NeoVid Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I'm lacking free time at the moment myself, but once I have some, I'll see about starting this by writing up a character strategy and seeing how many corrections the experienced players have to make.
PandaKingEX Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I'm throwing the link to my youtube playlist up here. It has my GG2 combo vids, and online match vids. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C2252F012F5CF293
NeoVid Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 No Valentine combos? I'm still clueless about using her well. Thanks to this, I'm a bit less clueless about the others, at least. Hell, does Paradigm even have combos?
PandaKingEX Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I'll get the rest of the characters up later. I just wanted to put up the ones that are most popular. Paradigm has combos, but they are very situational, and Valentine has a lot of combos, but she is more about zoning, so you rarely get a chance to pull them off.
GunZLegend Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Most people playing as Paradigm,Valentine,or Raven just run away from a master to master fight unless they have their servents, I hate them, I depise them, and I say do not run for them, cowards like that always have a trap.
PandaKingEX Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Playlist is updated with tricks, and glitches. Combos for Paradigm and Valentine should be up shortly as well.
T9S1N2 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I heard the European release date has been switched to 4th of September.
NeoVid Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Wow, both of them have much better combos than I've ever found. How about adding inputs, for incompetents who can't figure out combos from just seeing them (me)?
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Panda, you stole like five of those things from me.
PandaKingEX Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Most of this stuff is common knowledge, really. I picked a lot of it up from the Japanese players.
Blackgenma Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 hey panda, if you need any help with making your guide, let me know. I happen to went around gamefaqs boards and saved some of the information that was posted to help players. I got info for about every character in the game. I could send it to you somehow. I have them saved in microsoft word. EDIT: I also got lots of free time on my hands as well. I would type up a guide myself if I actually knew enough about the game. the only characters I touch are Sol and Raven. doesn't help that I never wrote a FAQ before. if you don't mind me being an ass about it, one way to make sure you have enough time to write the FAQ is every time you want to play a video game, and know you have the time to do it, work on writing the guide instead. hell, now I really feel like writing a guide for this game. this game is so neglected and misunderstood.
NeoVid Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Well, I've got enough free time now that I can try to work on a guide, like I said. I'll start with Sin, since he's about the simplest character in the game. If I'm lucky, I'll have a good bit up by Thursday. I'll seriously need help with solid info on his Servants... If there was a way to look up that info that comes up during loading screens, I'd love to know about it.
Blackgenma Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 yes there is a way to check up the information in the loading screens. I suggest you do this in training mode, as it is suited to experimenting and other important related things. when pausing the game, there is a a bunch of menus and options. go pilfering in them, and you will find information on EVERY UNIT in the game. I forget what category it is under, but I know it is not under "Lore", only story related information is in there. there is also general information on specific characters in the game manual I believe, including what the developers had intended how each character to play as, and very general information on every character's tribe. give it a look as well. remember though, almost everything in the game can be found within the pause menu, as there are encyclopedia like entries for most of the game mechanics. also, I'm glad to hear some one is making a guide for this game! unfortunately, I don't have any specific information on sin from the GameFAQs boards, and I don't play the character myself so I can't help you there. Oh, and please take your time putting it up. I'd rather have a well written and well researched and solid guide then a rushed one. I recently submitted a review of this game to GameFAQs. when it was accepted, I re-read it, found a plethora of grammar and spelling mistakes, a terrible title, sorry excuse for an intro, and poo-poo composition. I have no Idea how that thing was even accepted, and am now revising it for an update. Them be the consequences of rushing
Zanken Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Does anybody know of an import store that stocks the Euro version of this? PA doesn't have that version. I'm from Aus, and it didn't get a release here.
NeoVid Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I think that the European version won't be out for a few months... at least it'll be released eventually. Hell, the fact that the new players are coming in in the future is probably a good thing. Good/bad news: a friend of mine wants to borrow Overture and try it for himself. I'll still work on the guide, but I'll have to work entirely from memory for a week or so. Incidentally, my friend does have Live, unlike me. Look for JJJJJJ2 to be looking for matches in a few days.
PandaKingEX Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I was browsing a Japanese site and found all kinds of in-depth information on servants. Like stats, damage, and all that. I lost track of the site tough, but I will post it when I find it again.
Blackgenma Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 this question has been killing me since......well, for a while now, so I'm gonna go ahead and post it. I main as sol(soon to pick up Dr. paradigm, gimp expensive servants and gimp master, ULTIMATE TAG TEAM), and due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, I cannot play this game anywhere near as much as I would like, so when I want to test something, I'm usually out of luck. just how essential is pencil guy to acquire victory when it comes to Sol? just how much of an edge do they give sol badguy's regular forces (being the drill and the blade) and are they worth the mana? or should I just stick with drills blades and elites? this has been annoying me for a while. I know he can poison and throw stun grenades, indecently, I don't know what block head's power up does to the unit, besides making it all fired up appearance wise. and what about that there block head? gives you a massive boost with them servants (they no longer get trample on by opposing forces) but is he worth it? or are there better alternatives? is he the least essential elite besides ultra useless gigant? or is it all just based on playing style? I fear allowing the opponent to develop his forces is extremely dangerous for sol, and block head is best accompanied by a big force of normal units to make him really worthwhile. ahh, maybe I should just shut up and come up with what works best on my own.
PandaKingEX Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Pencil Guys are pretty useless, same with Blockhead. Really though, it just depends on the match situation. There are so many ways you could approach a battle, and more than anything you have to simply be able to adapt and alter your strategy to whichever way you see fit, based upon how the battle is turning out. With Sol servant strategy is not all that important, it's all about being fast spamming blades and drills, and taking out all the enemy servants while trying to keep yours safe. I think of it this way. When playing as other characters your servants do most of the work, when playing as Sol, you do most of the work, so I say with Sol summon whatever will help you in doing most of the work. Also look for easy openings to the opponent's masterghost. If you have your firewheel, and or Engulfer out, you can rush the enemy masterghost and wipe it out if it has little or no servants watching it. If you see an empty ghost next to the enemy masterghost, you can capture it real quick, and throw a capture cannon, which depletes half of the masterghost barrier. That will help you with rushing the masterghost. Don't rely on this strategy too much, though, because your opponent won't fall for it so easily after seeing it once, but it catches people off guard, if you're really quick and sly about setting it up. If you fail to pull off the masterghost rush strategy, it could cost you the match, since the time you spend focusing on that could mean that your opponent is pushing closer to your masterghost. Oh and btw. I don't know if you guys have a nico video account or not, but you can search "gg2" and finds lots of good videos of Japanese players.
Blackgenma Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 wow, I came to this board ready to spill acid on sol, he is so much worse than the other characters that it is not even funny, but your reply really help calm me down panda, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. honestly I see how a big sol buff like flameAJ keeps away from servant battles, I just keep getting my ass handed to my by my pal boundary who plays sin (who is LEAGUES better that sol. LEAGUES) the game is so friggen unbalanced when it comes to sol and servant battles it's not even funny. I have no Idea how you manage to keep on selecting this character. seriously, when ever I read in the instruction manual and sees how it says the sol's master abilities make up for shitty servants I scream out LIES! and I throw it across the room. I hope the next update will give sol a permanent 100 dragon install or something, he's got like nothing going for him. in all seriousness though, I was about to drop the game and denounce it as terribly imbalanced piece of tripe. thanks for answering though, if you can kick ass with him, I guess he's not a total waste of a character slot. I was gonna drop the character, but I'll man up and stick with him. panda, why do you play as sol? is it for the challenge? I can do the same amount of work with raven as with sol, with half the effort. sin seems to have so many advantages in comparison to sol it's disgusting. you don't even need to try with that jerk off, his range is insanely difficult to punish, and does WAY too much damage, and his units are actually competent. sorry to rant like this, I'm just kind of pissed at the game right now. Edit: made an account in nico video (MUST USE EVERY TOOL TO IMPROVE IN THIS GAME), but navigating the site is a bit of a problem, the translator I'm using is giving me issues. is there a fav feature like youtube, or am I on my own in that regard
PandaKingEX Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I play Sol, because he fits my play style the best. I don't find him much of a nuisance at all, and I have an easier time winning with him, then I do most other characters. I don't really know much of anything about navigating nico. I just type something into the search and browse the results. I bookmark something, if I really find it interesting. Here is a good video. kimera cryin (probably the best player) using Sol in a team battle http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7512693
NeoVid Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Arg. All that free time I was expecting to have so I could work on the guide like I said? I'm not getting it. Well, at least I'll be able to get the game back before I do more of the guide. Dammit.
PandaKingEX Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I will admit that I haven't been putting much of any effort into the guide at all, even though I really need to. Also, Blazblue coming out has really did a number to this game. Most of the english speaking players have went on to blazblue, and I have no clue if, or when they plan to go back to GG2. A lot of Japanese players are playing BB as well, but I still see them going onto GG2 regularly as well. I play blazblue too, but I'm always up for GG2 pretty much any time, since I love this game too much.
Blackgenma Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 WOW! that video was AMAZING! he played so well! he fought exelently, and he knew how to manage his units, most of the time, not letting them die needlessly. the only thing I have to ask is why did he not destroy raven"s MG in the end of the round before the final? did he feel he would not be able to destroy it in time without getting interupted? or did he simply want the match to go on for a little longer? regardless of which, that video was simply amazing. seeing Sol in action like this is what makes refuse to drop the character. simply too badass. I can see what you said in your earlier post regarding sol. kimera never uses pencil guy or block head, and did a majority of the work, but make sure he took care of his own units as well as he could. I like how he helped his partner in the first round by cutting off the ghost in front of the yellow Sol's master ghost. it's like kimera never takes his eyes off the map, and knows what are the most valuable ghost that he must take, and knows when he's out-gunned in certain parts of the map, and he must retreat. how he cought yellow sol by himself in the end was very impressive, like he was an assasin or something. played blazblu myself, it's very good (lovin that Iron Tager!), but it's not the same type of game that GG2 is, so I doubt that players will ignore this game for too long. one of GG2's biggest strenght is that it is a unique game. Panda, post more cool vids when you come across them!
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 wow guys, I'm gone to Wisconsin for about 2 weeks and you decide to be active... lol, GG2 will live on here along side with BB, but I doubt any other GG will xD
Blackgenma Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 well, actually, I prefer guilty gear accent core's game play system over Blazblue's. I don't know, feels more solid to me, though I in no way dislike Blazblue, just a personal preference. that video on nico douga or watchamacallit has improved my sol game tremendously. I still stink with servants though, I don't know the maps good enough and whats most important to capture, and my buddy has a nasty habit of spamming armors, which is a pain to deal with. but at least I know what I'm aiming to do, now it's all down to practice. why hello Ayumu, I had a match against you once, a 4 player match, me (signed on as boundary) panda (I think he was ky) you (as Valentine) and a raven player named cornmuffin or something like that, playing on an illiriya map. super awesome match where the raven player summoned every force he had under the sun and left it at his masterghost, that force was IMPENETRABLE, I tell you. impenetrable. all though I didn't really do much that match, it didn't stop it from being epic in my eyes, nope, no sir. panda jumped your master ghost and ended that way some how, after barely fighting off your forces, it was like a SUPER close match, and I pretty much stood at the sidelines, waiting for cornmuffin to move from his master ghost, which he did shortly after you jumped panda's master ghost, but to my dismay he left his forces. hot, I may be to blame for this though, since he was pretty bad at master duels, and got critical downed a few times.. when do you usually play? we must have more rubber band matches, preferably with me doing stuff. I was actually wondering why you weren't saying nothing while you used to be so active. rambling is fun. hey ayumu, write a guide! it's hip! it's in style! everybody who's cool (read: not me) is doing it!
