Jet Set Dizzy Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 yet people will still consider that the sign that Sentinel is OP Yeah, despite Dante having this for less since like SDCC.
Shiawase Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 This is kinda off topic, but you know what annoys me? People who diss anime fighters for being "too mashy", yet those people are going to start riding MvC3's dick for the next few months once it comes out. Not sure about you guys but MvC3 looks just as mashy as any anime fighter out there. Nothing against MvC3 of course, I just don't understand where these people are coming from.
SolxBaiken Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 @Shiawase I hear ya, but whattya gonna do? People love them some hater-tots. Also just about everyone can be considered "broken" in this game because they gave each character access to the same tools that make it possible.

Yeah saying something is "mashy" is just showing their ignorance.
MAdBater Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 what is the chance that Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be balanced?
SolxBaiken Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 March 15 is the release date for Jill and Shuma. BUT more importantly, Pocket Fighters hits the (US!) PSN today, awww yeah!

Capcom has enough money to convince game critics that this game isn't too mashy. Most anime fighters are from smaller companies and would rather invest their money into the games themselves, rather than publicity.
RadRed Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) I still have no idea what qualifies a game as an anime fighter or what an anime fighter really is. Anywho, I'm pretty eager to play this game. Especially since people have been getting access to it rather. What means they're getting it through I have no idea and don't entirely care. My primary team is gonna be Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu and Chris Redfield bringing up the rear. Edited February 8, 2011 by RadRed
factory Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 what is the chance that Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be balanced? Everyone seems to have options here. I say it'll be just fine. Balance is pretty overrated though. MvC2 showed us that you really don't need to put balance on a pedestal in order to have a good game. All you need is some fun characters with good options.

I had a similar discussion with my SF playing friends recently. They see stuff like Arakune curse loops and 20 second combos in BB and say the game looks completely broken and then we literally have conversations like "omg have you seen how broken *blank* is in mvc3? this game is gonna own!" It's almost as if it takes 3D models to make them happy.

Funny thing is that, Marvel fits into this definition somewhat while some other "animu fighters" like Vanguard Princess don't (then again, gameplay wise, the latter plays more like SF2). Everyone seems to have options here. I say it'll be just fine. Balance is pretty overrated though. MvC2 showed us that you really don't need to put balance on a pedestal in order to have a good game. Xtra_Zero Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I still have no idea what qualifies a game as an anime fighter or what an anime fighter really is. The qualification these days seems to ride on a roulette that the guys at SRK spin every time a new fighter comes out.

CaseOak Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 After a fair bit of equivocation - I was among the many who were butthurt about no playable Phoenix Wright - I preordered this today. Hsien looks like outrageously fun to play, and I've been wanting for a while to try out some troll team featuring MODOK, Deadpool and She-Hulk.
Hawkingbird Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 what is the chance that Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be balanced? Chances are good. According to Seth, half the game's development was devoted to balance.
bmore303 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 You really want to trust Seth on a gameplay statement like that? >_>
Mightfo Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Chances are good. According to Seth, half the game's development was devoted to balance. according to seth in an interview prior to tvc, marvel vs capcom 2 was extremely well balanced seriously, "according to seth" is not how you start a claim Day 1 corner fly combo into Plasma Storm. you mean day -6 ;p

I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise.
furix Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I will be closing up this thread and opening up a new one on the 15th. Just giving a heads up in case there's information you want to compile/save.
Starlight777 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Sad But Dance Party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_PzTNIzyeo Shuma's Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQe2GjaGt9M
moofpie Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Wow, it really is a sad but dance party. :V Not a big fan of that remix. Shuma's is alright, but could be better.
Starlight777 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 At first I despised Jill's remix but the more I listen to it the more infectiously good it becomes. Yuck. Shuma's is passable but I prefer MSH theme.
Mightfo Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I'll take his word for it for the time being. I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise. except the fact that it's marvel and chances are some characters will likely end up much more fuckstrong than everyone else
