loses glide. And Darrell, you need to come out next time so we can play DFC and I can prove to you why Misaka is better than Taiga or whoever you're playing now. Also just wanna say that running the Xrd tournament was harder than I thought. Thanks to everyone who helped move things along while I was either playing my games or just spacing out in the middle of the room.
Chumaralupa Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Kevin, I truly doubt we'll get the patch any time soon. Hell I even have a mind to say it won't be out before EVO... even though I hope it is. You'll have plenty of time with glide I think.
Bearell Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 You're probably right about not getting the patch anytime soon, after all arcsys release dates. But I highly doubt it won't be out by the time EVO rolls around, it would just be too much of a mess with everyone in the U.S. on 1.1 and all of the Japanese arcade players already adjusted to 2.0 (although a part of me wouldn't really mind because that means I can take Yosuke to EVO).
hateraid offred Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 If they get rid of the slow on yrc's I hope it stays for red cancels. The slow down opens up so many combo / mix up opportunities. I personally feel this is a good thing. I would prefer that it remains untouched. 1-2 frame throw breaks would be the only thing I would like to see beyond some character specific tuning
Valthazeryus Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Northwest Majors is having BB on April 24th. And CP2 gets released April 23rd. And Dogura is coming? So it should be a really easy BB tournament for him, I am assuming?
Loli Bacon Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks for running the event Ryan! It was super fun. @HF: I would love to play you in Love Max. I will get my ass handed me faster than free samples at Costco, but it will be fun. @Dejixal: HNNNGGGG I need to play the Akatsuki matchup more. @Ryd: More F/UC please. Losing to Sakura isn't aggravating at all so long as I'm not using Bazett. And with that, I guess it's time to learn some like, legit neutral with Yuzuriha, and some better hit confirms. EDIT: Who was the guy who wanted to see Nanase? I'll play her next time, maybe, probably, depends on the matchup.
LegendaryRath Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks everyone for making it on Saturday and for participating in all the games. I'm really glad that the numbers seem to be going up, and that new attendees are enjoying the event and games so much. I'll probably enter some games again next time. It's just so easy to get burnt out after setting up and running brackets that I wanted to take it easy this month. Sorry about not having the tournaments uploaded yet. They'll be on YouTube sometime later today. I'll post the links when I get the time. Also, sorry about not having the large room like I said we would. All things considered, this was probably the best set up we've had regardless, so big thanks to Justin, Kevin, HF, Don, and everyone else who helped move tables and chairs to make the space more suitable for what we needed. I already have some ideas on how to arrange things better for next time. I can't believe we actually had enough space to move around comfortably! Thanks again to everyone who made it out. I'll try to have the date for next month set sometime this week.
Chumaralupa Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 We actually had like 3-4 setups not being used whatsoever. I'm not going to lug two setups again next time if that's the case, I'll just bring one.
Rei-Inari Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 @Kevin, taiga is worse then misaka. She's the 2ndworse in the game XD I'll still whoop yo butt.HF you know you wanted to play. I'll be sure to make it out for the next event for sure.
APinkBuny Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Are all the Tournies in the Phx area at UAT? It looks like since I take the bus there no way to get back to mesa due to GG being starting at so late. I really want to practice and test my Axl offline.
LegendaryRath Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Are all the Tournies in the Phx area at UAT? It looks like since I take the bus there no way to get back to mesa due to GG being starting at so late. I really want to practice and test my Axl offline. There will be casuals starting at 1:00-ish when I start setting up. This month there were people playing guilty gear all day, so even if you need to leave at a certain time, you can still play most of the time you're there
kenja0 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I have Saturday the 7th, Sunday the 8th, Sunday the 15th, Saturday the 28th off and ready to register at UAT. No more 206/207 on Saturdays for at least a year... 206/207 will work on Sundays since no one registers anything on Sundays. 201/202 are still good at any point in time. And because there are tables outside for eating, it is ideal.
LegendaryRath Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 is there any harm in grabbing all of those dates for possible use? If 206/207 is booked by less than 10 people to play board games for an entire year, there's probably no reason we can't get several dates at once and use the space if we decide.
kenja0 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Would you like me to grab all the 201/202s on Saturdays and ask for a switch?
TagAnarchy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 It's not the fact that this kills Potemkin that frustrates me. What frustrates me is the fact that with how good her blockstrings can be, that this is a completely viable situation that can happen mid-match.
TagAnarchy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I realized I am behind in grinding, so I need a training partner. Anyone willing to grind it out this Friday or Saturday? I need more offline practice because playing Bedman on any kind of delay is ass. If so, the matter of where becomes the question since I live far from the majority of you.
Bearell Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I think we have UAT reserved for this saturday. Although i don't know how far out of the way that is for you.
TagAnarchy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I live on 16th st and southern, so it's not that bad. Diego and his roommate live near there too, so that works.
