Whiteboywilly Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 bro, lets not forget that the SJSU CS club is basically doing this out of the goodness of there hearts. They have absolutely no obligation to help us at all. and paying 80 bucks to rent a venue like that for 12+ hours is a fucking steal. no really, that is like the deal of the century. If they want us to be a little less loud, and or have some restrictions on what days we can do our gathering, we should buck up and take the hint, not give them shit about studying in a library. no doubt we are guest there and should treat the venue almost like it was a friends house. This.
Dakanya Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 thank you jake. yes, the cs club deserves the utmost respect. not just chun because he doesn't have the authority to run this all by himself. who do you think you are? if you think you are entitled to this and that you guys deserve this, you are very very wrong. the sjsu cs club is an amazing venue.
blk_mage Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 This. This x10 Also, Willy, did/do you ever go to Melpitas Golf Land to play BB there?
Whiteboywilly Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 This x10 Also, Willy, did/do you ever go to Melpitas Golf Land to play BB there? Yea Mgl is my home. I drive out there to play bb and initial d every week.
OrionXElite Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 For the scheduling, consistency is 1000% more effective in this matter as it allows consistent scheduling outside of sad life for those who have school and jobs. But in retrospect, the CS Club IS the final say in the matter so in all honesty, we can't argue over it. Reasoning over it, fair game but if it just can't be done, then it can't be done and we will just need to wait till the next available date. the fact that we get this venue for bottom dollar is fucking GODLIKE. Although I have to say, I'm not in favor of the title of "liability-inducing nerd gathering..." Its FREE money, and the first rule of business is don't piss off the people who are paying you. But again, respect is very much due for those in CS club who let us in and have our fun. So in short, consistency should be prioritized but if the situation presents itself, change the date to something close to it(But ALWAYS at a later date so people can reschedule accordingly) Also Rin, I'm with Scott about you not NEEDING to be at all the ranbats. We appreciate the effort but shit, you're only human, don't be superman and try to balance everything within here and 1000 miles. Remember to pick your battles or you'll lose the whole war :3
MrKristopher Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I'm not in favor of the title of "liability-inducing nerd gathering..." Ha ha. I'm just saying, the CS Club officers do need to do more than open the doors. They have to make sure nothing gets stolen and take responsibility if anything accidental happens. The money goes to the CS Club, not to anyone who was there to oversee things. The club makes very little profit, and it doesn't come to me. (It mostly goes to other events.) But you're welcome to come back since it helps the CS Club and went well.
OrionXElite Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Hey I'm all in favor of supporting those who help out the community. So the Club is more than welcome to charge me a few bucks for a nice venue space and some cold drinks and snacks. You guys are a long shot from hotel meeting rooms with $100 per hour price tags so I'm in no position to argue Plus the title thing was mainly sarcastic but I'm tired as shit so I can't write sarcasm in my usual witty mind set I seriously have the highest amount of respect for you guys as even though you had recent theft issues in the past, you're STILL willing to put trust in 60 some-odd random strangers to come in and make use of your space for little to no money. You have no idea how awesome it is to have that kind of accessibility to a large space without everyone going broke in an hour. I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra if it goes to helping out. So do me a biggie and throw some A&W root beer in the fridge and you'll probably make $10 off me:yaaay: Also Rin, PLEASE tell me you got at least SOME of my Valk demos recorded! I don't mind if they don't go up right away, but I'd at least like it to be known that I'm the best Valk in CA :3 AND I PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY! I don't even have PS3 and I'm busting out 5-6k combos off of semi strange hit confirms
Spirit Juice Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 From the people I know, I can say they won't steal anything. If they did, I'd beat the crap out of them once I found out. As for the new people, I can't really speak for them. Venue is appreciated.
Coopa Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 The only thing I stole was an outdated anime flier outside on the bulletin board. Oh, AND THREE DOLLARS FROM WILLY. YOU GOT ROBBED, SON! That said, I will also participate in beating people who steal anything from the CS room, as the BBCS community should be expressing thanks for such a wonderful venue and host.
OrionXElite Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Hell yeah! Beat the shit out of any thieves! Just get Nate to rage and throw them out a window:keke:
Crosell Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Quick someone bake them a thank you cake. In all seriousness, we have to be very accommodating to them and help out. They are giving their time to let us have fun. So <3 . Pertaining to the most recent NCI I wasn't able to watch all of the stream but I watched teh finals, I think its a good idea to stream more MBAA and Guilty gear matches. it helps build hype and excitement around the game. Even if we don't fully understand everything its pretty enjoyable.
natearistata Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 It seems I must start a business. Here are the rules. #1. Discreetly palm a 5 dollar bill. #2. Hold your hand out to me to shake it. Slip me the 5 dollar bill. #3. Nod to the target. #4. Watch target go out window.
D-Day4391 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Hello, NorCal Install. My name is David Do, and I am the Secretary of the Computer Science Club. On behalf on myself and all the other CS Club members who helped organize and facilitate the event, thank you for coming and for treating our organization respectfully. We hope that you all had fun. In reply to your post, TaoFTW, I am opposed to the term "free money" that has been thrown around carelessly. The event itself was not free on our part; it required time and painstaking effort to properly orchestrate this event. It is downright insulting when you claim that our involvement cost us nothing. However, I do appreciate that your scene contributed to our organization. I hope you all had an awesome time and good luck with your future prospects. Best Regards, David Do

I shoulda picked Hazama from the start. That 3 dollars was all I had going for me :[
Spirit Juice Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I feel bad for not helping to clean up, even though I said I was going to help... but the time I got done with that stupid fucking combo, everything was taken care of. I should be able to help out next time. Everyone should try to help as well.
blk_mage Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Does anyone, with an ASUS HD monitor, want to grab me for 20 hours straight while I reject your grabs I need to get with the program, HD TVs is where its at I'm actaully probably going to be buying an ASUS monitor (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MS238H-23-Inch-Wide-Monitor/dp/B002ZVCGXQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1286314480&sr=8-2) tonight, so let me know if you ever want to hang out and play. Crosell Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I feel bad for not helping to clean up, even though I said I was going to help... but the time I got done with that stupid fucking combo, everything was taken care of. I should be able to help out next time. Everyone should try to help as well. I'm not entirely familiar with how tournaments go after the main event, so this could all be bad ideas. I assume its just casuals and a few money matches. After the final event, things should start getting condensed into one room (if it spans multiple rooms) and people should start with clean up after the final event. I assume about 50% or less are left after the main event. So that it isn't left with the same 5 people or so at the end of the day to clean up the venue and get it ready for tomorrow.
Coopa Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I'm actaully probably going to be buying an ASUS monitor (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MS238H-23-Inch-Wide-Monitor/dp/B002ZVCGXQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1286314480&sr=8-2) tonight, so let me know if you ever want to hang out and play. I main Tager so I'm sure you'll have plenty of chances to throw reject me :P Make sure you're buying the evo approved one that has very minimal frames of lag. Just because it's Asus doesn't mean it's going to be tourney compatible.
Crosell Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I believe this is the evo approved one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236059
HellMuT Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Aww shit, I better start going. Just finally tried playing online. Poverty internet gives me too much delay.
blk_mage Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Make sure you're buying the evo approved one that has very minimal frames of lag. Just because it's Asus doesn't mean it's going to be tourney compatible. Well that's why I included the link, so I could get some feedback on it. But isn't the main thing about the evo on that it has 2ms of lag? I believe the one I posted does as well. Edit: Aww shit, I better start going. Just finally tried playing online. Poverty internet gives me too much delay. You live it Pit? I'm one town over if you need someone close to play with.
Spirit Juice Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Well that's why I included the link, so I could get some feedback on it. But isn't the main thing about the evo on that it has 2ms of lag? I believe the one I posted does as well. MS has very little to do with lag. Long story short (inb4 qwerty corrects me), post processing is what causes lag. Some monitors/TVs do it better than others. Most of the time, monitors will be superior to TVs. The only way to TRULY know if your monitor/TV is free of lag is to do a timecode test. You may be able to find the results on the Internet, but I wouldn't count on it. The ASUS Evo monitor has about 2 frames of lag on it, which is perfectly fine for BB and SFIV (if the Taito has intentional input lag for SFIV as well).
KatanaDash Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 http://shoryuken.com/blogs/cicada/video-lag-test-dell-alienware-optx-aw2210-21-5-gaming-monitor-675/ if you have the cash, I think that is the best monitor on the market in terms of minimal input lag. It isn't the cheapest choice, but it is pretty badass based on all the reviews I've seen online. just sayin'
blk_mage Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I ended up buying the one Crosell linked me to (but from Amazon instead.) It was the same price and had speakers built in, plus the one I had originally linked to had sold out :P
Aginor Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Nate just dual mod your 360 stick. I did using the Chimp board. I've been testing it out with Blk_mage on his ps3 and it works flawlessly. Hit me up if you need advice on it. Should've responded to this earlier but do you have the dual modding schematics? I bought the chuthulu(however it's spelled) and the imp separately. I have some pics but I don't know if they're right. I remember one I downloaded I think had one wire connection that was wrong. Do you have any picture of the connections required?
